Might as well play with bots.

I wasnt aware there was no chat option... I was pretty sure you could voice chat in the previous destiny or am I imagining it.

InTheZoneAC2762d ago

There's always been voice chat, you just need to join it or set to auto join. But on consoles most are in their own party. Even if I'm solo I never join voice chat. Unless it's a raid I typically don't want/need to talk to players that are helping

JaguarEvolved2762d ago

If you're a pc gamer then you know this happens a lot.

Aorus power 8700k unite

EatCrow2762d ago

That is what I thought. So I'm confused by the article.
Regardless...with friends I would use Team Speak anyways.

TankCrossing2762d ago

Tis a Destiny problem, not a PC problem. Both Destiny 1 and 2 are the most anti-social multiplayer games around. You can't even talk to your clan within the game, it's ridiculous.

JonnyBeoulve2762d ago

It's kind of baffling, really. It seems Bungie didn't want to add any additional layers to the game on PC to prevent any unique issues. That'd be my guess.

mochachino2762d ago

Yeah, that's my problem. I feel like I'm alone in the universe in Destiny. Needs text chat all and more voice chat. Sure, may people will troll but the solution to a problem with a system is not to eliminate the system entirely.

The game just came out so whatever concerns is being dramtized in this topic. There are options there and the game will get popular. I just received my copy in the mail yesterday, played some last night. The game looks and runs incredible, not a single frame rate droped for me below 60 which i set my vsync to. No lag at all online either.

Michiel19892762d ago

what does performance have to do with the supposedly lacking social features?

I just made some nice eggs, not a single one of them dropped even when i set the heat to max! (ill random fact drop u back my friend)

On a serious note, they are saying play with everyone, its an open world where you can meet people and make friends and play with them. There is no excuse for no chat then.

spreadlove2762d ago (Edited 2762d ago )

Michiel1989,

How long did you cook the egg for?

I suggest 8-9 minutes on roiling boil for a nice moist middle. That of course confirms that the game is incredible. Your fault if you can't see that.

If you have the game then these are your options,

Sound
Voice chat on or off
Push to talk on or off
Team voice channel on or off

Text chat
Profanity filter on or off
Background opacity
Whisper text firends+firetam+clan or everyone
Team chat on or off.

What's missing?

mochachino2761d ago

@moldybread

Despite those options you can't text or voice chat with people unless their already on your friends list or on your fireteam. There's no public chat so in a game designed around making friends, you have little opportunity to do so. You can't just ask someone if they want to team up to do some challenges, etc. like in WoW and other community based games. People have met their spouses and made good friends in WoW due to public chat, no chance to really meet new people in D2.

Wasn't that always an issue with Destiny and the way Bungie does matchmaking? I never played the first game but I recall people not liking the way randoms get matched together and voice chat being the same way.

I can understand it though. They're deathly afraid of all the "toxicity" chat could create, gotta love progressives.

The_KELRaTH2762d ago

Thats quite incredible. PC chat is practically in every single PC mp games.
Its one of the main feature that sets it above console chat systems.

How to kill a game off eh

roadkillers2762d ago

Team speak... You literally do not need chat in a game.

The_KELRaTH2762d ago

And IRC chat for text, best format I have ever used.

OffRoadKing2762d ago

Isn't there outside programs like vent or whatever?

The_KELRaTH2762d ago

Yes there are but theyre aimed at clans, teams and not for open ingame chat. IRC chat in game was very effective compared to jumping to a 3rd party IRC chat.

What If... Destiny 2's Gambit Was a Hit?

In a world where Gambit thrived, Destiny 2’s seasons, storylines, and even its endgame might’ve revolved around PvEvP as a core foundation.

Destiny already has the pretty hyper 'raid' fixation and then they added legendary raid dungeons. Hyperfixating in PvEvP wouldn't work as well because you need a lot more than 2% of the userbase to keep that going unlike raids that are propped up by streamers who make running them their whole job. Most players don't play all the raids let alone run them over and over. And most who play PvP don't want structured PvE elements.
