Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly - Retro Review

Lex:

A classic and terrifying horror game from Tecmo. Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is one of those classics way back in 2003 that will definitely make you jump from your seat. A person like me doesn’t really like horror games like this. My tolerant gauge in horror titles is so short that I can’t even continue a few more steps inside a creepy house. But going back to Fatal Frame II, it’s actually a fun experience but also frightening at the same time.

I played the OG Xbox game on 360 via BC. Played great and looked perfect. I imported the wii remake as well, but have never actually played it.

Great game and great series..hopefully they would port FF2 Wii remake version on other consoles as they did with FF4 and FF5

Original FEAR is a goddamn masterpiece

Was playing Alien: Isolation again a few weeks ago, still holds up and the AI is incredible.

F.E.A.R. was another amazing game, shame the series went downhill with 2 and then fell off entirely with F3AR.

Couldn’t get into Fatal Frame, bought the remaster on PS5 and just…couldn’t.

I remember the suffering and it was descent game. I always wanted to play Crimson but never got to it.

But honestly, I’ve never played a game that really scared me, like some movies from the past have.

I remember The Suffering 1 and 2. I haven't thought about those games in years. I still remember some parts of the level in the prison where a guy was sucked through a vent screaming. I don't know why that's stuck with me all of these years.

I'm saving RE VIII for when the PS VR2 comes out.
