He said it would be 4K 30. I didnt see any video saying online it would be 4K 60 fps.

Edit Good title change was about to say.

DarkLordMalik2935d ago

It was a mistake that has been fixed.

BiggerBoss2935d ago

Hell yeah, all games are gonna be 4K 60 fps on the Scorpion!!!!

..wait, what?

bouzebbal2935d ago

lol isnt it better to have a higher FPS for games like this where smoothness is the most important?

thekhurg2935d ago

4k/60fps

Has to be cause that's what the internet has said for the last year.

UltraNova2935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

So let me get this straight, the graphics are mediocre at best, they shied away from showing any destruction and now its going to be a 30fps game? Ok so what happened to the power of the cloud? What happened to the Scorpio being able to run everything in true 4K/60fps? What happened to get ready to "feel true power"?

It seems the promises are real with MS...

alb18992935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

BiggerBoss, MS promise 4k console no 4K60fps. If it is possible the 60fps they will do it but the real promise is delivered.

freshslicepizza2935d ago

@UltraNova
"What happened to the Scorpio being able to run everything in true 4K/60fps? What happened to get ready to "feel true power"? "

Oh you mean the fabricated promises created by those trying to put Xbox One X in an unrealistic setting so they can say it didn't live up to those hypothetical expectations? Even a $700 video card will struggle getting that in all games but you want a $500 system to do it now? Now I know you guys had no interest in this system regardless of what they did.

Crackdown 3 will still have cloud technology to handle all that destruction but they needed to show more of the game. What they did show at E3 wasn't very good

blitz06232934d ago

They really need to consider giving 1080/60 options - but that would completely defeat the purpose of their product, considering they are shoving "TRUE 4K" down everyone's throats each time they market the Scorpio. Live by the sword, die by the sword

mikeslemonade2934d ago

The Xbox X is too weak this pretty much seals deal on me not buying the X. Crackdown 3 is a stunning looking game either. I'm gonna be able to play that on 4k 60 on PC.

darthv722934d ago

No khurg... that's what PS4 fans have been saying for the last year.

choujij2934d ago

@moldybread
"Crackdown 3 will still have cloud technology to handle all that destruction but they needed to show more of the game. What they did show at E3 wasn't very good "

Remember when they're oh so tempted to show the Scorpio early because of how much they had to show at E3?

Yep... Fake hype. Called it.

indysurfn2934d ago

Now wait a minute. It may be 30fps@4k but if it has 4K HDR support I'm still in. I remember PS4 game Horizon having a choice of 4k 30fpsHDR or 1080p@60fps. And the winner was absolutely 30fps 4k HDR. That game looked so good I could not see how games could look better. Now I realize that Horizon on PS4 also had some of the best art and optimization I will see. But dang man it convenience me on 4k HDR!

S2Killinit2935d ago

Did anyone else feel completely underwhelmed by Crackdown?

Gamist2dot02935d ago

When actor went ballistic and introducing the game, I thought the game was going to represent the beast from the destruction demo showed 2 years ago, man, what a letdown when the reveal was over.

RpgSama2934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

Not even Microsoft believes in the game, after 3 years of complete silence they announce they're going to release it in November and they just show a few minutes long trailer? No live gameplay? No multiplayer presentation? That doesn't make any sense, the game is so screwed

It looks like a Saints Row and not even the good ones.

CyrusLemont2934d ago

Very underwhelming, could almost mistake it for an Xbox 360 title, the lighting system looked like hot garbage and made everything so bland and flat. I expected the visuals to be more like the opening of the video, just without Terry's Crews lol.

The destruction system is still there as stated on Microsoft's website, but it's limited to Multiplayer.

nRicosS2934d ago

Crackdown will be the greatest game ever, with the power of the cloud.
Xbox 1 + cloud = 3 times more powerfull
Xbox x + cloud = i couldnt imagine

Soc52934d ago

Anyone else not care that much about "TRUE 4k" ? Seems like a huge amount of processing power for just a resolution bump, I'd rather have 1080 60fps

Malacath2934d ago

Yeah. Games look perfectly fine to me in 1080P. You can still improve graphics a lot without bumping up the resolution

KingKionic 2935d ago

Its great it runs in native 4K for the campaign. Im mostly waiting for the destruction stuff. That comes later during the summer.

Overload2935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

News is about to break, it's only an Arena not a destructible city anymore.

"Crackdown 3 comes with Wrecking Zone - a 10-person Player-vs-Player race to tear down the opposing team’s stronghold using your strongest Agent superpowers in a 100% destructible battle arena powered by Microsoft Cloud."
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B...

slate912935d ago

The destruction has always been reserved for online though. Nothing has changed.

Eldyraen2935d ago

Or that's one specific mode and there could be more.

KingKionic 2935d ago

Yes i saw it. If its in the city its still a destructible city Overlord.

Its probably a sectioned off area thats large enough to crash into buildings and knock them down.

Overload2935d ago

It's going to be an Arena, not a big city.

Bobafret2935d ago

Seriously, why on earth do you care so much?

foxdie20142934d ago

Finally some one pointed it out i was just waiting thought everyone forgot its only fucken arenas not the whol game

ocelot072935d ago

I take it there won't be an option to run it at 1080p 60fps? I just don't understand why most devs won't do this?

Christopher2935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

Because games don't sell based on fps to the mass majority of the market.

@below: true, I'm just explaining why it's not a priority for many games

ninsigma2935d ago

It can still be marketed at 4k but the options can just be there.

Razzer2935d ago

Yep. Like it or not, 4k is the buzzword.

2935d ago
SegaGamer2935d ago

Sucks doesn't it ? fps over resolution any day for me.

Sunny_D2935d ago

Funny how Xbox gamers were saying that at the beginning of this gen when PS4 games were 1080P and Xbox games were 900P or 720P. Now they want to talk only about 4k resolution. 😂

letsa_go2934d ago

@Sunny_D hahaha they would say "You can't even tell the difference unless you start counting pixels!" Now all of a sudden they can tell the difference.

--Onilink--2935d ago

because its not as easy to increase performance vs increasing resolution. FPS is very related to CPU power which none of the current consoles has a very powefull one. Upres is mostly done with the GPU and RAM which is what the biggest improvement is

Pandamobile2935d ago

Games that are CPU-bound simply don't have that ability on consoles. If the main loop of the game is budgeted to run every 33 ms at 4k resolution, dropping the resolution doesn't magically allow for the CPU to run twice as fast, even if there's GPU power to spare.

chrono12052934d ago

Yes they said x1x has some form of hdr. 4k to 1080 at 60fps. Don't know if all games support it or not.

Strange_Evil2934d ago

Because it isn't a direct conversion factor. Resolution is GPU driven for the most part and FPS is both GPU+CPU. Regardless of what people say, the CPU in both the PS4 Pro and XBOneX are not capable of true 60FPS for challenging visual heavy titles.

People were going batshit crazy when they announced Forza to run at 4K-60FPS. Racing games are the least resource intensive games. Hell, even GT5 ran at 1080P60FPs on the PS3 which was a console that targeted 720P30FPS for the most part. 500$ will only get you this far.

ocelot072934d ago (Edited 2934d ago )

Yer you have a good point. Sony confirmed today GT Sport will also be 4K (native) 60FPS on PS4 Pro. Wipeout the collection is also native 4K 60FPS. Racing games don't take much to run 4K. I had a RX 480 as that was able to run Forza 6 Apex at 4K 60FPS.

Gaming_Cousin2935d ago

That was one of the worst trailers they could have shown for the game. Downgrade confirmed?

iDadio2935d ago

Was very underwhelming and didn't show the games actually strengths and promises.

I don't want to be worried about this game I loved the first but I'm starting to bite my lip a bit in anxiety.

yeahright22935d ago

I'm guessing they were banking on Terry Crews to be what we were all talking about.

Snookies122935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

Yeah, this was an awful way to present their game... I was all hyped on Crackdown a while back when they showed the last trailer... This just looks... Not all that great.

I really hope it turns out well in the end, but this does not give me confidence. Which honestly sucks, because this game had so much promise.

rainslacker2934d ago

Downgrade from what? They haven't shown the game in action until their conference yesterday. Most people seemed to not have realized that, and were building their hype up on some developer diary type footage which didn't show a full game running, and some cloud tech demos.

slate912935d ago (Edited 2935d ago )

This is pretty disappointing to me. At least it isnt a competitive fps/racer or that 30fps would be a real problem.

Tencent to buy Crackdown and Sackboy developer Sumo in $1.3bn deal

Tencent is set to buy Sumo Group in a deal worth $1.27bn (£919m), the companies have announced.

Darkborn1437d ago

Tencent is really buying up everything. I'm surprised everyone is selling to them like this.

Rebel_Scum1437d ago

They want/need capital I guess.

darthv721437d ago

No way they are worth that much. They are a support studio. I guess tencent decided to throw them an insane price that Sumo would be crazy to turn down.

Its like the godfather. "Im going to make you an offer you cant refuse"

UltraNova1436d ago

Always the case.

Who owns the rights to Crackdown and Sackboy IPs though?

boing11437d ago

I've heard some time ago, that they created a special unit that has a mission to search for acquirable devs all around the globe.

-Foxtrot1437d ago

Going off their business practices they seem like a cancer in this industry

1437d ago
blacktiger1437d ago

chinese currency, no limit in printing, but they are selling in USD

PrinceAli1437d ago

Maybe because they're a publisher of games with a history of success loool..?

barom1437d ago

Even Microsoft can’t compete with that kind of money.

Zeref1437d ago (Edited 1437d ago )

Uhm yes they can.. What do you mean?

Zeref1437d ago

Money talks, Besides, those developers don't need to worry about income anymore.

enkiduxiv1436d ago

I doubt anyone that matters to the actual production of the games is getting a raise. The only thing that has changed is that now they can't buy any Winnie the Poo products for their kids.

senorfartcushion1437d ago

Well they’re allowed. America and China are leading the world in toxic capitalism.

n1kki61436d ago

As publicly traded companies it's either they sell and potentially get more, or tencent initiates a hostile takeover and buys at least 51% of the shares. These companies might not even be amicable to the buy out but opt to take it because hostile takeovers are terrible.

frostypants1437d ago (Edited 1437d ago )

Yep. A company that built itself by ripping off IP of small, innovative developers and out-marketing them. Tencent is everything wrong not just with gaming but corporate ethics in general, and the assymetric regulatory playing field we for some reason permit from the Chinese government. Egregiously corrupt companies like Tencent should be banned from the US market.

senorfartcushion1437d ago

The US market would take Tencent to dinner and have it naked on the bed by midnight if it could. America and China are as bad as each other

Lightning771437d ago

They can take Sumo those devs really aren't that great. Sack boys big adventure scored good however but Crackdown 3 wasn't great. They're 50/50 Sony will find a suitable replacement for Sack boy. MS desperately needs a suitable replacement for crackdown, if it's not already too late in terms of fanfare at this point.

Sumo to me isn't that big of a deal there are better devs out there.

senorfartcushion1437d ago

Crackdown 3 was cancelled and remade a few times. Hardly their fault.

darthv721436d ago

This is the same Sumo who made Outrun 2, 2006 Coast to Coast, Sonic Racing Transformed as well as Forza Horizon 2 on the 360. I think they are better than you give them credit for.

Wulfer1436d ago

You might want to walk this statement back. Why else do you think this game goes for over $200 now?

https://www.ebay.com/p/5144...

1437d ago Replies(1)
ScootaKuH1437d ago

I'm surprised Sumo are valued so high

solideagle1437d ago

yeah, thats what I thought. $1.3 billion is very high, Insomniac sounds like a bargain deal for Sony!

chadwarden1437d ago

And they likely bought Housmarque and Bluepoint for even less than Insomniac.

phoenixwing1437d ago

at the two above me,
it's easy to sell for less when you know you're in good hands business and culture wise. I mean sure you could scratch out some extra money elsewhere but are all the people you know going to be taken care of when you get bought out? Sony takes care of them. Basically you can tell who's a scheming money scumbag by what ceo's/execs choose to be bought by. In the end money talks but there's extras to consider sometimes.

roadkillers1437d ago

I am as well. They do not own any IPs from my understanding...

DOMination-1437d ago

Me too! After looking them up, it seems like they were the parent of other game studios: Lab42, Red Kite, Sumo India, The Chinese Room and PixelAnt Games and also have some cryptocurrency technology.

They may also still hold the IP for back when they were Gremlin Interactive.. back in the Amiga days they were really a dev of some repute.

ScootaKuH1437d ago

Gremlin. Now there's a name that takes me back. Ocean as well.

Teflon021437d ago

They're not, it's likely them just throwing money around to make sure they have no opposition. Sumo is a valuable developer as they've assisted in alot of great games. They did LBP3, Sackboy, Sonic Transformed, I believe Assisted in both ModNation Racers and LBPK, Team Sonic racing, just to name the few off the top of my head that I own.

IRetrouk1437d ago

I honestly thought ms or Sony would have nabbed them, seeing as they have worked for both on their respective ips, colour me surprised.

Bennibop1437d ago

It's a lot of money for a group with no ips, what would they have worked on to keep so many studios and staff employed. For now at least they continue working on ips for the likes of Sony and Microsoft.

IRetrouk1437d ago

Sony and ms have more than enough ips to keep em busy, the price would have been an issue though, that I agree with, just surprised is all🤷‍♂️

frostypants1437d ago (Edited 1437d ago )

Tencent doesn't exactly pride themselves on original IP anyway. They just steal someone else's. They only need developer drones.

Sephiroushin1437d ago

They have enough to make them busy but there is no point in buying the studio that high, they could just make the developers some offers and thats it... heck every single developer could just quit the studio and with what is tensen left? no point in buying a studio with no IP you dont own the developers

IRetrouk1437d ago

I already agreed that the price was high, still don't take away that they could have been used, and be useful to either ms or sony

Xbox Cloud Gaming PC Preview/Hands on Impressions (BETA) - CG

Microsoft recently released their Xbox Cloud Gaming PC Beta which allows users the opportunity to stream Xbox games to their Windows 10 PCs or laptops. This follows on from being able to use the cloud gaming on mobile devices which works very well but is limited to the size of your screen. Having the option to play Xbox games with a larger display has its obvious benefits.

bouzebbal1713d ago

Let's talk about powahhhh of da clawwdd for a second 🤣did they give up with this thing?

bunt-custardly1714d ago

Oh right, I didn't get the joke sorry, it just clicked. Hmm, is Crackdown 3 really that bad/universally hated especially as it's on gamepass?

SullysCigar1714d ago

My attempt at humour could have been clearer, in hindsight..!

Yeah, sadly Crackdown 3 had been hyped so hard and so long by Microsoft, that when it launched as a mediocre game, it got panned. It was mainly the broken promises about the power of the cloud I think that did it. This was the 'cloud power' poster child for years and it all amounted to nothing, which is a real shame, because if they'd realised their initial vision it could have been special.

bunt-custardly1714d ago

I do remember the original vision where entire buildings could be demolished but wasn't that feature relegated to the multiplayer mode? For me, Crackdown 3 comes across quite generic. I suppose if it had the full destruction in the story mode that would have been bad-ass. If Red Faction Guerrilla can do it why not CD?

FanboySpotter1713d ago

Crackdown 3 was made for crackdown fans. Hated by non crackdown fans. Enjoyed by crackdown fans.

MadLad1713d ago

I played it on PC for a little while via gamepass. It's not nearly as terrible as people would try to make it out to be, but it's the definition of a "meh" game.
There's fun to be had if you're bored.

andy851713d ago

It's good it's possible but who would pick this over 4K60 on ultra? It would look far better

IanTH1713d ago

100%. This is obviously just showing what can be done with the current highest end hardware, rather than what should be. And if you're splashing out for an RTX 3090 over a 3080 for gaming (small performance delta if not using that huge buffer for productivity), then I guess you'll also consider splashing out for an 8k screen. And, I mean, you'll want to be able to do *something* with it lol.

outsider16241713d ago

Let's be honest here, even with extra high settings at 8k 120fps... it'll still look like crap. Sorry.
