3 GameCube Games That Still Haven’t Been Trumped By Sequels

"Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is a GameCube sequel to the unique 2.5D role-playing game for the Nintendo 64. The game is zany and over-the-top and its comedy hits all the right notes throughout the charming 30-40 hour story." -- Nintendo Enthusiast

One of the best Mario RPGs right next to Mario RPG Super Nintendo.

I can't believe they have never been able to take the Thousand Year Door gameplay and make a better game out of it.

Luigis Mansion is another game they've never been able to top. Dark Moon was awful compared to the original and I hope they just stick to the fact that in some regions they didn't call it Luigis Mansion 2, I'd rather see a real sequel on the Switch.

Luigi's Mansion 3 needs to have only one big giant, immaculately designed mansion like the original (but even better of course). And each of the ghosts need to be unique in design and battle like the original. You can thank the sales of the second one that we will get a third though.

WOW stand back there buddy that's too easy and sounds like a lot of common sense there!!!

You're going to tell Nintendo this and they're going to say something like

"So what we heard is have the Mansions distributed into levels instead"

😂😂😂

Agreed 100%

Leave it to Nintendo to screw that up. They were basically including things and the other two Paper Mario games that nobody was asking for it was like every single time these people touch the game they kept including crap that was just not being asked for even slightly.

All I wanted from Luigi's Mansion 2 was simply give me one damn Mansion to explore like the first game and instead they managed to royally screw that up.

I don't know what is it with this company but they seem to have this desperation of trying to reinvent and change Concepts that no one has been asking them to do in the first place.

I would argue that they've lost market share because of this ,they have managed to destroy so many Concepts that people might have been fans of those original titles have very little hope for their sequels simply because of all the dumb mistakes that this company has made things basically wasted the installed base of people that originally even like these titles.

It's like I'm not really worried about the announcement of Luigi's Mansion 3 or another paper Mario I'm actually worried about the quality of it so getting excited for the game is almost meaningless in lukewarm because there's always some crap this company screwed up.

This is one of those situations where it makes more sense pictures of follow the same concept people could dog on Call of Duty in Assassin's Creed for being very similar every release but for god sakes at least they're giving their fanbase exactly what they're asking for in the first place.

Mario Kart Double Dash is overrated. Mario Kart 8 is a league better than Double Dash.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle yeah. Sonic Colors comes close for me though.

Moonman2171d ago (Edited 2171d ago )

With Double Dash, having 4 players to ride 2 in each cart is key. That is what makes the game fun. Working together. It was designed for multiplayer. But I agree Mario Kart 8 is so silky smooth, it's so beautiful and the tracks are so fun. And DD battle mode was so awesome....now Mario Kart 8 finally can attempt to trump that battle mode. I hope it does! I would love to get DK Mountain from Double Dash though. ;p

Pookandpie2171d ago

@ Moonman I concur.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe looks like it's shaping up to be the best Mario Kart title we've seen since Double Dash. An actual battle mode + battle mode maps, carrying two items, tons of characters, etc., and the great thing about 8 is that its track list was already extremely solid.

I'm definitely looking forward to 8 Deluxe.

Mario kart 8 is way way better than double dash! Double dash was insane at the time though

Yeah, Double Dash was loads of fun and the the 2 characters per kart was pretty sweet. They also need to bring back the special items. However the gameplay is just flat out not as good as the more recent ones. Even going back and playing it after Mario Kart Wii I was surprised at how easy and simplistic it was. The newer Mario Karts require a lot more technique and skill to really get good at the game.

Glad he put Sonic Adventure 2: Battle as an honorable mention. I do think it hasn't been topped in terms of story/gameplay/systems/etc . . . But it just has far too many problems and frustrating moments to definitively declare it a better game than Colors or Generations. Camera issues, control issues, some incredibly frustrating levels, weird difficulty spikes, etc . . .

I'd gotten over 150 of the emblems in the game and then my GC memory card corrupted. We lost all our save data. I've got like 120 in a new save file but I can't bring myself to go through the trouble of collecting them all.
