Final Fantasy: Every Protagonist, Ranked Worst To Best

Over the years, the Final Fantasy series has had hits and misses with their protagonists. It's time to rank the main characters for the primary games.

God no Squall is not a better character than Zidane, Noctis, Cecil, or Tidus.

Urm...yes he is

He has some of the best character development in the FF games

From a lonely, selfish, cold hearted jerk to a brave, heroic leader who learns to open himself up not just to embrace his new friends but the woman he loves. You see this change as time goes on and each new Disc shows a new side of him...it even explains why he's like this thanks to his past when he was abandoed not just by his family (as he thinks) but even a girl he opened himself up to and loved like a sister...she then left him (being taken away) and because he let someone in again he decided to just shut down completely resulting in the person we see at the start of the game.

Let me guess? Judging him as the so called "emo" from the very start of the game right?

In my opinion he's better then Cloud.

Cloud has a better personality. I love his banters with Barret and Yuffie.

Squall is way too serious for a 17 year old. Plus, I'll never forget the "go talk to a wall' scene. He never really redeemed himself with Quistis, which was one of his best friends. This speaks volumes about her, to keep following a friend after that, not exactly him. It was always all about Rinoa, Rinoa, Rinoa, Rinoa... Even though everyone did treat him very kindly. If she never came into the picture, he would be an eternal jackass, while most other heroes warmed up to a series of different characters.

He isn't #1 and shouldnt be imo. Squall had much better character development and was overall a better protagonist than Cloud ever was. Foxtrot above sums it up well.

Heck, Zack was a better character than Cloud imo.
