Call of Duty: WWII review – PC Gamer

A return to the 1940s makes for a weary campaign, but the multiplayer fits like an old Modern Warfare shaped glove.

ZehnDrachen2516d ago

i don't think this is a particularly 'good' WW2 Cod Game. Main. I watched the first mission and the explosion effects like like something you'd see last generation.

freshslicepizza2516d ago

These games are not fun for me because there is so much hand holding its ridiculous. Plus I don't really care for games that take control away from you so that they can script in a scene, it becomes less of a game and more of a narrative.

Then we get into the online component where it's run, shoot, die, respawn every 30 seconds. No wonder they put loot boxes in, people can't seem to relax and want to be electrified with non-stop action.

PlayableGamez-2515d ago (Edited 2515d ago )

Yeah. Not entirely sure why people think this game is amazing.
The only interesting mission in the entire game was the French Resistance Segment.
D-Day was very underwhelming. Even Medal of Honor Frontline did it better. Had better audio and that game is a PS2 game.
I found the story to be passable and that had a lot to do with the ending being pretty good.
I was hoping there was going to be a deep emotional thrill with superb combat with COD WWII but it did not deliver. All we got was a pretty generic and passable FPS with a lot of the dialogue and writing ripped from Saving Private Ryan and other war movies. Maybe I set my expectations high. I also didn't like how the guns felt to. It felt like I was shooting paintball guns and not WW2 weaponry.

So your comment solely stems from "watching" the first mission? You didn't even play it?

Grave2515d ago (Edited 2515d ago )

I'm waiting for a Steam sale next summer for this. Just want to play zombies.

kevnb2515d ago (Edited 2515d ago )

honestly I think its one of the worst games in the series, but it seems many are happy with it so they must be doing something right I guess.

lipton1012515d ago

It's be best since MW1. Not sure what you're talking about homie. No reasons given either. Just a statement

kevnb2515d ago (Edited 2515d ago )

you didn't give much for reason either, but I can elaborate a little. The multiplayer maps are simply just not very interesting to me, mw1 had amazing maps in comparison. As far as the single player goes, everything just feels like the worst parts of the modern warfare games (the bland uninteresting parts). Almost like not very much thought went into the game play and they spent all their time on the cut scenes... To me its like a paint by the numbers call of duty game with all the rocket jump stuff taken out, but maybe thats what people want.

Including indies I’ve bought like more than 20 games, good deals all around.

P_Bomb1148d ago

I’ve overindulged too! Gonna pump the brakes on this next round. Unless there’s a PS+ discount. Need a cheap sub for my kid so I’m not always changing primaries.

solideagle1148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

could you please suggest good indie games (which are on sale)? I love JRPGs or action RPGs but I can play almost any genre e.g. Transistor is £3.74 which I think is a steal :)

shinoff21831148d ago

Check out earthlock. Its pretty good

Old school jrpg try cosmic star heroine I really like that one

Aloymetal1148d ago

Disco elysium, man eater, inside, limbo
Dead cells, observer, to name a few

LoveSpuds1147d ago

Don't sleep on Darkest Dungeon, Child of Morta or Spiritfarer.

Although it won't be on sale, the best indie I have ever played is release in a week or so, it may be 20 quid but you have to play Hades.

GhostofHorizon1148d ago

Told my partner to stop me from browsing. We'll see how that goes, the first part of the sale already got me.

ElvisHuxley1148d ago (Edited 1148d ago )

Anthem 85% off? Thought they went free to play. Has the game gotten any better?
Edit-Nvm, it's Europe anyway.

Hellcat20201148d ago

The second phase of sales is for all regions
It's just not yet showing up in the ps store

Servbot411148d ago

They abandoned Anthem. Typical EA.

CobraKai1147d ago

I can’t believe they’re still trying to sell it

BioShockGX1147d ago

Got Anthem for $5 last year. Not a bad game for that price lol

ElvisHuxley1146d ago

Appreciate the downvotes folks. I guess merely asking a question bothers the incredibly mature users here.

I might finally go for Black Desert. I've been playing ESO (without MTing my characters) for some throw away entertainment, but the combat is so "#$&&%.

Servbot411148d ago

BDO sucks. Only good for the character creator.

anast1148d ago

Is the combat worth it?

Phoenixryu1148d ago

I tried BDO a few months ago. It's a decent game but I got bored of it pretty quickly. Combat is very action-based, it's fun but very repetitive. There are a lot of menus and most of the in-game systems are a bit more complicated than they needed to be. Some game modes won't let you buy and sell certain items until you convert to a different mode etc. Basically, the game is kind of convoluted.

phoenixwing1148d ago

The mobs barely react in bdo. You can kill half of a mob of enemies before they'll even attack. You'll basically be grinding mobs until you can fight a boss that will even react well. Don't recommend it

anast1147d ago

Thanks. Is there an alternative to ESO?

phoenixwing1147d ago

@anast I'd recommend playing the single player version of es if you haven't exhausted your playthroughs

EvertonFC1148d ago

Highly recommend the "metro saga bundle" £25 all 3 games and all DLC plus free upgrade for ps5 exodus 😊
