Nintendo Has a Lot of Work to Do if They Want to Take This Year

Nintendo has had a great opening to the year with the launch of the Switch, but it's going to take a lot more work if they want to take this year.

Nice article, they seem poised to do it. It would be one thing (and still a good thing) if restocks took a few days to sellout, but they still go in a matter of minutes. This kind of demand is insane.

Yeah it's pretty crazy. The restock that they had at toysrus a couple of weeks ago had a line like it was launch day. This console can be a huge success if nintendo can keep the steady line of games coming. This console is going to be hard as hell to get this holiday season and if nintendo makes a full animal crossing game or a pokemon game, it'll be impossible to find this console.

Nintendo isn't competing against Sony and MS, they can't and already lost. Their focus needs to be on themselves and creating exclusives for their new console. Nintendos issue has always been nintendo.

I'm not sure what you're talking about , but when they started calling this a Home console and selling it at 299 they begin competing against the PlayStation 4 at the end of the day this holiday season parents will be making their choice to either pay for the more expensive system that has less games or a cheaper system that has the most.

Their focus should have been on obtaining a third-party I would argue that Nintendo's problem is their focus has actually been so much on what they want that they failed to understand that third-party needs that Hardware to support the platform in the first place.

we've seen them make some waves was having a more simple architecture which is seeing them get a lot of support but they can't stop there.

You could believe that Nintendo isn't competing against the PlayStation 4 and Xbox one but you might want to tell Nintendo that , they're the ones that are openly marketing this as a Home console....

I think It's already too late this year. Sony has the momentum already and I don't it's stopping anytime soon with all the exclusive line up this year.

It's waaaaaaay too soon to say that, especially since most of the third parties that have promised their support to the Switch have yet to reveal their hands.
We already know that there's a ton of RPG's on the way, for instance, including a new Tales Of title, that will hit the Switch and bolster demand even more.
E3, and any Directs before and after, will be big factors in deciding if the Switch can start catching up fast or not.

Not are I disagree with you as you are to a degree correct. It just that January to June belongs to Sony as all the exclusives they have released and we still have ffxiv storm blood expac, crash bandicoot and Wipeout HD in June.

Half the year is in Sony's favor so it'll be up to ninty or MS to take the other half which will still be a challenge because sony still has dreams, gran turismo sport and ni no kuni 2 slated for release this year along with others I may be forgetting.

Scorpio, switch and a bunch of exclusives from Sony, this year is gonna be one to look back on. E3 will be fun.

Though not to make it seem like against ninty, botw was a stellar start for he switch and if e3 gets us a new metroid and smash or smash port then nintendo will be pegged to be Giants of their new generation.

I mean sure but I don't think Nintendo's going to take this year I think there's just too much stacked against them with the PlayStation 4 just being a cheaper system with a crap load of third-party support and their own Juggernaut exclusives.

I think Nintendo's focus should be Beyond 2017.

I think they'll probably do just fine with Mario Odyssey at the ending of this year.

As long as they get Arms, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Super Mario Odyssey out this year I think they will be alright. They really need to give consumers more to look forwards to next year. If they get the announced games out on time, announce one more surprise for this year at E3 (Animal Crossing), and give us a peek at two or three more big titles for next year (Pokemon, Metroid, and Super Mario Maker 2 or something), I think they will be on the right track.

They don't need to take this year or any. They just need to be successful and bring us great 1st & 3rd party. Only fanboys care for console wars... they just need to do well. So far they are. Lets see this topic again after the holiday season.

They need games period! And I'm not talking bout snipperclips or whatever bullshit cheap indie game that is! Since they're CLEARLY gonna have no 3rd party support they need to be busting they're asses to make as many big main 1st party games they can and fast and don't take 3 yrs to make these games. Like a new Super Smash, an actual new proper Mario Kart sequel, a PROPER Metroid sequel for christs sake!, a console Pokémon game, a good Star Fox game, Donkey Kong sequel, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, and any other old 1st party games that they haven't made in yrs! If they don't pump out 1st party games fast and often the Switch is gonna have the same fate the Wii U did! Period get on it Nintendo and hurry the fuck up!!

Based on your assumption, Nintendo would have been bankrupt since a long time ago because no one know their games and buy their games. And i guess Asia nor Japan is not big enough to be a gaming market in your eyes. Only NA buy games.

Nintendo needs to open virtual console to keep games coming. Noone wants shitty indies cos it seems like thats the direction Nintendo is going. They should add wii-u games as digital. Apart from mario kart, xenoverse 2 and mario odyssey, there doesnt seem to be much going for it this year
