PlayStation 4 console exclusive SOMA was just rated for Xbox One

When this generation started, many smaller developers flocked to PlayStation 4 and many of their titles launched exclusively for the platform. However, as Microsoft is making waves in the console space recently, it seems like many of them are coming to the ID@Xbox program.

Not surprised, they have said it was a possibility since it launched on pc and ps4, they just lacked the resource at the time

Kingthrash3602833d ago (Edited 2833d ago )

Hell I thought this game hit xbo already. Man they really are lacking in games. This is a good one tho. Now that it's on xbo lets see of it'll make it to the switch as well.

-GreenRanger2833d ago

I really would love to play this on the Switch. Make it happen!

Silly gameAr2832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

It would be kind of cool to play it on the Switch.

You couldn't hide your salt for one post could you?

morganfell2832d ago

I own it on PC. Using terms like console exclusive is ridiculous in the first place. A really enjoyable title. From a requirements point of view, it should be possible to get this game on the Switch. It isn't a title that needs a monster to run it and is really worth it.

nitus102832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

The total download size for SOMA on Steam is 11GB, however, the total storage size will be about 25GB so for the Switch version it would have to come on SD card or you would have to purchase a suitably sized SD card for download purposes.

For PC owners the minimum requirements are:
- Windows 7 64-Bit edition.
- Intel Core i3 @ 2.0 GHz or AMD A6 @ 2.0 GHz or better.
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M Series @ 1GB or AMD Radeon HD 5770 @ 1GB or better.
- 4GB RAM or more.
- 25GB HDD or better.

Operating system aside (the PS4 does not run a Microsoft OS) the Nintendo Switch barely makes up the minimum requirements so it is very unlikely that SOMA will be ported to the Switch unless it is downgraded performance wise.

BTW. The game SOMA was released for Microsoft Windows (PC), OSX (Mac), PS4 and Linux on the 25th September 2015. I can't find a release date for the XB1. Given all the above information I very much doubt Switch owners are going to see this two-year-old game anytime soon.

Lol ok. Cuz an indie game came over means there aren’t any? As an owner of Xbox and PlayStation 4 I’m going to tell you that the marketplaces on each console are vastly more similar than different and there are actually some indie games on X that aren’t on PS4 as well.

Ps4 has more exclusives it’s true, but as I’ve said on this site hundreds of times, there are waaaaay more games that aren’t exclusives than are and not every exclusive is amazing or a must buy. Take the launch of Destiny 2 and Knack 2 for example. One of those games reviewed a lot better and is dominating the news while the other one recieved a tepid response and has pretty much been silent. The one doing well isn’t an exclusive and it’s the one I’ve been playing all week (on the ps4pro even -sorry Knack). Pretty easy to armchair coach from afar but experience always gives the real perspective.

P_Bomb2832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

Throwing down destiny 2 vs knack 2 is outrageous. Not to mention I couldn't care less about either of those games. I did buy Soma though. So...

S2Killinit2832d ago

I love how MS PR makes their lackluster games performance sound like momentum. They are so behind in terms of games that they are barely getting Soma, and they act like its some revolution. Deception is the name of their business model it seems.

Condemnedman2832d ago

cool be playing the best console version when I transfer to X

Silly gameAr2832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

@Condemnedman

Why do you feel the need to say that on almost every article you post on? We get it. You can't wait to play games that are already out on your x1x. Hope you actually play it, and not just saying that just to plug the xboxonex. Your inferiority complex is really showing. You must have had a rough few years.

Condemnedman2832d ago

@ silly game ar I don't have an inferiority complex I'm just stating the truth @ trolls like kingthrash I don't see you picking out his comment? I'm not against playstation or any other console but if it's good for them to dish it out I'll happily give it to them back . happy gaming

Kingthrash3602832d ago

Salt?
It's a indie game I thought was on xbox already...it's been on playstation for years and it's not like they sign a timed exclusive deal. I figured it was already on xbox...it shows that lack of devs wanting to put games on xbox at launch.
I mean if I wanted to be salty I would bring up that AAA exclusive game that just got cancelled for xbox one (that somehow isn't news over this) but I didn't... relax.

yeah and from what I heard they said that SOMA didn't sell that great on PS4. So a great way for them to recoup some more costs. Awesome game though, really enjoyed it.

P_Bomb2832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

Uh, who's "they"? Cuz the developers said they're more than happy with their sales http://frictionalgames.blog...

They also followed up on Soma by porting the Amnesia Collection to PS4 and made their money back again (with profit) after 2 days http://www.playstationlifes...

So...

dirkdady2832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

I suspect he heard from Neonridr. Lol

Internets a funny thing where a thought can become a fact.

Neonridr2832d ago (Edited 2832d ago )

@P_Bomb - huh.. I remember when the game first came out that the devs weren't initially happy with sales at first. Maybe that changed with word of mouth. It wasn't a knock against them, but sales were definitely more tepid compared to their runaway success of Amnesia. I was basing it off of their 6 month blog actually, you can see the devs were happy but weren't ecstatic at the rate the game was selling :

Glad to see that their fortunes turned around.

Regardless, I loved the game, so forgive my error.

@VenomSnakeRisingX - if you bothered to look at my comment history you would see that I actually own Sony and Nintendo products. However, I don't just blindly support anyone and will always share my opinion. The links I posted clearly state that at the time the devs weren't happy with how the game was selling. No I wasn't singling out the PS4, just in general the game was not doing what they were hoping. 250,000 copies isn't terrible no, but clearly the devs were hoping for more at the time.

In my link (the Frictional Blog one):

"While this is a good result for us, it's by no means earth shattering. For instance, Firewatch (which has quite a few elements in common with SOMA) sold over 500k in just a month, so there's obviously room for SOMA to sell a lot more."

"I mentioned above that a problem with SOMA is that it lies between two genres. Not only has this probably led to lost sales, it's also most likely the reason why SOMA cannibalized the Amnesia sales."

These are their words, not mine. But if you want to say that I am merely trolling, then be my guest. I bought this game day one on my PS4 and loved it.

This a a game that everyone should play. The story was absolutely excellent and mind blowing. I'm glad more people will have the opportunity to experience if

subtenko2832d ago

well its just SOMA... its not like a big title like Star Citizen (which would have to be dumbed down for both consoles)

MegamanXXX2832d ago

This game is almost 3 years old

Great game too. Now this is the quality of games i expect for indie games, No stupid 8 bit iphone games.

FITgamer2833d ago

Good game, definitely recommend. Wish they would have had the funds for the story DLC. Hopefully they make a sequel.

morganfell2832d ago

I own Amnesia Dark Descent and Amnesia A Machine For Pigs, both by Frictional and both worth it.

choujij2832d ago

Yes, me too. Really enjoyed the Amnesia games.

ArchangelMike2833d ago

This is a great game, you guys need to go out buy this one, it's well worth it.

Very safe list of horror games. I would argue that Amnesia Machine for Pig was not that great. Dark Descent was much a much better game.

Far better games have been released in this genre (Dead Space Remake, Alien Isolation, Alan Wake 2 etc).
