Controllers look nice but the headset probably can't compete with Oculus and HTC, comparable to PSVR I would say but the price is nice.

Muadiib2566d ago

I've used a Rift and a PSVR and the latter had the much better headset despite the lower resolution.

PlayableGamez-2566d ago

It already does with it's price.
Aesthetics may not be impressive, but that price sure is.

christocolus2566d ago (Edited 2566d ago )

@Moldy

Actually for Windows Mixed Reality Headsets

FOV is a bit smaller but Res is higher

PSVR = 1080*960 per eye
Oculus & Vive = 1080*1200 per eye
Acer & HP WMR = 1440*1440 per eye

LexHazard792566d ago (Edited 2566d ago )

What I like about the MS compatible MR is there will be options. You're not tied to just one set. The prices are suppose to be pretty sweet too..
This is good overall for VR and those who support the movement.

iNcRiMiNaTi2566d ago

Hopefully it'll be compatible with steam and not exclusive to the games they release on their windows store like they've been doing with alot of their games.

Eldyraen2566d ago

Well Acer is just one headset and an affordable bundle to get people started. The controller itself is designed for use with other companies in mind as well (HP for example is another but not shown as a bundle as far as I've seen).

LexHazard792566d ago

Moldy believe it or not the MR headset has better specs than PSVR.

DigitalRaptor2565d ago (Edited 2565d ago )

These are LCD. PSVR are OLED. https://twitter.com/kentbye...

Nice try though - looking forward to more of your fantastic comparisons.

Things are going to get interesting for VR and AR with a new player joining in. From Facebook, Valve and Sony having or are creating VR social places to gather, play and talk about games. Looks like Microsoft might have one too.It's good for gamers getting Scorpio.

The question underneath it all is "what about the 25-30 million current and future Xbox one owners by this fall?" Will they get at least one of these headsets to join in on the fun?

Maybe one of the huge surprises at E3 is that they will have current Xbox one support. Goes against the previous "high fidelity" talk. But, since they removed those words from their website
https://gamerant.com/xbox-s...
Maybe that means VR is coming to current owners which will be good for everybody from developers to gamers. And "high fidelity" VR will be on Scorpio. Also, no need for Kinect as tracking is built into the mix reality headsets. Since Acer's headset costs $399 with Microsoft's controllers, maybe that's why Sony is now including the camera with PSVR for $399. Who knows. Maybe the move controllers might be tossed in too by the fall.

E3 will be interesting. I think that's the megaton surprise as Phil can't leave those Xbox owners out of the picture. Wouldn't be right. That's my prediction.

@Apocalypse Shadow
"The question underneath it all is "what about the 25-30 million current and future Xbox one owners by this fall?" Will they get at least one of these headsets to join in on the fun?"

Doubtful but what do you care? Are PS4 pro owners going to play Fallout 4 in VR or will they be held back by Sony's parity clause just like how Driveclub was in VR that had to have serious concessions put into place like less cars onscreen at once? This is something you should be more concerned with since you know, you own the device and not an Xbox One.

The Xbox One was never marketed for VR and it's even less powerful than the PS4, I would imagine the experience wouldn't be that great.

andrewsquall2566d ago

So now all of a sudden Bethesda are the most insane elite graphical technological geniuses of all time and build a brand new Fallout experience form the ground up for GDDR5 architecture. Sure moldy, whatever you say lol.
Its the GDDR5 PS4 that will be holding back Fallout VR and not the very developers themselves like they ALWAYS do with their games.

Why do you ALWAYS bring up this VR "parity clause" when NON VR Scorpio "exclusives" are going to be suffering because of the "parity clause" Microsoft has with the disgustingly dated 2004 ddr3 Xbone console???
I mean does VR mean THAT much to you? Why is it the end all now all of a sudden? Its sounds like its the game changer for you at E3 you've brought it up so much.

ShadowKnight2566d ago (Edited 2566d ago )

@andrew

Yup

Well over 7.5 million PS4 owners bought the game so it would be a shame if Sony's parity clause is what's keeping it from coming at least to PS4 pro owners. Todd Howard already stated it needs good horsepower to run in VR at the Scorpio reveal.

@ShadowKnight
"He's hilarious ain't he"

What's even more hilarious is watching you and the rest of your clan run around acting like Scorpio is no big deal and how meaningless Scorpios power while you buy your expensive PC hardware. Don't worrry, you can always go into Fallout 4 VR topics in the future and tell everyone how you are playing it on your PC. Then put on your Hyde suit and tell everyone how fun Star Trek Bridge Crew is in PSVR topics without ever muttering a word about your PC.

Goldby2566d ago

Moldy

Just stop with the hate already.
You say that fallout VR can't be run on the pro due to parity clause.
1-fallout ain't that good at least 4 isn't that good.
2-if the ps4 can't handle it there goes the "no one left behind" for Xbox as the one users won't be able to play it. Personally I wouldn't want to separate my users into people who can play if they buy a headset and people who can't play even if they buy a headset.
3beyond what seems to be your beliefs. There's more than just fallout available on ps4. I don't know why you keep bringing that up. Why not talk about how awesome the metrics are gonna be for ms when VR comes out. 3 million VR users sitting in a drivers seat last year. 5 million people throwing up in VR while suffering from rad poisoning

I love the persistent double standards coming from moldybread.

A couple of days ago he complained about "trolls", and it's so funny to see him continuing to use your comments as a springboard to troll on Sony and PS4 Pro etc even though you left a comment that barely even mentioned Sony or the PS4. It goes to show that he's just got it in for you mate, and his replies to you are opportunities for him to try and ease out some kind of hypocrisy - but all that does is backfire on him.

This dude is just undeniably insecure, and hypocritical, and well... I could go on but you get the idea.

@ Goldby

Smashed him right in the bullsh*t with some insane logic there. 👍
Another exposure in the satchel.

DigitalRaptor2565d ago (Edited 2565d ago )

@ andrewsquall

Look at how he just cherry-picked your comment and ignored the entire second paragraph that exposes his hypocrisy levels. He called out Sony fans for "cherry-picking" parts of comments in the past. Insane lack of self-awareness in this individual.

@ moldybread

"Something you should be more concerned with since you know, you own the device and not an Xbox One."
- You've been more "concerned" with PS4 (without actually owning it) than most on here.

1) There wasn't a strong Xbox-centric attitude to the reveal of these "Mixed Reality" headsets.
2) Microsoft even updated the description to remove the mention of "high-fidelity VR" from their official Scorpio detail page ( https://gamerant.com/xbox-s... ), so I'm not sure where your level of confidence about Scorpio actually being able to handle these uncompromised AAA high-end games like you keep on suggesting.

ShadowKnight2566d ago

I'm sure they'll talk about this a lot at their press conference

gangsta_red2566d ago

"While it wasn’t mentioned by name and no further details were provided, it could be a prototype or a concept visualization of the “Metaverse” mentioned yesterday by Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer, allowing gamers to actually interact with their friends’ avatars in a mixed reality space over Xbox Live."

The Lawnmower Man is finally here.

Eldyraen2566d ago

Sea of Thieves? It could be a cool VR social play title imo.

LexHazard792566d ago

Guess the idea of playing a pirate game in VR is getting some sea sick!

Gazondaily2566d ago

Haha it's the SALT water 😂

Pancit_Canton2566d ago

I think this is just going to be another Kinect for MS. They just don't have developers or studios to support that thing. They couldn't even support the regular xbox one with games, yet alone this one. I don't even think the Xbone is VR ready for those 30 million owners.

LexHazard792566d ago

Kinect sold more than PSVR..😂

candystop2566d ago

And "Move" plus had many many games!

goatking2566d ago

By over 20 million, but it was cheaper, and seems a bit more mainstream, and psvr still can still get some great sales(its done decent so far), but it won't get huge numbers at its current rate.

Pancit_Canton2566d ago

You mean by forcing consumers and lying that it's a mandatory peripheral.

TheUndertaker852566d ago (Edited 2566d ago )

@Pancit_Canton: Kinect was manadatory?

Oh, you mean Kinect 2.0 which is no longer mandatory.

Sorry to burst that bubble but Kinect 1.0 outsold PSVR & Move. Even with four year old figures.
https://www.gamespot.com/ar...

Moreover it has been stated they don't expect more than 10% of the user base to buy PSVR.
https://www.polygon.com/201...

DigitalRaptor2565d ago (Edited 2565d ago )

His comment is about development and games.
Not about how many soccer moms were won over by Oprah Winfrey's ringing endorsement. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Kinect never had a Resident Evil 7 moment in its entire tenure.
While PSVR had that moment in it's 4th month on the market.

Awesome though i hope the collection is around 30/40 dollars as any higher would be unfair for those of us waiting for the anti gamer EGS exclusive deal to expire.
