I assumed all WWE games were rated teen

BLAKHOODe2800d ago

I guess I better cancel my pre-order then. Oh well. Back to playing GTA V.

I'm curious as in the UK we have PEGI (3+, 7+, 12+, 16+, 18+) rather than ESRB, how is it legally enforced in terms of ages? Yes, I am that bored.

As far as im aware from what ive been told it its the same as selling alchohol you get fined or worse if you sell a game to an under aged person. I think as long as they show ID they can't get in trouble because how would the cameras be able to see the D.O.B on the card in theory if a sales person wanted they could sell a 18 rated game to a 16 year old as long as they showed ID. In saying that where i used to work we had young looking people from other stores come in to test us at random in street clothes so its not worth the risk of the fine and losing your job. But i too would love to know exactly how it works.

ESRB is an eduacatinal tool for parents and retailers. It's not an "enforceable" standard by law. With that said, there are civil liabilities for retailers that sell mature rated games to children since we do have a standard.

The_Sage2800d ago

It's not actually legall enforced at all... The ESRB is a guideline. It is not illegal to sell M rated games to kids, but everyone knows you better not. You'll get a lot of bad press if you did.

I work in Retail in the UK and in the shop I work there are areas for the stock so anything with an expiration date is area 22 and say small items like chargers are area 5. But there is Area 18/21. This includes over 18 Games, Knives, Cutlery, Chainsaws etc. By law, we are not allowed to sell 18 rated games to a minor. If we do we will be dismissed (fired) and legal proceedings if needed. That is if we sold a knife but for a game, it is just as important. I can't sell it through the till and the person who gives you the game (we have a buy and collect service) has to check your ID as well. So they take it pretty serious even employ kids to go into stores and try to buy age rated products. We even have to sign a declaration to agree to the terms. If you did you would be sacked and even get a fine.

Are Wrestling Games Getting Worse?

Some of you may know that the latest instalment in the WWE gaming franchise 2K20 was released late last year to generally poor reviews. Some of this was based on graphical issues, but mostly it was due to the many glitches and bugs found – many of which are hilarious to witness.

Fire Pro needs more love. The last PS4 title gets regular playtime from me.

I hear that there are financial troubles at the studio, but I'm hopeful for a Switch port one of these days.

Anyone remember Giant Gram Wrestling on the Dreamcast .....

Rambokind1935d ago

Ah hell yes! That was loads of fun.

Acecalibur1935d ago

Fire Pro just gets better. Buy it.

micdagoat191935d ago

I have Fire Pro for PS4 and PC but it seems more of like a Sim creator rather than people actually playing out matches. I still dont like anything as much as the N64 games

Golden Era of wrestling games in the Golden Era of wrestling. I've been contemplating going back and getting a N64 and getting those classic's

TheTony3161935d ago

Yes. The last great wrestling game was svr 2006.

addictedtochaos1935d ago

Yes, the WWE ones at least. The last good one was 2K14 and the last great one was Here Comes the Pain.
