Divinity: Original Sin 2 Review - IGN

This epic RPG is an amazing fantasy journey full of important choices and memorable characters.

Simply, one of the best games of the year.

Razzer2823d ago

Wow.....this one wasn't on my radar, but now I gotta buy!

CorndogBurglar2823d ago

This game is awesome!

If you like isometric RPG's this is simply the best there's ever been. Period.

mercyblades2823d ago

Woooo, GOTY deliberations will be very interesting this year!

Omnisonne2822d ago

Hmm since you played it.. this or Pillars of Eternity: Complete edition? I'd like to give both a go, but not sure how much time these type of games normally take.

CorndogBurglar2822d ago

Both games are very similar but different. I like DOS2 because its full turn-based. When you enter battle no one can move until its their turn. Pillars of Eternity is realtime-turnbased. Everything is happening all at once, but the caracters are taking turns. You can pause the action and give orders to your party though. Pillars is more like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale in that respect

As far as how long they take? I dont know about DOS2 but I'm about 15 hours in and I don't see any end in sight. Pillars is also a VERY long game if you want it to he. But its hard to because depending on how much time you spend in towns or exploring, you could spend countless hours while not doing anything to move the story along.

I will say this: Pillars is extremely word heavy. I normally wouldn't point this out in these kinds of RPG's, but its probably the most heavy reading I've ever done in a game. EVERYTHING has a long story, and dialogue drags longer than it should, IMO.

Having said that, i would choose based on the combat system. That is the biggest difference that will more than likely determine which you like more.

I have the first backlogged. I hope this one is released on consoles as well. It sounds badass!

CorndogBurglar2823d ago

I'm sure it will be, but probably not for a while. They will probably release on consoles like they did with the original, once they create the 'expanded' edition, or whatever it was called.

Either way, don't feel like you need to play the first one to understand this one. They don't really have anything to do with each other story wise. And this one has much better character creation choices. For one, you can choose your race, and two races are things you never get to play as in 99% of RPG's: Lizard Man and Undead. In the first you could only be human.

That isn't to say the original isn't badass though, because it is!

Fist4achin2823d ago

Cool! Thanks for the heads up. I picked up the first one for a big sale last December because heard it was an excellent game.

I guess I have some time before the sequel will probably make it to the consoles!

Here are five top deals you may have missed from the Steam Spring Sale

These kinds of lists are often terrible for me, mainly because I either already have the games, or I'm just not interested in some of them. Great for people new to PC games or people who haven't kept up with game releases.

phoenixwing453d ago (Edited 453d ago )

I'm too poor these days to buy every game like I used to. I quit my job because it was too exploitive. So until I find a new one I'll be enjoying my immense backlog lol

FinalFantasyFanatic453d ago

Mine's become very exploitative too, sick and tired of doing the work of 3 or 4 people, failing and getting stressed out while the company makes record profits every year. I can't go without work, but I'm hanging on until I can find something else, sometimes it sucks living in a rural/regional town.

@finalfantasyfanatic
Yeah I'm lucky that I can go without work for awhile. Otherwise I would have just had to bear it. Hang in there. One important thing is to always be looking for a job somewhere else on the side if you're even a little bit unsatisfied.
