E3 2017 will be the time when Microsoft showcases the games coming to Project Scorpio and surely an emphasis on native 4K will be there too.

Thats what will go down im sure. I hope Microsoft says Native 4K a lot after a game is shown off or revealed. They gotta make sure the public knows this is a system to take advantage of there 4K tvs and provide the best experience.

E3 will be Lord Phils moment to say all this.

Gonna be lit.

Godmars2902608d ago

And they need to have the product that supports the hype. New titles that show off those glorious 4k graphics. Their version of Jungles or panoramic cities from Uncharted Zero Horizon. Not just slightly better versions of COD or any other multi.

KingKionic 2608d ago

Xbox first party will be there in 4K we know this

https://www.vg247.com/2016/...

Multiplat games running better in 4K than any other console is fair game.

Cod and Battlefront would be smart to court.

Battlefront 2 in native 4k O__O Even a resolution bump with xbox one graphics to 4K comparing the 720p version of battlefront would be spectacular.

Microsoft should push 4K for multipalts saying native 4K as much as possibly.

Thats easy PR right there.

Omnislashver362608d ago

Sure some titles will be native 4k, but if they really want to pack a punch wouldn't it be better for Halo 6 to be 1800p with checkerboard for the best graphics possible?

And yeah, I can totally see me buying a Scorpio if they can get a few games out that really make use of Scorpio, but as it stands all they have is Halo 6 and Crackdown 3 which isn't enough to get me to buy one.

Now if they could have done Scalebound and cleaned up MC's douche act, I'd be a little closer to buying one, but as it stands they hardly have anything but Halo/Forza/Crackdown/Gears. I'm not that interested in racers and Gears' quality dropped significantly in character design and voice acting.

I'd need to see something impressive to consider biting now.

ItMatters2608d ago

Ps4 didn't have either of those the first few years but sold so good because every multiplat looked better on ps4 than the Xbox and then everyone had one so everyone else had to have one.

bouzebbal2608d ago

How about using games and exclusives as marketing tools ???

Ju2608d ago

4K is all nice and trendy. By if the UI stays as is getting me a XB1 did not convince me to trade up. Pro games are fine, I have no performance complaints. And the one hand full of exclusives aren't worth it. And then, what will it cost? Anybody wants my 1s?

JasonKCK2607d ago

bouzebbal that odd considering Sony marketed the power of the PS4 for the first half of this gen.

Not when 4k isn't a general commercial format. Likewise, MS saying they're going to support 4k with their first party studios, what 2nd party studios they can get a hold of, doesn't mean much when MS's ability to even deliver games has become so questionable. Fable Legends and Scalebound got canceled despite major hype, and the continuations of the Gears and Halo franchises are arguably lackluster. Now everything seems to hinge on Cuphead and Sea of Thieves, but I don't expect 4k is going to do much for a sidescrolling shooter meant to emulate 1930 cartoon much less an online coop title.

The is more to the "best experience" than bleeding edge graphics. I didn't bring up UC or ZH just because they look pretty, but because they have memorable gaming, interactive, moments - that look pretty. And you don't get that from hired coders who are becoming familiar with new game engines while being under production mandates.

freshslicepizza2608d ago

state of decay 2 in 4k, forza 7 in 4k and 60fps, sea of thieves in 4k, crackdown 3 in 4k, plus third party titles probably like mass effect andronema and with hdr. then you will have a bunch of other games get a 4k bump like forza horizon 3 and halo 5.

the thing is unlike the ps4 pro there will be content ready to display that shows the power of scorpio, not just a few games like we saw at that launch. sony is also pushing 4k (albeit with checkerboard) and that too will help 4k be more in peoples minds. plus netflix. in fact you go into any major electronics retailer like best buy and they too are pushing 4k tv's.

KingKionic 2608d ago (Edited 2608d ago )

Delivering games? Canceled projects?

What does this have to do with Microsoft confirming multiple times that they will have native 4K games on launch for scorpio from First party?

Did you just say you dont expect much 4K accept side scrolling shooter in cuphead? LOL come on whats with theres hysterics?

Its ridiculous to have such a low point of view of this.

Phil spencer even said it :

"360 games are tough as most don't have 4K assets. Nice thing about our recent games is we have 4K assets from PC versions."

https://twitter.com/XboxP3/...

This is a pretty positive statement for 4K content.

Just for people lost Recore,Gears of War 4, and Forza Horizon 3 went through the UWP so Phil spencer gave a example as the PC counterpart 4K assets will be on scorpio.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/g...

Heres the list of play anywhere titles for those interested.

LexHazard792608d ago (Edited 2608d ago )

Dude Sony pushed 4K too...relax.

Scorpio is gonna have more native 4K games than PS4 Pro. Thats not sitting well with a certain crowd.

Godmars2902608d ago

@LexHazard79:
Not a fan of the graphic chasing console/gaming gens, so what I said goes double for the PS4 Pro.

If a big budgeted, high profile title looks as good as it plays, fine. Its the dozens of niche titles forced to play catch up, when not going away altogether, becoming FP when they weren't in the genre, that gets me.

Pity this has to be repeated because its never taken in, but MS needs to deliver on promise and hype. These forum arguments don't mean anything like your links since they are only more promises and comments which MS hasn't made good on, and consistently underdelivered on in the past.

freshslicepizza2608d ago

well if they put out their own games and they are not native 4k then you can call them on it, otherwise you are going off topic like usual.

DigitalRaptor2608d ago (Edited 2608d ago )

"you are going off topic like usual."

Looks like moldybread is projecting again. So hypocritical, and that is not how you win an argument. Sony didn't make any promises akin to this for PS4 Pro, but you still found a way to enter articles trolling on it, trying to discredit its purpose and holding them accountable for something that they never were accountable for. Yet, you're still in here preparing a defense case for Microsoft for when Scorpio launches. Man, oh man.

KwietStorm_BLM2608d ago

4K 4K 4K isn't going to sell any platform. It just isn't. They need to make the games the key marketing tool. Unless of course the feature set is their main focus..

SonyWarrior2608d ago

they will go on and on about native 4k but not a soul will be able to see a difference between that and ps4 pro

medman2608d ago

@kionicwarlord222
Here's a simple math equation for you......

(4k) x (no games) = (-4k)

Z5012607d ago (Edited 2607d ago )

One of MS's biggest issues is. You have to wait til E3 every year for 'hope'.

mark3214uk2607d ago

as sorpio will not play all games at native 4k MS will not say native 4k after they show games in native because the typical ms pr spin will be to just show the 4k logo and then make everyone think al lthere games are native 4k when they are not

How will Sony adjust to PS4 Pro not being the most powerful console anymore? Simple they can just say the best selling console, and best generation of games. No matter what PS4 user base is bigger than Xbox. It is the games that matters, not just a new paint job. Xbox One mostly have games that are already on PC, plus most of their games are not story driven, but multiplayer focus with little story. Gears 4 and Halo 5 had horrible storylines and they didn't make a dent in sells for PS4 at all. 4k 60fps would be great for a console, but the PC version of play anywhere games will be 10 times better with 4K 144fps monitors coming this year. Gears 4 on PC already trumps Gears 4 on Xbox One in frames and graphics.

Chris122608d ago

Wonderful, but there are two things you have to understand.

1) A lot of us are not interested in PC gaming at all. A simple console under the TV is what we want without the hassle of a PC.

2) MS are a software company and make the vast majority of their cash on software. If you're buying MS games on PC then good for you, MS still wins. Why do you think they are going UWP?

aconnellan2608d ago

This is pretty much the gist of it - there are plenty of people who own both a console and PC, and for them the PS4 is the best choice of console so they can access pretty much most exclusives across the board.

But there are also plenty of people who simply don't want to game on PC (whether it's because they don't care for building one, they have limited budget, or they just plain prefer a console experience), and for them it just comes down to personal preference between the PS4 and Xbox One

rainslacker2607d ago (Edited 2607d ago )

Is Sony pushing the most powerful angle? Sure, right now, it's the most powerful console on the market. But so far, I haven't seen Sony saying much about that. Maybe the occassional quote or two, and certainly nowhere near the way MS is saying how Scorpio will be the most powerful.

Sony, by all accounts, is already showing(not saying) that they have the games to keep one fulfilled. They don't have to change what they're doing at all.

@Chris

I'd imagine most gamers don't really care who wins a sale. I think they care that their needs for gaming are being fulfilled. The who won argument is just for forum boasting.

native 4k at 30fps (hopefully locked) and alpha effects reduced, possibly inferior shadows too. there will be compromise!

TheCommentator2608d ago (Edited 2608d ago )

You'll eat those words come June 11th. MS has contradicted the notion of compromise already.

Former Blizzard President Suggests Players Should Have Option to Tip Developers

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra recently suggested an interesting concept that has sparked a debate among gamers - the idea of being able to tip developers after completing a game.

LG_Fox_Brazil4d ago

If I had a 100% way to be sure that this money would go to a fund or a reserve dedicated only to the guys who develop the games, be them designers, artists, programmers and so on, I could think about it.

But we all know that this 'tip' would only end up in a publisher's CEO pocket to buy a new yacht, so, no, I ain't tipping anyone anytime soon on this industry

neutralgamer19923d ago

Exactly these companies were raising money for good causes and gamers were donation and come to find out they are keeping a good chunk of be pie

PapaBop3d ago

Yeah tip your developer, 5% proceeds go to developer, 95% to the publisher or whoever. Isn't tipping for staff not making minimum wage? How about they just pay their developers properly and like you know, give them fair bonuses? Too much to ask from Blizzard these days, Kotick saw to that and is now laughing all the way to the bank.

MrDead3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

It's the t**ts at the top looking at ways to cut devs wages and get the players to tip them like waiting staff, and I'll guarantee a percentage is skimmed and kept by Activision Blizzard. This is 100% for shareholder and CEO playouts.

Popsicle3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

I have to agree with this. On the surface tipping devs sounds like a great idea, but in the end it leads to pay cuts and subsidization of pay. Tips then become an expectation or the devs “can’t make a living.” Lastly, especially in the US, tip culture has gotten out of control, and it serves as an excuse not to properly pay employees. Sounds good but doesn’t end well.

drizzom2d ago

@ Popsicle

I think your right on the nose with how much tipping has become rampant. Instead of it being a relationship directly between the customer and the developer or employee, it now has a middle man ingrained in the system. DoorDash is one example. It ends up becoming a metric where the company can measure 'just how much more money you are willing to part with' before raising the price on the main product.

1Victor3d ago

Uh so they’re trying triple dip or more we buy the game that they’re already withholding/cutting content for dlc we was told that season pass would help the developers thrive we felt for it.
Now on top of all that plus their sales bonus they want tips enough is enough whatever happens to you create/built a good game get a bonus for sales milestones you care about your game and community we reward you with more sales not for doing 3/4 of a game then save the other 1/4 for dlc and passes after

raWfodog3d ago

The 'tip' is me buying your game in the first place.

S2Killinit3d ago

Very well said. If it was possible to send the money to either the developer or some organization for the betterment of gaming, sure. But we all know that will not be the case.

Rynxie3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

No, it would go to those on the top. They will still fire developers, have a bunch of microtransactions, raise prices of games and so on.

H94d ago

So they eventually don't pay their workers and depend on our tips to pay them like the case with waiters!

Deeeeznuuuts3d ago

That kind of practice is only normal in the states, as far as I know anyway, what a backwards system

H93d ago

No it's as well in a every country that wants to amercanize

bloop3d ago

Ireland is literally the first stop across the pond and we don't have a tipping culture. The only establishments here that would expect a tip are the tourist haunts that Americans visit. Other than that, you might tip in a restaurant as a sign of gratitude for great service and waiting staff would be paid a full wage anyway.

Rebel_Scum3d ago

Tipping is not customary iin most countries dude. Get a passport lol.

Jin_Sakai4d ago

Is this a joke? How about the big wigs giving up some of their pay for their hard working developers.

MrBaskerville3d ago

Maybe the CEO could earn his money based on tips.

mastershredder4d ago

good god. The devs are not baristas dude. Total 1% ideals. Fing Chadosaurus.

The Reason Sega Lost The 32-Bit War? The 32X, Says Yosuke Okunari

"The company was unable to focus enough on its main hope"

timeextension.com
ApocalypseShadow8d ago

Nope. Going back to the 32X as the reason Sega lost that generation doesn't go back far enough before the Saturn.

Sega executives need to blame themselves as to why Sega lost that generation. Not Saturn. Not 32X. Not Sega CD. Nope. Executives were the reason why. It wasn't the hardware. Those devices were either dropped early or released to soon resulting in a developer backlash the hurt the game catalog. They really shouldn't have been made at all because they should have planned their next move more carefully. It has nothing to do with the devices. Poor leadership decisions and lack of unity within the company are what happened.

Love how blame is always shifted away from what is the truth. Writing a book placing the blame on the 32X isn't the truth.

solideagle7d ago

I am pretty sure there are documentaries (Youtube) around it which highlights these points. I had Sega Mega drive and NES growing up but that's about it. I didn't even know there was a war going on between these companies but I do remember thinking why I can't play Sonic cartridge on Nintendo or Mario on Sega :D

FinalFantasyFanatic7d ago

I had the Genesis and the Saturn, also had the SNES and 64, I never got a Dreamcast for some reason, but I never saw one in the stores either.
