lame, aren't there other pornographic games on Steam? When you do this it doesn't allow for the industry to grow. If anything allow it but make sure people are of age if they're buying it. It's silly to have these hyper graphic violent and gory games and them actually being for 17 year olds, but then you have an 18+ game that has sex and nudity and god forbid we allow this on our squeaky clean service that I'm pretty sure has Japanese visual novels that show sex and nudity...

meka26112848d ago

Couldn't agree more. It's very strange that violence which is frowned upon almost everywhere is completely fine, but sex, which is a natural part of life is shunned. Biology and science are just gone from our society nowadays along with common sense. I worked at gamestop for awhile and had a lady come in buying a game for her young son. He picked out two games, gears of war 2 and fable 2, both mature rated. I explained what was in the games, that gears is extremely gory and the only real adult thing that fable had was sex, but the screen goes black and it's more comical than anything. Lady states, "oh we are gettings gears, violence is ok, but no sex or nudity," my damn jaw hit the floor, so damn stupid.

KwietStorm_BLM2848d ago

That is hilarious in the worst way. I don't understand this society. Those weren't her words verbatim though, right?

meka26112848d ago

Kwietstorm
Yep those were her exact words, that's why I said my jaw dropped, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing.

@texag2011
LOL at disagrees!
Apparently killing animals to keep on keeping on isn't seen as violent?
Violence is as much a part of human nature as sex is. To deny this fact is to as meka2611 said: "[ignore] biology and science".

Social justice man, every game billionaire giant is too much of a sloppy coward in order to challenge the status quo even with the most, "freedom", and progressive form of entertainment on the planet.

..If you want pron games just look for em off steam till someone in this industry figures out that sex is normal and 12 year old's do it all over the place.

VariantAEC2847d ago

@narsaku
"..If you want pron games just look for em off steam till someone in this industry figures out that sex is normal and 12 year old's do it all over the place."
Advocating for pedophilia? That last sentence certainly reads sketchy as all hell dude. I can't recall any children throughout my own childhood who were having sex at the ripe old age of twelve! I also don't know anyone today who has had sex at the age of twelve or would be ok with their children having sex at that age!

Averyashimself2842d ago

@VariantAEC
News flash, 12 year olds do indeed have sex with each other. It's just an observation. Narsaku isn't saying that it's okay and neither am I. I think what hes means is that sex is just as common as violence is. It's just that people are way more sensitive about sex than violence. Before people freak the f out, I'm not advocating for pedos. I'm just making an observation.

SarcasticDuck2848d ago

Agreed. If anything, I rather jerk off to this kinda games over those weird japanese novels where i have to rape the "next" button until it gets to the good stuff!

joab7772848d ago

Again, a small minority dictates what we can and can't do. Didn't a game come out last year that allowed people to shoot cops and brutalize ppl? Is that still available?

Princess_Pilfer2848d ago

Speaking as someone who actually likes porn games, House Party is a shitty asset flip. The same house is used in a couple of "horror" games that got through greenlights. The Jimquisition even covered one of them.

If you like porn games, Do yourself a favor, get japan Applocal and either buy japanese copies of porn games and use english patches from places like Hongfire, or buy translated copies from one of the sights that sells them. Ignore this shit.

no!!!!!! this was pure comedy gold!

narsaku2848d ago

There's many grey areas in life where some sensitive subjects need to be handled with care. There are kids all over that platform that don't have the emotional ability to handle limitless access to porn which is ruining adult lives everywhere as they let themselves forget about the real thing.

Not trying to sink your boat or anything, I agree but it's still a truth.

What Steam needs is an actual authentication system tied to your real life that finds your age and gives you access to adult content. If parents screwed up beyond that point that's their problem. And not just Steam, consoles as well.

Billionaires for all their lucky success though in life are complete cowards. Don't expect a change anytime soon cus it ain't happening. The only reason we see boobs in games now is because of the feminist movement burning their bra's the last 10 years trying to make breasts into elbows.

2848d ago
Averyashimself2842d ago

If parents would actually put restriction settings on their kids consoles, then you wouldn't have to worry about kids seeing 18+ rated games (minus the internet browsers of course).

StuffAndThings2848d ago

Violence & cursing are okay but boobies & pussy are the devil

R6ex2848d ago

Its like saying its alright to kill and murder but its wrong to appreciate our natural bodies.

GrimDragon2848d ago

Steam is stupid for doing this. Pornographic games are a high source of revenue. Just hurting their own pockets for trying to be puritan. Yet porno gore is just fine bunch a morons.

Biggest hack in gaming history if true

Christopher1d 15h ago

No personal details, mostly account names, no passwords. Likely would need other account leaks to hope that someone reuses a password with a similar account name on another already leaked service. While a lot of users, the data is useless. Kind of notably by the $5k request for the data.

Profchaos3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

You don't remember the psn hack I take it

BlueDaBaDee11h ago

Update:
"Valve has now confirmed that “this was NOT a breach of Steam systems” and users do not need to change their passwords as a result. However, it continues to recommend that you set up the Steam Mobile authenticator for extra security."

Fishy Fingers11h ago

Shame. I liked the idea someone paid 5 grand just for my silly steam name.

DivineHand12511h ago

The government needs a taskforce with serious fundung that can opporate across borders to go after cyber criminals.

It is getting out of hand and it is the regular citizens of the world that suffer the consequences of these hacks and breaches.

My fear is that if left unchecked, state sponsored hackers from corrupt or governents under sections may use this as a method of raising revenue at the expense of everyone else.

Fishy Fingers11h ago

Bro teeing up a Mission Impossible movie.

ZeekQuattro9h ago

Not in this administration. If anything hes been dissolving existing task forces meant to protect consumers.

Amplitude7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

Why? They’d just use the funding to funnel hundred of millions of dollars into fake NGOs that then funnel it into democrat pockets while doing zero cyber criminal defence work.

Then if anybody tried to defund them it’d be a whole thing with the mainstream media claiming that there will be endless cyber attacks. NGOs would then fund protest groups to attack anybody that supports defunding the government’s cyber attack defence branch and then it would turn out it was also being used to stabilize or destabilize governments in other countries and overthrow elections to benefit America. Which is fine until they start using it on us again.

Let’s just not. Private companies who know what they’re doing (Valve) can deal with it

RIP USAID. God bless

Profchaos3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

It's not a may use this not we know state sponsored attacks do this already.

It's a global problem you couldn't have one government playing world police it would require joint collaboration with foreign governments and the problem is many laws have not kept pace with advancement of technology.

even then it's hard to say with certainty if an attack was a state sponsored attacks or a cybercriminal group operating outside of governments

remember when certain groups were saying PC gamers don’t want other subscriptions because it was not safe and steam was the spot lol.

Shiore2u9h ago

No. Don't recall that. You know the voices in your head aren't real right?

pwnmaster30008h ago

I mean you can say that all you want but it’s the truth. Most recent one I saw was a whole bunch of you PC gamers bitching about having a PSN account and one of the arguments was how it’s not secure enough lol.

Shiore2u7h ago

@pwnmaster3000 Real or not it must have really got under your skin to keep talking about it. Why so touchy?

pwnmaster30006h ago

Two comments and I keep talking about it lmao.
Look you must be new to conversations but this is how it goes. You talk to me and I respond back.
Very simple and with practice maybe you would be good to ☺️ cheers mate.

Shiore2u6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

@pwnmaster3000 It's just a question, stop being so touchy.

(hopefully you figure out the irony by now, I can't be anymore obvious with the goading)

pwnmaster30004h ago

What you using the word “touchy”? What about it?
And yes it was a question and I answered. Do you not like getting responses back lol.

it's time to riot, right, pc gamers??

Be careful, PC gamers are the most touchy out of the gamers lol

@badz149
@pwnmaster3000
Have you guys actually read what was «leaked»? It was SMS messages from 3rd party provider (not from Steam itself) with one-time 2FA codes (that are active for 15 minutes). No Steam account details, access to an account or any of that jazz.

Let me quote official Steam response:
«The leak consisted of older text messages that included one-time codes that were only valid for 15-minute time frames and the phone numbers they were sent to. The leaked data did not associate the phone numbers with a Steam account, password information, payment information or other personal data. Old text messages cannot be used to breach the security of your Steam account, and whenever a code is used to change your Steam email or password using SMS, you will receive a confirmation via email and/or Steam secure messages.»
Source: https://store.steampowered....

The only bad thing about this is the phone numbers. But while that sucks, attacker doesn't know which Steam account this phone number belongs to. IMO, the only thing people should be rioting about is how unprotected the SMS are and the 3rd party service that was used by Steam. I'm all for punishing people who screwed up and/or lacked the security. But this is not it.

dont think itll happen because of COQ. it costs as much as gaming consoles that are way better in a lot of ways and nintendo normally thrives on selling cheaper hardware than the competition. i believe that because the switch 2 and the games are so expensive and are far inferior to better versions available for the same price or cheaper on better gaming consoles that gamers would rather get a better value for their money and buy something better than the switch 2. the switch 2 can do a lot better if it isnt expensive and the games are cheaper.

Muigi14h ago

Yeah but I can’t play my PS5 Pro on a plane or the subway.

Neonridr10h ago

don't worry, they'll tell you to buy a $300 accessory on top of the console so you can "stream" it to play it. (subject to network capabilities of course)

MrNinosan10h ago

@Neonridr
The Playstation Portal is amazing, but if you don't want to spend the 300$, just use your phone or tablet that you probably own already

jznrpg7h ago

@MrNinosan it’s 199$ for Portal

MrNinosan6h ago

@jznrpg
Might be, I just answered to his bullshit comment.
As I live in Sweden, I paid way more for my Portal, around 350$ at release, but still use it daily at work and in my bed, so well invested 👍

Neonridr10h ago

*costs as much currently.

We've already seen MS have to adjust the price of their consoles, and it's possible Sony could follow suit.

And your definition of "far inferior" is subjective to the end-user. Can I take my PS5 Pro version of the game with me on the go? No.

Dhika3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Hahaha. We'll see. I'm not keen on seeing you moving goal posts as usual lol.

darthv7214h ago

Pretty ambitious... it could be done so long as they lower the price of the games and the system to something more reasonable.

jznrpg14h ago

Least exciting Nintendo launch for me.

MrNinosan10h ago

First console I won't buy at release since the original NES.

repsahj9h ago

Not me. I am excited as when I first bought my Mario Odyssey bundle Switch 1.

MrNinosan6h ago

Because of Mario Kart?
Or what is it that excites you?

repsahj5h ago

Because of everything Switch 2, I am very impressed with what I am seeing so far. And because 3 of my friends who I play Helldivers 2 with will also get it. We will all be getting the Mario Kart World bundle.

Elda13h ago

For me...I beg to differ it's an important launch knowing it's not launching with any interesting exclusives except the $80 Mario Kart & I'm not into racers. Until I see some interesting Switch 2 exclusives that I think are a must play I can wait as long as possible before obtaining a Switch 2.

Neonridr10h ago

While I'm getting MK at launch, I'm actually most interested in Donkey Kong. I love the destructible environments.

NotoriousWhiz8h ago

I'm most interested in trying out cyberpunk with mouse controls. If they work really well, Switch 2 may be my console of choice for shooters.

MrNinosan6h ago

Couldn't you try that on PC for the last 5+ years?

neutralgamer199212h ago

I’ve seen a lot of people projecting that the Switch 2 will sell over 100 million units by 2029. While I understand the optimism—especially considering the original Switch’s success—I think those numbers might be overlooking the current state of the market and how much it’s shifted.

First off, we need to stop using early sellouts or pre-order hype as a reliable indicator of long-term success. Every major console that’s launched in the last 25 years has sold out during its pre-order window. Even consoles that were ultimately considered commercial disappointments—like the Wii U—sold out at launch. The PS3, which launched at a hefty $600 back in 2007, still had people lining up. That early rush is almost always driven by the core gaming audience, not the mass market. The real test comes after that honeymoon phase, when sales depend on casual gamers and broader adoption.

And that’s where things get trickier now.

The gaming landscape has changed dramatically. Mobile gaming has completely taken over in terms of both revenue and number of players. It’s bigger than console and PC gaming combined, and it's still growing. That makes sense when you think about it: everyone already has a phone, and many have tablets too. Pair that with a Bluetooth controller and you’ve got a portable, high-quality gaming experience with almost no extra cost.

Consoles and gaming PCs, on the other hand, require a substantial investment just to get started. When money is tighter for a lot of households and the average consumer is more price-conscious, it becomes harder to justify spending $400–600+ on a single-use gaming device—especially when they already own something that plays games well enough.

I’m not saying the Switch 2 won’t be successful. Nintendo has a strong brand and a loyal fanbase. But I do think people are underestimating how much harder it is today to move that kind of hardware volume. The market’s more competitive, more fragmented, and more mobile than ever before

Neonridr10h ago

I fully expect the Switch 2 to sell 100M units. But to say it'll do it within 4 years is a big ask.
