Nintendo Switch is the Best Console of this Generation

While the PlayStation 4 has done incredibly well this generation and the Xbox One X is the most powerful console ever created, the Nintendo Switch is a console unlike any other. As a result, the Switch could be the best console of the generation due to various reasons.

Lol, if best means rubbish on this day then it's the best

uptownsoul2811d ago (Edited 2811d ago )

This will be a very unpopular opinion:

But in my opinion, PS4 is the best console this generation (b/c it comes down to the games):
...PS4 gets more exclusive games than 1 console

And

...It also gets more multi-platform games than the other console

Prince_TFK2810d ago (Edited 2810d ago )

Can you explain as to why it is rubbish? And why is it rubbish on this day and not any other day?

Perjoss2810d ago

I agree that the PS4 is the best console this gen. Microsoft has made little to no effort in securing a solid exclusive lineup and that God damn UI is just horrible to use. And to put things into perspective I was a huge 360 fanboy, but they messed up this time around.

I absolutely love the Switch but for me it's a handheld first and a home console second, just like how you could connect your psp to a TV with a cable but with added resolution bump when docked

bouzebbal2810d ago

first nintendo console i will probably never buy.
nothing about it is appealing. same old franchises and no 3rd party support.
the only strength it has is the hybrid nature, but even that doesn't interest me.
i prefer to enjoy my big titles on a big screen at home.

InTheLab2810d ago

It's a companion console at best and it's beat game was played on the wiiu.....

People are insane

Better exclusives and will surely stand out more than ps4 looking back on it 10 years from now .

Switch has way more personality to it . Honestly you have to ask yourself what's so great about ps4? Did it only look good because it was competeting against one of the worst consoles ever, Xbox one?

Dark_Knightmare22810d ago (Edited 2810d ago )

Let's see what looks so good about ps4 shall we. It has an online service that is light years ahead of the switch, better psn sales, more exclusives, more indies, way more multiplatfrom games, better controller, bigger hard drive, better graphics, shareplay, the share button, communities, more services and a sleeker design. Seriously if anything ten years from now people will look back on the switch and remember nothing about it but it's exclusives and it was also portable.

FinalFantasyFanatic2810d ago

Look, as much as I like the Switch, it has it's flaws and it's only just started out pretty much. In good faith, I can only accept that the PS4 had the best performance this gen, don't forget how badly the WiiU did (it actually did worse than the Xone, despite the fact I think it had better games overall).

Two console manufacturers having their worst gen by far vs Sony who have had an outstanding gen comparable to the PS2 era. Anyone who says differently about how consistently well the PS4 has done must be in denial. It's shocking they haven't made any major screw ups and this is coming from someone who buys almost all the handhelds and consoles.

Liqu1d2810d ago (Edited 2810d ago )

"what's so great about ps4?"

Games.

"Did it only look good because it was competeting against one of the worst consoles ever, Xbox one?"

Nope, the PS4 is just a good console with great games. Does the Switch only look good because Nintendo's previous console, the Wii U, was an utter disaster?

SurgicalMenace2810d ago

You are aware the the Switch is the Wii U, correct? Was just considering buying one for the hell of it, while looking at the games I noticed I owned them on Wii U and other consoles. Hey, if you're okay with Nintendo repackaging old tech to resell to you that's fine. As far as being the best, it has to prove it's grit when put up against the juggernaut called the PS4. You have to realize that they are the ONLY company that has enough skill to produce new gaming experiences. Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, Smash wash repeat. Though I will purchase one once Metroid, Xenoblade, and Fire Emblem come out.

2pacalypsenow2810d ago

Better exclusives? Both Mario Kart and Zelda are on the WII U. Imagine if Sony put all their best exclusives from the PS3 on the PS4, would you say the same thing?

yeahokwhatever2810d ago

Zelda is the ONLY reason to have a switch right now. It's not a great game, its pretty good. Its great for the switch because it has 0 other games to compete with. The Witcher, Divinity, Horizon, etc. are all much better and well crafted games than Zelda. If anyone reviewed Zelda with the level of scrutiny games for adults get, it would be a 7 at best.

yeahokwhatever2810d ago

The Switch isn't a WiiU. It's an Nvidia shield tablet. AKA not great.

G3ng4r2810d ago

There's no reason to buy a switch since we all have a Wii u./s

The Switch is a generation a head so technically it has no competition

Just saying...

GordonKnight2810d ago

There will be no more new console generations. Sony & MS have already started this with upgrading with the Pro & X1X. Going forward every 2 to 3 years there will be a better version of your console. You won't have to upgrade, but you want to. It will be just like the cell phone market.

2pacalypsenow2810d ago (Edited 2810d ago )

@GordonKnight

Pretty sure Sony confirmed the PS5, MS is the only one who said they don't want more generations, because in sales they always come 3rd.

ziggurcat2810d ago

"The Switch is a generation a head so technically it has no competition."

I know what you're saying, but no... it's not. Its competition would be the Pro, and X because they would technically be the same "generation" (since it's a home console (as per Nintendo's definition), and if you're counting console iterations as generations). It's also more than 4-6 times less powerful than its closest competitor...

“Nintendo Switch is the Best Console of this Generation”

Luckily I have a Nintendo Switch and PS4. Best of both worlds.

Nintendo and Sony 1st party games are the best.

It is a nice little device, but I enjoy my PS4 quite a lot too. They both have my attention.

michellelynn09762810d ago

I love the Switch, it has energized my love of games again. I have played the PS4 and it is ok. I am disappointed in a lot of the games, but it is better than the X-Box One.

shuvam092810d ago

Best?? Debatable...
Intriguing and desirable?? Most certainly...

Leeroyw2810d ago

I have a Switch. And a Ps4 pro.

Ps4 hands down. Best console I've ever had. It's online works consistently. Chatting and streaming is so easy. Sales are plentiful and games are cheaper. The exclusives are better.

I like my switch.

I loooooove my ps4.

Castle Cab Is a Crazy Taxi-like Co-op Game That's Coming to Switch and Steam

"Sega's Crazy Taxi is an arcade driving classic. It introduced the concept of picking up fares in a taxi and then delivering them to a destination at a breakneck pace. A few games have been inspired by Crazy Taxi, the most interesting of which has to be the upcoming Castle Cab from new indie Australian developer Royal Reign Studios. Not only does Castle Cab take place in a fun medieval setting, it will also feature 4-player split-screen co-op," says Co-Optimus.

Cat Quest III Is Heading to Apple Devices on August 8

"A big part of being a cat pirate is sailing the seas and traveling from place to place. What better way to do just that than by playing Cat Quest III on the go? Soon, aspiring kitty pirates will be able to enjoy the charming cat-themed action RPG on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. That should be a purrfect option for gamers who don't have the game on Switch or Steam Deck. The iOS version will still support 2-player local co-op, thankfully," says Co-Optimus.
