Désilets: I Had To Come Up with Political Lying While at Ubisoft When Doing Interviews

Patrice Désilets, the creator of Assassin's Creed, said that during his time at Ubisoft he had to come up with political lying in interviews and explain decisions by others. This eventually led him to leave the company.

He also said he'll eventually make 1666: Amsterdam, after Ancestors.

Sadly not a huge surprise. Ubisoft have become quite renowned for their deceptiveness. They've lied about so many things, from DRM to Micro Transactions and even to the actual quality of the games. To force a games producer to 'politically lie' is wrong, simple as.

Not a huge surprise now. But wait until next Gen when people go online to download their digital games to a replaced xbox, or replacement hard drive. And never can because the servers have been discontinued. Until Microsoft says something other than 'we don't have any plans to turn them off' I'm not biting. That is the oldest play on words in the history of marketing. Tell me we will keep them online for x amount of years, with no added conditions, and fast enough to not have timeout erros.

What does any of this have to do with Microsoft?

ops I posted this on the wrong N4G Article page.

It sounded more like because Ubi is such a big company, he didn't have the control he wanted. So, he'd inevitably have to do interviews where he'd have to promote aspects of the game that he would have prefered to have done differently.
It's the nature of the beast. With so many people having an input there needs to be some compromise or it'll finish up as a mess or never come out.
There's probably some folks in his new company frustrated at some decisions he's making now and doing the same thing.

Ubisoft going into the door of Tartaros. Honestly I want them to their just desserts.

Ubisoft, EA and Activision. The three headed beast that is devouring the lamb of gaming.

Imp0ssibl32916d ago

That might be just a tad exaggerated...

Isnt this coming from the same guy that said he hates men and refuses to hire them no matter how great they might be at their job. He's just a shitty SJW who has had a hand at ruining the industry in order to pander to whoever can bitch and moan the loudest. Fuck you Patrice!

EatCrow2916d ago

He was joking.
The media twisted it and turned it into an SJW thing.

This means they will likely be more open-ended decisions; speed runners may be in for a treat.

Christopher1d 13h ago (Edited 1d 13h ago )

I'll believe it when I see it. I also don't feel Bethesda games are stat intensive as it is, though. It seems pretty basic.

jznrpg1d 9h ago

Bleh I want more stats not less. So lame going for casuals

isarai1d 8h ago

Aren't RPGs SUPPOSED to be stat heavy? So are they leaning even more away from being an RPG? Ugh ☹️

If this guy was floored, the bar has been set comically low. The thing barely works.

Give us FO3 with all the dlc remastered like ESO. Load times faster, quality of life improvements, gun play improvements

I believe it shouldn't just be graphical they should make improvements where they can to make the game better. A simple face lift isn't what's needed

ZeekQuattro2d ago

Still my favorite one. I remember getting a digital copy of FO3 when I got FO4(XBO). It was nice to finally play a stable version of the game. Then when I got a Series S it was an even better expierence. Quick resume and FPS boost made it feel like a whole new game. Updated gunplay would be very welcome though. One of the few things FO4 did better.
