To be honest, IGN wasn't expecting to get much out of Carnival Games on the Nintendo DS, so their lowered expectations probably helped lift their enjoyment of the product. The product doesn't quite hit the target in a lot of places, but it's pretty clear that the developer put a bit more effort into its game than some other developers put into their own "cash-in casual" titles.
