FGE – “Bad teachers” isn’t exactly a new concept as far as cinema goes, and it certainly isn’t a new premise for a comedy. Even still, Fist Fight piqued my interest if only because much of the promo material in the lead-up was so incredibly uninformative beyond its core premise, which to its credit, is a decent core comedy premise: I mean, who doesn’t want to see Ice Cube beat up Charlie Day? So, with all that, I decided to venture slightly out of my comfort zone and give Fist Fight a go. You know, say what you will about Fist Fight’s comedy sensibilities (and I will, believe me), but I was surprised at how robust everything concerning Fist Fight’s central narrative arc actually is.
