The Wii U Is Faster At Loading Shrines In Breath of the Wild Than The Switch

From the footage, it appears that the Switch is a bit faster at loading the game and starting the quest, while the Wii U is slightly faster when it comes to entering Shrines and continuing on after a death.

Wasn't the Switch supposed to have memory sticks for games instead of Discs 'cause you know, loading times and stuff??

_-EDMIX-_3024d ago (Edited 3024d ago )

Great point.

It makes me happy I'm getting the Wii U version

bouzebbal3024d ago

wiiu version is the one i have and it is unbelievably smooth.
i cannot believe wiiu could pull such a world class performance.

browngamer413023d ago

I have the Wii U version, and while it is pretty great there are framerate and texture issues all over the place that I never see on Switch vids of it- I'm seriously considering an upgrade to play this masterpiece in all of it's intended glory. I'm not talking small drops here and there, it is very noticeable compared to the Switch version- to the point of breaking immersion, I'd gladly take a 1 second longer LOADING screen rather than crippling my gameplay, that being said if Wii U is your only option then it's still a great game, just not nearly as smooth..

EddieNX 3024d ago

The Switch version loads everything else faster. So Switch wins overall in loading times.

This has to be the most pointless discussion of all time.

_-EDMIX-_3024d ago

It makes sense to me as a consumer because I'm purchasing the Wii U version and I was thinking about possibly Holding Out for this version of a later date but I'm thinking about just playing the game to completion on the Wii U and when Animal Crossing comes out or if it even comes up on this device I'll wait to purchase it then but at this point I don't see a reason for me to get a switch later this year for a game that might possibly be inferior on the device.

Sorry bud, but you can't keep applying your opinion to everyone else.

I don't own either platform and I clearly have a choice to simply just spend 47 bucks and borrow my friends Wii U.

This is kind of a big deal that this platform could possibly be running this game worse than the previous.

That is like saying The Last of Us on PlayStation 4 is running worse than the last of us on PlayStation 3.

EddieNX 3024d ago (Edited 3024d ago )

How the heck is the Switch version inferior? The wiiu version loads JUST SHRINES faster by 1 second. The other 90% of all loading times load a good few second faster on Switch. So , overall, Switch with by far in loading times. There's videos to demonstrate this.

Both have a few minor framerate issues but the Switch version in handheld mode is the smoothest it gets.
The Switch version is 900p which is significantly sharper than 720p ( games look like crap at 720p on my 50" 4k tv but 900p look fine) and the Switch version is portable , the wiiu version isn't.

So, the Switch version is blatantly the superior version. That's not to say the wiiu version isnt decent though

bouzebbal3024d ago (Edited 3024d ago )

and you the most pointless post of all time, all ages.
you can't keep yourself from posting crap everytime.. you are a switch fanboy you are trying to justify you purchase but trust me nobody really cares.

"The other 90% of all loading times load a good few second faster on Switch."
one more crap comment from you..
let me tell you one thing, wiiu version almost has NO loading time, except when you have to boot the game you press continue.
the white screen with the tips i can't make it to read it that it's gone.

EddieNX 3024d ago

Bouzebal. The game loads faster on Switch Buddy , there's videos on YouTube to prove it. Litteraly JUST SHRINES load faster on Wiiu, everything else loads faster on Switch.

I have a Wiiu as well. But its finished. I'm looking forward to Splatoon 2 , xenoblade chronicles 2, Super Mario odyssey ,fire emblem and a load more. So I've nothing to justify at all. Portable BOTW is better than a version that is 720p and home only.

Zelda on Switch is better than Wiiu version, in every way. You know that and I know that. Stop trying to make out your version is good because you can't afford a switch lol

bouzebbal3024d ago

i never said wiiu version was the best, you are having troubles with understanding which doesn't surprise me.
if someone has wiiu and want to buy switch only for zelda then there is absolutely no reason to do so.
wiiu version runs so well and had one framerate drop in the 20hours i have been playing.
now shut up and go have some brain training so you better understand what is being said.

EddieNX 3024d ago

Zelda switch>>>>> Zelda Wiiu. The end.

gamer78043024d ago

i'll wait when there is actually exclusives, zelda is essentially the same on both consoles. And i'd rather not deal with joy con syncing issues and the Switch's dock scratching its own screen. Sounds like they'll remedy that soon but for now they have pulled the dock from their site.

Goldby3024d ago

@eddie.

currently, there is better overall performance on the Wiiu and Portable mode of Switch for Zelda, Docked is another story. due to Nintendo developing it at a 1:1 for resoplution, the game is designed to be played at 720P.
When it gets upscaled to 900P for docked switch the AA is causing frame drops.

Add to fact there issues with some players controllers, for a definitive expereince, WiiU is the one to go with currently. only time and updates will tell for the Switch

Sono4213024d ago (Edited 3024d ago )

Eddie just stop, please. Playing Breath of the wild in docked mode for the switch for some reason is filled fps drops. and for some reason even when nothing much is going on. So it really doesn't surprise me that the Wii U version is faster. It is also worth pointing out that for some reason these fps dips don't happen in handheld mode, I honestly don't get it. I also don't get why Eddie defends this thing to the end. Seriously Eddie give it up, it's riddled with flaws, and I couldn't help but notice one article posted on here pointing out all of it's flaws you were oddly absent from, were there just too many facts in one place for you to deny them all at once?

MetroidFREAK213024d ago

But as long as the game loads properly, what's the problem?

Last_Boss3024d ago

That's exactly what I said.

MetroidFREAK213024d ago

Lol, I have no problem waiting for load screens. As long as the game loads properly, I'm fine... But people will disagree. Oh well 😂

MRMagoo1233024d ago

yeh but why in the hell would a cartridge ever load slower than a disc ....I mean ever ..

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3024d ago

Well obviously the Switch version has slightly better draw distance, textures and lightning to load.

Knushwood Butt3024d ago

Do shrines have a greater draw distance than the open world areas?

TheUndertaker853024d ago

Switch should not be performing functions slower than the product it is set to release. If it is what was the point of releasing Switch? To be inferior to even its last gen counterpart?

Goldby3024d ago

to be fair, the game was developed for the Wii U and ported over to the switch,

TheUndertaker853023d ago

@Goldby: That's even more reason for it NOT to be falling behind its predecessor. Otherwise that suggests, logically, at least one part of the Switch is behind the Wii U.

If the enhancements are causing the issue it shows they over did the effects added to the Switch version. If Wii U is legitimately running shrines better than Switch it shows not much care was put into the Switch version unless something in the Switch is causing the difference justifying the insinuation that something in Switch is weaker than Wii U.

There's no reason why newer, better hardware should fall behind its predecessor when it's the same game at its base.

_-EDMIX-_3024d ago

???

This is supposed to be Nintendo's next console correct? Why on Earth is it performing worse than their previous console in regards to Performance? I'm sorry but that's extremely relevant to consumers looking to purchase this game.

JayPi33024d ago

Now I kinda want the Wii U version.

nerdman673024d ago

You're telling me I paid $300 for a console that sometimes will load something one second slower?
Well that's a huge disappointment, way to go Nintendo for proving again you're terrible

Defiantmac3024d ago

The damn console is a mini tablet and plays full scale games. One game running 1 second slower when load times are already fast is a non issue.

Goldby3024d ago

no it isn't but add the frame issues in docked mode and connection issues with the controllers, yes Nintendo is proving they are terrible

Defiantmac3023d ago

The console has been out for less than a week. People seem to forget all of the other launch issues in history with other companies.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild (Switch 2)- The Best Way To Play, But Zelda Notes Sucks| NL

"

Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is undoubtedly the best way to play one of the greatest games of all time. The visual and performance enhancements remove any issues that you may have had to endure with the original game. It's practically flawless from that perspective.

Sadly, the Zelda Notes app really brings the whole thing down. Useful features that should have been implemented in-game have been relegated to your smartphone, and using it completely breaks immersion in this incredible world. I'm only thankful that it's not even remotely mandatory. Leave Zelda Notes to one side, and you've got the definitive presentation of a modern classic." - Ollie Reynolds | NintendoLife
