Voodoo Vince and Blinx are of the few original 3D platformer francbises that Microsoft produced

skycaptin52982d ago

I wonder if Blinx will get a similar remastered treatment since Voodoo Vince and Phantom Dust are

The company that created Blinx, Artoon, closed back in 2010. The director/founder Naoto Ohshima hasn't done anything big for a while.

FallenAngel19842982d ago

Unlikely since Blinx was received as critically well as those titles

freshslicepizza2982d ago

they own rare, which means they also own banjoo and kameo among others.

FallenAngel19842982d ago

Yeah but they didn't help create Banjo-Kazooie. In fact the helped in making the franchise go dormant. Let's not even talk about what they did with Conker recently.

In fact most of the great games offered in Rare Replay were on non-Microsoft consoles

And now Microsoft is forcing you to rebuy it creating hypocrisy on N4G.

Microsoft is all about BC but voodoo Vince was never BC on Xbox 360.

They now make it compatible on Xbox one but you have to buy it just like the digital remasters on PS4 that added trophies.

Any gamer that gave Sony flack now have crow to chew. Personally, I'm okay with it. Crimson skies should be next. But oh the hypocrisy.

Patriot4Life2982d ago

I am going to bite the bate.

Yes MS are hypocrites and deserve to burn.

Hope you sleep better.

"They now make it compatible on Xbox one but you have to buy it just like the digital remasters on PS4 that added trophies."

Comparing this VV remaster to PS2-to-PS4 titles is a false equivalence. Those PS4 ports, unless stated otherwise by the game's description, you're talking about get the bare minimum treatment to run on this-gen hardware: trophy support & expected aspect ratio update. VV Remastered got...the remaster treatment. For visuals, it's not just roughshod port work but of a team rewriting the rendering engine. And a minor gameplay addition like controller rumble comes included here. While none of these are HUGE deals, there's a semblance of hard work going into this project. All while costing the exact same price many standard PS2-to-PS4 ports cost.

Not with this example, no. Now if you're talking about the upcoming Phantom Dust? All signs point to that indeed being the same thing as the standard PS2-to-PS4 port. The only saving grace is if it--hopefully--doesn't go for the standard price of $15. If it is a bit too pricey, then some crow is being eaten. But then it's also fair to note just how infrequently MS-funded/published re-releases have gotten this level of treatment on XJuan. A very rare exception rather than a rule.

The Hidden Gems of Xbox Exclusives

Richard writes: "The original Xbox had a huge breadth of genres and types of games in its exclusive catalogue, a variety that I don't think was ever matched by future iterations of Xbox. Many of these games, a lot of people don’t know about, which is a shame because they are truly great. All of these hidden gems are worth a try and some can even be played easily on the Xbox One."
