Splatoon 2 Might Be Preparing Me for Destiny 2
Since Infinity Ward brought unlockable rewards to multiplayer back in Call of Duty 4, many games formatted their own iteration of the multiplayer trend over the past decade. Nintendo, as they eventually did with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, eyed the multiplayer shooter genre until some young developers within the company introduced the concept that would eventually become Splatoon. Despite the game’s many innovations, it too adopted some common multiplayer conventions, one of them being an in-game gear economy that offers long term, indefinite rewards.
