Analyst Hopes Gamescom 2017 Will Have More Software 'Sizzle' Compared to E3 2017

E3 is now out of the way and Gamescom 2017 stares gaming straight in the eyes. Perhaps some bigger news will come to the show versus what we saw at E3 2017?

We have a rep in Germany who usually goes and she opted out this year. Said it had become too crowded and mainly a recap of what was already covered. She also had an issue with people from a certain area pushing in on meetings and loudly demanding they get press access and go first even though they did not have a meeting.

Garethvk2874d ago (Edited 2874d ago )

Eastern Europe she said. Remember most U.S. based media has E3 and the PAX Shows as well as the Gamestop Expo. No need to go all the way to Germany to get what you had at E3 and will get at PAX. The other issue is that many of the reps there are for Europe only so when she meets people we cannot work with them as the two main offices are in the U.S. so again its kind of an ok lets see more of what we already covered and will be covering at Quakecon, PAX West, and the Gamestop Expo. Not to mention the PSX.

Wow… Nintendo is champ in Japan, but the speed of sale is remarkable.

Proves that console gaming isn’t dead yet not by a long shot.

not surprised, the switch is relatively cheap in japan.

I guess the resistance against always online and digital only consoles is BS. The people have voted with their wallets.

NotoriousWhiz9h ago

What are you talking about? Switch 2 is neither always online nor digital only.

DivineHand1257h ago

Nintendo can literally block your Switch 2 console from accessing their online services at any time. When that happens, it becomes a brick. You won't even be able to play those games that use game key cards that are not installed on the console. Some users who have been blocked tried factory resetting their system, and when they tried to boot it up with a new account, they are stuck.

Speaking of game key cards, the majority of third party publishers have opted to use those instead of loading their full game on those cartridges. Imagine having a library of game key card games and going on a long trip but not being able to play a particular game because you need to connect to Nintendo servers to download the game first. It is not like the old days where you just plug in and play.

Game key cards make sense for large games like GTA, Red Dead, or COD, but I don't see why publishers who have games with sizes less than 32 GB need to use that option.

If you try to mod your system it could get banned from online play like every single system since the ps3 and xbox
