"Arms is honestly one of the worst games I've played"

"I'm not going to entirely judge it though as this was just a multiplayer test and maybe the single player content or rest of the multiplayer is amazing, but this doesn't feel like a full price game from what I saw."

Alright but you already judged it in the first paragraph.

"They honestly should just have players use an analog stick to move as the side motions were distracting." You mean the way they allow you to do so if you used a joycon grip, or a pro controller? It's almost as if he judged the game without actually trying out all the different play styles. Which is ironic considering he said he tried it with traditional controls as well.

Considering it's only an hour preview, I think that's a quite a rush to judgement. I mean honestly, I respect your opinion, but there are far worse games out there, either your knowledge of games is severely lacking or you're trolling.

For me personally ARMS is lovely, i'm playing with a pro controller, and as much as people may whine about the 'gimmick" i'm sure at some point there were a lot of features in games that were gimmicks that are now mainstays. I'm sure the percentage gauge from the much loves Smash series was a gimmick until it took off and spawned multiple sequels and a competitive community.

And as for gameplay of ARMS I enjoyed the heck out of it, unskilled players will usually spam grab, and throw punches willy nilly neglecting to dodge, time their moves, and charge their punches. But more complex players will have you panicking as the time starts counting down and you only have a slither of health and you're left guessing which move is up next and what you can do to get their bar empty with in a minute.

Moments like these along with experimenting with different characters and arms made...ARMS a delight for me personally, and while it's understandable that the community is only new because it's only been an hour for most people, I hope among final release we'll have a better more competitive community with mixes and matches galore.

Due to a physical handicap, I am not able to play with the motion controllers and have fun. How was the pro controller doing the test punch? I need to give it a try since I can use controllers. Will the controller allow me to be competitive? I have read a few articles and it sounded like motion was the best way to play to be competitive.

I didn't use the Pro controller, but I did use the Joy Cons attached to the system itself. The controls were excellent. They take some getting used to (only because I'm not used to curving punches in a fighting game), but after a 5 minute training session it feels natural and fluid. X to jump, Y to dash, A for right punch, B for left punch. I didn't really care for blocking being the L3 button though, I hope we can customize it in the full release.

For the record, out of around 30 online matches I only lost 5 of them using button controls. I think you will be fine.

I'm not a fan of fighting games, but my son's are and I played some with them and thought it was better with the pro controller then motion controls.

I played 100% with the pro controller and did fine. You can still bend your shots with the control stick you just have to adjust and time it and play differently.

It's = to Anakin having to adjust his lightsaber style when he became Darth Vader. The suit didn't allow him to be as swift with overhand strikes as Anakin was, but he had to adapt to fighting as Vader instead, and was just as powerful......but in a different way.

* I noticed the boomerang with Spring man worked really well with the pro controller. It had the most severe movements laterally so it makes using the stick to bend it really easy and helps you compete against players using motion controls.

Hopefully somebody else noticed this too. ^ That is my biggest tip to anybody using the pro controller....use the boomerang on the left glove.

I'm not 100% buying day one.....prob pass at first but I'll get it eventually...I'm just not Huge into fighting games and usually only have like 1-2 a gen to play.

As i stated I respect the guy's opinion and he's entitled to have it but it sounds like he probably fiddled with the motion control playstyle and didn't find much enjoyment out of it. And then he found matches with new players, which is to be expected as this is a 1 hour beta, and for a lot of people, it's their first time playing so don't expect them to go flying around the map knowing how each arm works right away and the best method to take down your dude.

It sounds like this guy should have at least attempted using traditional controls.

Nintendo Select: 5 Switch Games That Deserve A Second Chance

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "The Nintendo Switch has been one Nintendo’s most successful systems ever, both measured by the number of units sold and the quality of its titles, but if there’s one thing this generation has been missing it would have to be the Nintendo Selects line, bringing existing titles that had paid their dues back at bargain prices. With the Switch now entering its twilight years, and there being few new titles in store for the foreseeable future, what better time could there be to bring back this tried-and-true tradition? While the actual realization of it may be doubtful given how rigid both hardware and software prices have become in recent years, that only gives us all the more reason to dream up a hypothetical lineup of our own.

For this article the specific focus will not be on those massive multi-million evergreens that the lineup would no doubt contain a few of to cement its value, but instead on games that for one reason or another fell short of their full potential the first time around and deserve a second chance to reach more players at an affordable price. Let’s get started."

I really want Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Switch, can't believe that hasen't been ported. I'm playing Skyward Sword at the moment and I'm almost finished, but it's so long and the controls are so bad, even without motion. Astral Chain is fantastic though, they should make a sequel.
