Interesting viewpoint.

It's an indie developer's dream device for sure.

EddieNX 2968d ago

He means in terms of indie development, devs have slated Nintendo for making it difficult in the past, Anyone can easily slap an indie game on Switch now just like Ps4.

hduce2968d ago

@Foxtrot Someone didn't read the article. The only thing you saw was the title and went into instant defense mode.

AZRoboto2968d ago

A GIF of a drag queen isn't defense mode. Nintendo's online store and setup is still awful; it needs a major overhaul before all these titles come out because content discovery is going to be a real problem.

-Foxtrot2968d ago

Not defence mode when the PS4 has been out for years and has hit high numbers only to see someone say Nintendo is catching up only a month or two in.

To Bianca Del Rio...one of the best drag queens around

Foxtrot, you should try reading the article. I'll give you a hint, it has nothing to do with hardware sales. Makes your comments seem pretty foolish, huh?

Istolla2967d ago (Edited 2967d ago )

You look so stupid right now, it's cringeworthy. Please read the article...

Neonridr2967d ago (Edited 2967d ago )

now now Fox.. don't get all worked up. It's not like he was referring to sales or anything..

but you know, you would have to read beyond the title of the article to understand that, so I guess we were hoping for a little too much from you there :P

BrianIsPeachyKeen2967d ago

You really struggle at clicking and reading don't you?

Good for Switch consumers.

zb1ftw7772968d ago

And the 2 first party games on the switch are already better than anything the xb1 or ps4 has to offer aswell.

quent2968d ago

That would be objectively incorrect my good sir, ps4 got Bloodborne and xb got FH3, which are both exceptional titles

MeteorPanda2968d ago

Woah, you know the zelda game got features cut and delayed so itd butcher the wiiu sales to make it look good on the switch? Also cute blind fanboyism you got there

wonderfulmonkeyman2968d ago

That's a lie; all the DLC that's coming is still under development. Anything that was changed was for parity's sake, which is not a bad thing as most of it was just little stuff, like using the game pad screen for a map.

_-EDMIX-_2968d ago

@mete- lol I mean I don't think there's any evidence that suggests anything was delayed or cut. Even though it is the general popular consensus that yes breath of the wild indeed was delayed for the switch which I actually agree is a likely scenario.

@wonde-just stop you don't have any more information that such a thing didn't happen any more than he does that it did.

I don't know why you thought one ignorant post deserved one just as ignorant

Smh

I think it's humorous that you don't even see that you're essentially just the other side of the same coin.

What he saying is straight based on being a fanboy but what you're saying to be honest is also based on being a fanboy anyway....

I'm not saying he's 100% correct but at the end of the day they are Wii U features removed that never even made sense to be removed considering that was the target audience for that game in the first place.

I'm not going to crucify them because of that decision but I'm also not going to sit here and applaud them for cutting content and releasing a game with missing features, just to make it for the switches launch, that's not really fair for people who waited for the Wii U version only to have it not even use the actual Gamepad despite videos showing the function originally.

I'm not saying you have to bash the company but please stop going hard edge in its defense because some of it sounds just comical and ridiculous to the point where we can't even take anything you say seriously.

I mean have you considered you sound just as crazy as he does? 😂😂😂

MeteorPanda2968d ago (Edited 2968d ago )

@edmix they cut the touch of the gamepad. The menus are...a lot, imagine if the wiiu had say...instant touch? They said it felt better to hide how they cannibalised the wiiu sales to push the switch, thats clear as day as a cut feature. You even confirm it and lm crazy? I didnt buy the game in protest for that act

richyque2967d ago

Its going to nice feeding these switch users crow when their little kiddie console from last gen fails hard like wii u did after a year in a half.

My god give some people an inch, you want to take a mile! The Switch as of now doesn't even have enough 2nd party games on the platform to even make that comparison!

Because Nintendo makes great games.

Yesyes10h ago

It’s unreal that people are downvoting this when they consistently have the best scoring games on metacritic.

rlow11d 6h ago

Well it doesn’t surprise me. As much money as they make and how they value their employees. It’s a great company in that regard.

drivxr1d 3h ago

Well, when your games remain full price many years after release.

And you make profit off of outdated hardware.

I would be shocked if they couldn't afford to retain their staff.

lodossrage1d ago (Edited 1d ago )

I didn't want to say anything but drivxr is right.

Nintendo always sells at a profit because they purposely use tech that's always 5 or more years behind. And it's also true their games hardly ever get price decreases.

Don't get me wrong, it's great they kept most of their workforce, but making a point to have your tech specs behind everyone else affords that luxury.

Darkegg21h ago

I don’t think it’s their purpose to use old tech. It’s their purpose to make value of software and know their value. Nobody makes games like them that’s for sure. I just don’t appreciate their customer unfriendly policy.

It’s not impossible to take their status. Companies need to have a selection of 8-bit and 16-bit. Now imagine a split screen for 8 player game for SNES Mario kart and selling at $9.99. The problem is that it doesn’t make profit. So many companies won’t invest in “old” technology. Everyone guns for triple AAA modern technology software but honestly we can enjoy modernized 16-bit creative ideas that allows 8-player mayhem. It’s a pipe dream, possible but impossible.

Shane Kim22h ago(Edited 22h ago)

If they ended up kicking people out after all of that stated above, it would be truly shameful.

DivineHand12518h ago

Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Tesla and Meta are all trillion dollar companies yet they are laying people off in large numbers.

I believe the reason Nintendo layoffs off less workers may be a result of their culture. It seems Japanese companies believe in giving their workers long term or life long employment opportunities and will exhaust all options before laying off workers. This is something we don't see much of in the west unfortunately.

Rdeal12h ago

might be something to do with the fact all those companies hire more than 20x the employees than Nintendo

LoveSpuds18h ago(Edited 18h ago)

What the hell are you talking about? It has nothing to do with how profitable they are. Its completely cultural, MS and Sony make stacks of cash and still lay folks off. Nintendo chose not to lay off staff for the same reason their execs took pay cuts to increase staff pay instead; because they value their staff and view them as colleagues, and respect them as such.

If Sony weren't so US centric I fancy they'd fare better too, they should get shot of US and European leadership and go back to when Japanese execs were running the show if you ask me!

It’s really old now. All great MMOs decline.

PRIMORDUS1d 7h ago

Also who wants to keep paying a monthly fee every month, there are other options like Guild Wars 2 😁with no monthly fee and while not that many people overall compared to FF XIV, it did increase to about 21 mil now.

Sephiroushin21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

I prefer to pay since i do not like guild wars and it keep kids away, but FF14 decreased on quality since they started to make it "more accessible", tried throne and liberty and while it was okay it has so many issues, same for dune awakening... Its time to start making a new FF MMO

TheColbertinator1d 13h ago

Time for the Final Fantasy 17 MMO

kaewcha7341d 8h ago

Looks like Square Enix is self-aware but still stuck in place, they see the player drop and apologize for the bugs, but nothing really changes. Shame, FFXIV used to be the gold standard

Servbot411d 7h ago

My entire free company has stopped playing. The writing has consistently gotten worse and the content is sparse and lacking; unless you are a hardcore player there's very little for you to do. They are over-catering to the people who will grind three+ times a week on a single fight for multiple months when the playerbase by large doesn't want that sort of content. Square needs to dedicate more resources to the game instead of wasting them on mobile and other live service slop.

Miraak82 1d 1h ago

The biggest factor for me is the way they butchered job design over the years , the casualization and over simplification really hurt a good chunk of enjoyment I used to have . Jobs lost any form of complexity and just became " press glowing button" DDR style for fighting where the gameplay loop is a about the 2 minute burst window . They removed most DoTS, timer mechanics , cast times, pets, RNG ect and all around homogenized everything . When you try and can cater to everyone ... you cater to no one .
