Monster Hunter World Trademarked By Capcom Ahead Of E3 2017

Capcom has trademarked a brand new Monster Hunter game today.

While exclusivity would be nice, I'm just hoping the PS4 gets Monster Hunter. Had heaps of fun on PS2 and PSP.

@Thatguy why there will be salt? Monster Hunter belongs to PS from start end of story, 3DS lame games were destroyed it and left it stale .....its happening .....i want a proper Monster HUnter 5 on PS4 Capcom , not BS like Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Online ....

A franchise doesn't belong to a certain console unless it is made by a first party studio. It, also, hasn't been exclusive to PS for almost 10 years now, so I don't know why that should matter anyway. The games for the 3DS were both well received and sold well. The franchise hasn't been destroyed at all.

It'd be great if it gets a PS4 release, but I've no idea why you think the 3DS destroyed the series. If anything it helped it stay alive longer.

@septemberindecember The franchise wasn't destroyed but by moving it to lower spec hardware each generation it has halted any significant changes most series would get moving forward.

That would be the most educated guess.

I agree as well as it makes a lot of sense. Granted both situations make sense, they could Port monster hunter from 3DS to the switch, make a PlayStation 4 exclusive monster hunter that takes advantage of the system's power ,while also having another team make a switch version of monster hunter that is exclusive to it.

Everyone wins.

But because of their financial situation I know they may not actually be able to afford such a scenario and that would only really work if Sony or Nintendo would flip the bill on one of those titles if not both companies.

I know that sounds crazy but people would have to consider that we're talking about a generation where Microsoft Nintendo and Sony have paid for developments for this Publishers games.

Could happen, but if I had only one bet it would be that it would appear on the switch.

Because Monster Hunter traditionally sells best in Japan, and the PS4 doesn't nearly have the Japanese install base as Capcom is accustom to?

I'm sure it will get a PS4 release, but exclusivity is a different story.

If I recall correctly the rumored Monster Hunter PS4 exclusive was meant to be more targeted towards a western, action RPG crowd of gamers, could be Deep Down was reworked into this or maybe it's just a new entry in the series that will release on PS4, Switch, maybe Xbox and PC.
Best case scenario is it's a proper modern update, with more advanced, open world gameplay, with cool physics tech, weather effects, time of day transitions and nice visuals.

Hopefully it's something being announced at E3 and not just a tease.

capcom need to stop this franchise being exusive, monster hunter could become a big fish if they get it out to as many people on as many platforms they can.

Sometimes exclusive deasl can hurt a franchise, holding back games from other platforms. Doing so can halt the gaining of potential new fans from ever knowing that franchise because they own the one console and not all of them. Over time the constant development of a gamr on one particular console could actually of done more harm than good and I wished it would stop.

I doubt monster Hunter being exclusive on ps4 will hurt the franchise, although I agree if it I released on x box it will be more money which in turn can make the next one greater.

If it was exclusive to x box that's when the problems start because let's face it the majority of x box fans are not interested that much in games other than shooters.

Especially if they had released on years ago on Xbox 360, Vita and PS3, just imagine where they would be now. The PSP ones sold so many copies it was amazing, if had continued on the Vita and add in 3DS and we are talking 15-20 million sold considering how popular it was in Japan.

I just hope they don't strip everytging that made Monster Hunter special just to appeal the western audience. I don't care what people say about Toukiden and God Eater being better than MH just because it has a faster paced combat, a story and "cute" anime girls. Personally, the Monster Hunter games will always have a special place in my heart (sounded pretty dumb didn't it?) than any other MH clone (well, except SSD since atleast that game took a few notes from MH while being its own new game).

If you want faster paced combat Monter HUnter game that what Monster Hunter X/Generation or Monster Hunter XX is.
A faster paced Monster Hunter with Special Skills and Animation for the classes and weapons.

This is definitely good news but I couldn't help but notice the whole "aiming at the casual crowd" part. MH has been pretty casual since MHTri on the Wii.
