Mass Effect Andromeda PS4 Pro vs PS4 1080p Screenshot Comparison: You'll Have to Squint on This One

Mass Effect Andromeda certainly looks a bit better on PS4 Pro if you're limited by a 1080p screen, but the difference with the standard PS4 is not huge.

Honestly not much of a difference

Abriael2996d ago

Indeed. I expected a bit more. The most impactful difference is actually ambient occlusion, which is unexpected.

After Horizon this game doesn't look very impressive to begin with. I guess that game spoiled me.

yezz2995d ago

Yeah seriously, what's with the super low textures on rocks for example. Looks horrible compared to Dice games.

bluefox7552995d ago

Right? If GG can do it, why can't they? They've really risen the bar on how to make a game for the Pro.

RegorL2995d ago

Some pre-rendered cut scenes impress you? (it is really well done)
Would not be an option for ME:A as you can configure your whole appearance.

(I Repeat this here)
NFS, also Frostbite, went all in as it was only cars that were configurable - it rendered your custom car into live action with real actors - best human animation ever... (what is really the difference between pre-rendered and pre-filmed?)

Nyxus2995d ago

Not sure what you mean. I'm talking about the game in general, in-game graphics. I mean, just compare these:

RegorL2994d ago

@Nyxus there will be other types of planets...

Raiden2994d ago

NOW, ,stop wi the BS, because that means every game is going to disappoint if you keep on making comparisons to a game that offers only a one time play through with no real reason to replay, stop with this people, yes HZD is awesome looking single player game, it took them 7yrs to make to tweak to the game that it is, everyone is just keeps on comparing every single game to this Witcher 3 was compared to this and that came out last year, we have dead souls 3 coming next, are going to make the comparison with that too, just accept HZD great job, now let's judge this game for everything it offers not just graphics, gameplay, music, voice acting and storyline.

The visuals in this Mass effect even on consoles shows a MASSIVE disconnect from what the frostbite 3 engine is capable of. It seems Bioware has got quite lazy with pushing effects for there new re imagining of Mass Effect.

Lots of low res textures and alpha effects present.

The lighting seems much flater then it should be.

I`ll still play it but everyone should be very disappointed in them.

Erik73572996d ago

It looks substantially better on PC.

KingKionic 2996d ago

It looks better on PC with framerate and resolution some better details on rocks.

But overall its not really a massive difference on scale of a game like Ghost Recon Wildlands vs consoles

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

It shows laziness on Biowares part. If they cant release top tier visuals next to Dice then they shouldn't be using Frostbite 3.

kevnb2995d ago (Edited 2995d ago )

I doubt its laziness, its probably just the budget being too small and development too rushed. They are owned by ea after all.

RegorL2995d ago (Edited 2995d ago )

I think Frostbite build system scales input imaginary/models to whatever target platform used, if PS4Pro could look like PC Ultra @ 4k it would.
I also get the impression that cut scenes are not pre-rendered (you are allowed to modify your appearance), think many games are... looking at most games cut scenes.

NFS, also Frostbite, went all in as it was only cars that were configurable - it rendered your custom car into live action with real actors - best human animation ever... (what is really the difference between pre-rendered and pre-filmed?)

Fishy Fingers2995d ago

So 1080p Pro looks like 1080p base...? No s***, they only supported the higher resolution so unless you have a 4K screen of course the difference will be minor.

kevnb2995d ago

I looked at the screen shots on a 1080p screen just now, its a very obvious difference.

Fishy Fingers2995d ago

It's more noticeable than the headline/article would have you believe for sure.

But I think they've put most of their Pro efforts into the 1800p rather than having a separate config for 1080p Pro owners.

Artemidorus2995d ago

No it isn't, blind fanboyism.

leoms2995d ago

Ouf, I thought there was something wrong with me thinking that.

kevnb2995d ago (Edited 2995d ago )

i notice a huge difference, but honestly those character models look bad.

For All Its Flaws, Mass Effect: Andromeda's Approach to Romance is Something ME4 Can Learn From

While Mass Effect: Andromeda was let in several key areas, one of its approaches to romances is something Mass Effect 4 should consider revisiting.

I hope Mass Effect 4 ignores the inferior prequels and instead closely follows the far superior Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age Inquisition.

anast129d ago (Edited 129d ago )

Mass Effect 4 should just make Mass Effect 1 but better with current tech. Fans would be happy. As far as romance, they should take notes from the Witcher and Cyberpunk.

Ristul128d ago

Later Bioware games have to little build up. You can have a normal conversation and all of a sudden BAM! The character you talk to becomes super flirty.

TricksterArrow128d ago

Reminds me of Baldur’s Gate. I wanted to practice some magic and Gale made it super weird. Not even gonna mention Astarion.

gold_drake128d ago (Edited 128d ago )

iii dunno about that.

the only really great and funny dating partner, is that outlaw guy anyways haha he was funny as hell.

other than that, i found every character to be very annoying.

ZeekQuattro128d ago

Shout out to Keri the Asari reporter. Current relationship status be damned as she's game either way. Anything for a good story. 🤣

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast170d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine170d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast170d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman170d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast170d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

it's like bitch but your shirt back on, your not blue or spikey get away from me

BioWare Thinks Mass Effect Andromeda Was Better Game Than Reception Suggested

BioWare thinks Mass Effect: Andromeda was a better game than what reception suggested; taught the studio not to shoehorn open-world without any meaningful content in it.

thorstein205d ago

I played it and it wasn't as bad as people said. Is it in the 8-10 range? No.

It's a 6-7, which means it's a solid game.

LordoftheCritics205d ago (Edited 205d ago )

Veilguard and Andromeda are of similar level to me.
6 to 6.5 ish

Though I think i enjoyed Andromeda's combat and sense of scale a little bit more.

XBManiac204d ago

Veilguard has better graphics.

neutralgamer1992205d ago

I agree with you It was a 6.5 type game. Gameplay was solid everything else was lacking. Playing at launch with all the issues was just absurd. EA could have let the developers keep patching and fix the game but they stopped just like they did with anthem. It’s crazy to think multi billion dollar publishers can’t afford to keeping patching their games get medium size developers can support the game for years

But when you have android wilson running the company what else can we expect.

OtterX205d ago

Except 6-7 doesn't translate as solid. 6 means a bit flimsy, but still good/enjoyable if you can look past the flaws. 7, a little less flimsy, and enjoyable. 8-10 would be "solid".

But I get your point. I skipped the game entirely, so I don't have an opinion on it.

H9205d ago

I played this game back when I wanted to give every game I bought a fair chance and finish it, it was the reason why I stopped doing so, god the game was bad

TheNamelessOne205d ago

I actually enjoyed Andromeda. It wasn't a 10/10, by any means, but I played it years after the fact, after a lot of patching, and I had a good time with it.

anast205d ago

Same, I enjoyed it too. I might even replay it soon.

TheNamelessOne205d ago

Might do the same, honestly. Went through the trilogy a couple months back.

raWfodog204d ago

I liked it as well, and also played it for the first time over a year after it was released. The original trilogy was a better story overall IMO but I still enjoyed Andromeda.

lellkay205d ago

The game is so unbelivably bad, it's laughable.

pwnmaster3000205d ago (Edited 205d ago )

It really wasn’t. Well for me nd I’m a big fan of the series.
Was it mass effect standard? No
But overall I thought it was a decent game.
6-7/10.

Armaggedon205d ago

You might want to try playing a truly bad game. Go boot up two worlds or gollum to get the perspective you need

MatrixxGT205d ago

Wow, two worlds…red ringed my 360.

Armaggedon205d ago

Lol. Its one of the only games that I have experienced buyers remorse with. The only one I can think of is riders Republic.

matt139205d ago

So delusional, the title was an embarrassment to the original trilogy. it’s the equivalent of 2042 to the battlefield franchise.

thorstein205d ago

2042 had a redemption arc and what exists now is a pretty good FPS.
