Three Speech: Mirror's Edge Preview: I don't believe we've been introduced

Three Speech writres: "Mirror's Edge Preview: I don't believe we've been introduced…

Not many games manage to stand out from the crowd when mentioned in passing, but Mirror's Edge manages this with ease. First person parkour game was all the information needed to get gamers everywhere excited, but it's hardly a bad thing that everything shown since has wowed audiences on near every level.

Picture a familiar level of Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, or Jak and Daxter and try and imagine running through it from an entirely first person perspective. Suddenly a huge leap from one platform to the next becomes a much more physical experience; rather than being removed from the action by a good five or six feet of physical space (between the protagonist and camera) you'd see every detail through their eyes; see the fear as they make a jump by mere inches, or fail, plummeting down into the depths below. With that image in your mind, you'd be getting some idea of just what Mirror's Edge is all about."

can't wait to play this! this is a first day buy !

Daver6100d ago

This game looks very interesting, im waiting for the demo but ill probably buy it anyway

Sony Rep6100d ago

Linearity might be something that holds this game back, though.

Freak of Nature6100d ago

The article mentions that you should try and imagine running through games like Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, or Jak and Daxter, from an entirely first person perspective...??? Perhaps it works for this game, but for me at least,I like my Jax,Drake and ratchet in 3rd person, thanks very much...

For me at least,I would have loved to see "at least an option for third person views"...

Game looks interesting, and has it's appeal, and eventually I am sure I will at least give it a rental...

LethalToxins6100d ago

I think the purpose by the analogy was missed here. It was merely relating to how good the visuals would look and how that could lead to boosted anticipation, etc.

EA Cut Dead Space's Marketing Budget to Pour Into Mirror's Edge Due to Mock Review Scores

Former Visceral Games devs reveal Dead Space's marketing budget was cut in favor of Mirror's Edge because of mock review scores.

Knightofelemia175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

I wish EA would just release a DS2 remake. DS is my favorite horror game and DS2 is the best one in the franchise. But because DS1 failed to meet certain numbers EA scrapped the DS2 remake. SH2 remake was great rumors are Konami might be asking for another SH remake. The RE2 remake was great EA just needs to give it another try. But all they seem to do is shitty sports games that are no different from the year before. Change a few players, add different uniform colours, maybe change a team logo. Wash, rinse, repeat.

goken175d ago

Agreed. DS was great. But DS2 was even better. Would love to see a DS2 remake, though I would love to see a DS4 even more.
The problem with EA is they make easy $ from the slight changes to their sports titles like football FC games (whatever it’s called nowadays). People just lap that sh1t up.
Comparatively, games like DS which don’t sell 10s of millions, can’t sell them team player add ons and all the like, would seem a hassle to make and unappealing comparatively. Especially when you consider that most EA non sport titles haven’t actually performed well recently.

Dark Souls 2, Darksiders 2, Dead Space 2, Death Stranding 2, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2

chicken_in_the_corn175d ago

The Dead space remake was so good. Better than the original. Shame they won't remake 2.

__y2jb175d ago

I loved the original dead space but the remake I just found boring. Game design has moved on and the game really showed its age, just small area encounters repeated again and again.

I bought Dead Space during launch window and I never bought a Mirror's Edge game .

Inverno174d ago

Then they went on to screw both games over.

UnbreakableAlex174d ago

I'd rather see a new and great Mirrors Edge than another boring Dead Space.

Bioshock still looks fantastic, one of my all time favorites.

Yui_Suzumiya875d ago

Beyond: Two Souls on PS3 can compete with modern day graphics.

SonyStyled874d ago (Edited 874d ago )

Same as Killzone 2 and 3, uncharted 2 and 3, Infamous 2, Heavy Rain, Resistance 3

jasonismoney874d ago

I wish this was entirely true, but you might want to load up Killzone 2 and Resistance 3 again.

SonyStyled874d ago

@jason I watched some gameplay videos of KZ2 and R3 on my full screen. They are on par or succeed graphically to the first person shooters mentioned in the article that also launched on the seventh generation of consoles. Try the same and see what you think

cthulhucultist874d ago

Killzone 3 was super impressive! I could not believe the graphics back then as I was regularly pausing the game to stand in awe looking at the surroundings! Resistance however did not impress me that much. Heavy rain is also another amazing graphically speaking game. It almost felt next gen

Fist4achin875d ago

I always thought the first 3 Gears of War games looked great and still hold up for today.

SonyStyled874d ago

They did for their day. I recently played gears judgement with on the 360 and the draw distance was so blurry. The characters up close look great though

JEECE874d ago

Far Cry 2 was awesome. In addition to having demonstrably better physics and AI than later games in the series, it had a lot of design decisions that, criticized at the time, have since been praised in games like BOTW and Dark Souls.

iNcRiMiNaTi874d ago

It might not be super amazing by today's standard but I thought Mgs3 looked really good

JEECE874d ago

In terms of art style it still holds up.
