Pokémon: Magikarp Jump is a new iOS and Android game, the fourth Pokémon game for the two platforms. Magikarp Jump takes the lamest Pokémon in the entire franchise and makes it the star of the show, with a competition to see who has the highest-jumping Magikarp. Your goal is to train your Magikarp to jump as high as possible and enter the competitions, beating everybody that you can. You can collect coins and diamonds and purchase all kinds of upgrades to max out your Magikarp training abilities.
It is a brave new world for the Pokemon series. Thanks to the prevalence of mobile devices and lowering of walls, all sorts of spin-offs are showing up in new spaces. Android and iOS devices are getting their own kinds of games involving our favorite pocket monsters. None of them are traditional Pokemon titles, but that doesn't mean they don't have value or should be ignored. In fact, people probably should be trying out and experiencing some of the ones immediately available now. (Especially while waiting for the DeNA Pokemon Masters game and the sleep-tracking Pokemon Sleep application.) But, which ones should people consider playing?
Dash The Bomber writes "Magikarp Jump is one of those mobile titles that make people look in disbelief. A game where the objective is to teach Magikarps to be the best like no one ever was... to jump other magikarps is the real test to train Magikarps is your cause. But, your trainer won't be traveling across the land searching far and wide as each Magikarp is found right within the confines of a pond conveniently found in Hoppy Town. Eventually, each Magikarp will understand the power that's inside as they jump towards the heavens in an effort to be a champion of the Magikarp Jump League. But, after a few months out in the market the game has finally been fully updated and complete... with no more updates planned for the future is the game truly any good? The answer is... sometimes."
