‘No Man’s Sky’ Hello Games Hiring Programmers, Directors After Recent Departures

‘No Man’s Sky’ developer Hello Games is making some critical hires. The tiny indie team is looking for directors and programmers to polish its universe of 18 quintillion planets.

Perjoss3000d ago

You must have missed the 2 big free updates they put out.

thorstein3000d ago

That troll doesn't own a PS4.

gangsta_red2999d ago

I also missed all the features that were promised for this game.

dirkdady2999d ago (Edited 2999d ago )

Gangsta, u say that but if you could produce just a list of just a few of these so-called missing features and a direct quote where Sean Murray stated this we would probably take you more seriously instead of as a troll.

Exoil2999d ago

@thorstein: I see you have crawled back out from under that rock you´ve been hiding under since a couple of weeks after NMS released.

I appreciate that they try to fix the game, I really do. I hope they manage to patch it and bring all the content that was talked about before release but not present at release.
But no one in their right mind can say that Sean Murray didn't lie in all those interviews when asked about features in the game that he knew wasn't in there. The only ones who´s able to defend Hello Games and primarily Sean is the one´s like Thorstein who wouldn't admit they´re wrong even if their mothers lives depended on it.

I bought the game, I got the platinum and I sold it so that someone didn't have to pay full price as I did, only to realize they had been lied to.

thorstein2999d ago

Sorry Exoil

I defended the game after launch, simply because there was way too much misinformation about what sites were claiming v what Sean Murray claimed.

Were some things missing like being able to name your ship and weapon? Yes. Did the game (especially the interface) look like what we were shown? No.

Did people claim it was some sort of MP romp through the universe? Yes. Did Sean Murray promise that? No.
Did I get the game that was promised on the About page and talked about in print media for 3 years? Pretty much. It was a space exploration game.
Were there large scale space battles from the start? Yes.
Did hostile creatures attack each other? Yes.

Was it a perfect 10/10? No. It received good scores from the media.

Did it receive far more hate than hype? Absolutely. Was the hate justified? No.

"Crawled out from under a rock?" Don't think so, bub. Been here the whole time. Just calling out lame hateboys like gangsta who doesn't even own a PS4.

He sucks so bad at trolling though, that it is fun to point out his sad, little existence.

rainslacker2999d ago

He also missed that these features were offered until the internet told him to be pissed off that they weren't included.

Gangsta never had an interest in the game, can't recall him saying anything good before release, never brought the game, never played the game, but he sure as heck is pissed off at what was delivered.

Go figure.

gangsta_red2998d ago

@Rainslacker

"Gangsta never had an interest in the game, can't recall him saying anything good before release, never brought the game, never played the game, but he sure as heck is pissed off at what was delivered."

Interesting...

http://n4g.com/news/1565347...

*Everyone everywhere knows that this was the most exciting trailer shown at E3.*

http://n4g.com/news/1950659...

*I wouldn't say "lie", I don't believe Murray and crew intended anything with malicious intent....*

Those are just a few I found right off the bat.

Funny how Rainslacker couldn't recall if I ever said anything good about the game but certainly knew I never played the game.

He was right about the bought part, I rented it from Gamefly.

Go figure.

Bonus:

https://archive.is/wzDnJ

Here is an actual conversation between me and Rainslacker talking about my concerns for NMS. And oh look, he's being just as big of a pompous ass as he is here. Shocker!

gangsta_red2998d ago

@thorstein

Did Murray deliver the game he showed in all those events? No.

Was the game UI as faulty and confusing as hell? Yes.

Was the wild life shown in the demos as engaging and compelling as Murray showed off in his demos? No.

Did each ship handled differently according to size like Murray said? No

Was the most challenege this game gave as a player just managing your inventory constantly? Yes.

Is this game the very definition of over hype do to a developer over promising and under delivering on release? Yes.

Am i the only one who had this opinion of the game? Hell no.

But of course i dont own a ps4 right?
Even though you dont need a ps4 to play this game because...its...also...on...PC .

I have to get my xfinity security checked out because Rainslacker and Thorstein seem to know a lot about what I do and dont own...how is that?

Gazondaily2998d ago

WOW rainslacker... any comments to add after acting like a complete tosspot?

Gazondaily2998d ago

Lol at rainslackers old comments about the premise of the game being simple and including trading and proper end game lmfao.....

And still has the gall to defend this tripe? Are you kidding me?

While Hello Games Hiring hope Sean Murray got the PINK SLIP.

isa_scout3000d ago

He's the studio founder, you expecting him to fire himself? No Mans Sky is actually turning into a very good game since the recent updates. If they add multiplayer people will stream back to it.

3000d ago
Irishguy953000d ago

Its turned into an Okay game. Probably a year from now it will be a good game. Its good in its own ways but still hasn't got any longetivity imo.

And disregarding the quality of the game, NMS still deserves any and all hate it gets, due to tthe nature of its release

subtenko3000d ago

you can tell whos on the ignorant bandwagon by the people still trashing the game...

Irishguy953000d ago

Its not just the game, its the company and team who made it who get hate, and then...by extension, the game.

Retroman2999d ago

If Mr. Murray the studio founder i feel sorry for Hello Games then . They're repretation is over dead far as im concern. All Sean Murray doing now should been in the game from the jump. just like 2015 reboot nfs Ghost Games added drag racing, larger Garage , hot rods ,circuit tracks etc.._ All these features should been in the game from the beginning . for those reasons i did not buy either half-arse made games .

Kribwalker2998d ago

@princeali
Wow, speaking of people giving their opinion on things they have no interest in

August 9, 2016 is when it released....and you're still salty about it.

Sad, sad troll. No one loves you.

But the awesome game that I platinum'd was worth every penny.

Irishguy952999d ago

You platinum'd this game? Holy crap you have low standards. I hope that doesn't carry onto every aspect of your life. You'll get all sorts of infections and diseases...

Wow I just compared NMS to a disease. And it was appropriate!

Retroman2999d ago

No one give a crap what you think gamers still salty about NMS
if i choose NMS to be the GREATEST piece of SHE-IT for next 100 years thats my choice .
I would never buy it even if Sean Murray gave out free 100 dollar bill in each game jacket.
Each planet still have Rainbow coloring, still SHE-IT to do on the planet . what is their to do besides collecting minerals ,fossil for fuel? Not a dayum thing but wasting time hop from one planet to the next doing same SHE-IT . for those reasons i got my REFUND.

Exoil2999d ago

Hey @irishguy, I got the platinum too. I won't say the game is crap, because it isn't. But it wasn't at all what was promised and I have been telling people that since then.

Sheeps like Thorstein might re surface now, but who cares what people like he thinks? He got the golden shower from Sean like the rest of us, but he enjoyed it.

isa_scout2999d ago

I'd bet Irishguy95 didn't even play this game. If we're gonna start crucifying ever dev/publisher that lies, deceives or doesn't deliver on promises to it's customers then there'd be no games left to play. Sony,MS,Rockstar,Bethesda,EA,U bisoft,Activision,Take-Two,WB, Gearbox would all be bankrupt. I'm not saying No Mans Sky is a great game, but it is a good game.

thorstein2999d ago

@GT

Relax bub, my praise of the game is equal to your dislike of the game and we both have opinions about it.

But, it's April. The game came out last August. This guy is still so angry about it that he continues to troll every single thread on the game. EVERY. SINGLE. THREAD.

There are games that came out this year and last year and the year before that I don't like. I haven't uttered a word about them, let alone troll the comments sections on everyone of them for 9 months.

Women have gotten pregnant and delivered a baby since the launch of the game. I am just calling out SHE-IT like this Salty SHE-IT right here.

lol that'd be the best April Fool's joke ever

joethetimelord3000d ago

Directors and programmers hauled ass after NMS tanked?

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

monkeyfox3000d ago

1.8m sold on ps4, 800k on pc. The game did anything but tank, which is why they are now hiring.

joethetimelord3000d ago

Could've sworn recent departures were why they're now hiring.

Marathon Development Update

Marathon was slated to launch on Sept. 23, 2025 across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, but Bungie will share the new release date in the fall.

Jin_Sakai1d 15h ago

Probably best just cancel it. The game has flop written all over it.

-Foxtrot1d 18h ago

Yeah, you can delay it as much as you want but you ain’t gonna wash that stink off.

Killer2020UK1d 16h ago

It will lessen though and possibly make all the difference if it launches in a state that rectified a lot of the issues people had with it. A LOT of ifs of course.

RaidenBlack1d 14h ago

If you really gotta play ... play the better extraction shooter this year : ARC Raiders

ZeekQuattro1d 18h ago

Delaying the inevitable. Bungie hoping the negative publicity will blow over. 🙄

darthv721d 17h ago

They can't cancel it until a themed controller has been released first... like concord.

ZeekQuattro1d 14h ago

I anxiously wait for that and a Marathon Secret Level episode.

GamingManiac1d 10h ago

$10 says it'll have the stolen artwork on it lolol

dveio1d 17h ago

If they were absolutely certain about the quality of Marathon, then they had not delayed it just now.

So they've basically just confirmed what everyone, well, a lot of people saw: Marathon is not ready yet, still no soul to be seen.

Tacoboto1d 16h ago

"Doubling down on the Marathon Universe"

They're doubling down on soul, thank goodness this feedback illuminated that for them...

RaidenBlack1d 14h ago

and N4G was littered with comments like : Marathon looks really good, maybe you're a hater and the likes blah blah ... especially under articles which compared it with Arc Raiders ....

Inside the ‘Dragon Age’ Debacle That Gutted EA’s BioWare Studio

The latest game in BioWare’s fantasy role-playing series went through ten years of development turmoil

In early November, on the eve of the crucial holiday shopping season, staffers at the video-game studio BioWare were feeling optimistic. After an excruciating development cycle, they had finally released their latest game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and the early reception was largely positive. The role-playing game was topping sales charts on Steam, and solid, if not spectacular, reviews were rolling in.

HyperMoused6d ago

Its easy they called the die hard fans people in their nerd caves who will buy anything and then went woke to reach modern audiences....insulting the nerds in their caves along the way showing utter contempt for their fan base. very hapy it failed and any company who insults their fan base and treat their customers with contempt and insults, in future, i also hope fail.

neutralgamer19926d ago

It’s disappointing but not surprising to see what's happening with Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the broader situation at BioWare. The layoffs are tragic — no one wants to see talented developers lose their jobs. But when studios repeatedly create games that alienate their own fanbase, outcomes like this become unfortunately predictable.

There’s a pattern we’re seeing far too often: beloved franchises are revived, only to be reshaped into something almost unrecognizable. Changes are made that no one asked for, often at the expense of what originally made these games special. Then, when long-time fans express concern or lose interest, they’re told, “This game might not be for you.” But when those same fans heed that advice and don’t buy the game, suddenly they're labeled as toxic, sexist, bigoted, or worse.

Let’s be clear: the overwhelming majority of gamers have no issue with diversity, LGBTQ+ representation, or strong female leads. In fact, some of the most iconic characters in gaming — like Aloy, Ellie, or FemShep — are proof that inclusivity and excellent storytelling can and do go hand in hand. The issue arises when diversity feels performative, forced, or disconnected from the narrative — when characters or themes are inserted not to serve the story, but to satisfy a corporate DEI checklist. Audiences can tell the difference.

When studios chase approval from a vocal minority that often doesn’t even buy games — while simultaneously dismissing loyal fans who actually do — they risk not just the success of individual titles, but the health of their entire studio. Telling your core customers “don’t buy it if you don’t like it” is not a viable business strategy. Because guess what? Many of us won’t. And when the game fails commercially, blaming those very fans for not supporting it is both unfair and self-defeating.

Gamers aren’t asking for less diversity or less progress. We’re asking for better writing, thoughtful character development, and a respect for the franchises we’ve supported for decades. When you give people great games that speak to them — whether they’re old fans or new players — they will show up. But if you keep making games for people who don’t play them, don’t be surprised when those who do stop showing up

Armaggedon6d ago

I thought the writing and character development were fine. Sometimes things just dont resonate with people.
