"NHL 09 offers a healthy selection of game modes and manages to throw in a couple of new features to this year’s version, but ultimately it still rides on its ever solid core gameplay. Team Play Online and the new defensive controls are flawed, but at its core NHL 09 always manages to provide an enjoyable experience.
The NHL may not be as popular as the NFL or NBA, but the developers at EA Canada have created a superb sports game, and NHL 09 deserves to be recognized for what it accomplishes as a great video game, not measured by the popularity of its sport.
If you’re a hard core hockey fan you won’t want to miss this game. But even if you’re not the most avid of ice hockey fans, if you want a well paced, physical, and easy to enjoy sports game, NHL 09 is one of the best sports games of the year and well worth your time."
