Hate it when spoilers are right in the title. yeah we all know the truth, but there are still quite a few gamers that never played the game.

When I played VII for the first time in 2012, I already knew of the character's demise. However, it happened so suddenly that I was still taken aback by it.
Good lord does that game earn it's reputation.

if a someone born 15 years ago is a gamer and still hasn't played a FF title my guess they probably don't care enough to throw a fit over finding out a character named Aerith died in a game that relased in 1997..your point?

Yeah but the game is still 2 decades old regardless. Its pretty much known nowadays and is part of our culture. Kinda like how Darth vader is Luke's dad.

I mean at some point you cannot complain about spoilers, and i think 20 years is pretty fair.

To your point about some people being born 15 years ago. Well people are born everyday... and does that mean we should put off spoilers indefinitely? If not 20 years, then when?

I think we should take it upon ourselves not to spoil it for new fans. FF in particular has been losing popularity with only a recent resurgence, meaning many do not know about FFVII and will want to play the remake either from word of mouth by friends or after seeing gameplay and trailers. And Star Wars has a much, much bigger following than FF, even if you were to do Star Wars watchers per capita versus FFVII players per gamer population.

Secondly, what is even the point of putting it in the title? It's just not needed.

FF X's ending likely is my favourite "sad" moment. What an awful end to a long, long road.

Pretty sure everyone figured it out before it was revealed, but even knowing, that ending was rather well done in terms of presentation. When Yuna falls through Tidus, definitely one of the sadder moments of the series imo.

5 Hours into FF15.

..That's when it hit me the hardest.

I never found Aeris's death sad one bit. It was unavoidable. Only thing that was really sad was her Theme that played.
That about it.

My Top Three would be:
1. FFIX - Alexandria Being Destroyed and the aftermath
2. FFX Ending
3. And beating FFIV-X for first time wanting to erased my memories of them so that I can play them again fresh

Spoiler...I thought the part in FFX was sad when Yuna had to put the souls to rest when Sin caused it's wrath in that small town.

Nah. I remember playing the game for the first time and not caring that she dies. Was it a surprise? Sure. But I never really used her, and preferred Tifa for... reasons ;)

I think it depends on whether you used her in your team or not. She was my main healer in the game and I was usually nice to her during dialogue options, so it was pretty heartbreaking when she died ;(

Although the first time I played, I had Cid and Vincent in my main team and they didn't really say much when she died, so the moments after Cloud's speech ended up being pretty 'meh'. But the second time I played, I had Tifa and Yuffie in my main team, and it was much more gut-wrenching to see Yuffie stumble into Cloud and break-down, and Tifa kneel down and close Aerith's eyes and brush her hair out of her face.

Yuffie fall to her knees to the point where she had to be dragged from Aerith's body....that was really gut-wrenching.

Since Aeris was one of the most useless characters, with the most annoyingly flakey personality, I didn't care about her death at all. I'd have cared more if it were Tifa.

The deaths in this list are really sad, but FFXV was devastating. That could have easily replaced most on this list.

when you realise that the english translation of FFX is so far off at times that the end misleads you big time.

People have ruined FFVII. I hadn't played that game util a year or two ago and I would always hear how amazing the characters are but I never could connect with the characters and I couldn't care less that Aerith died. A lot of that I feel has to do with idiots spamming the fact that she dies. I'm confused as to how spoilers are considered taboo except when speaking specifically about VII.
