It's not back in Stock everyone, don't even bother clicking. It's Scalpers selling it at an absurd price... Man, these a-hole news sites piss me off with this misinformation.

They rush out to be first and hardly checking out their story lol.

Reports indicate that Nintendo has ceased production as well. If you don't have one, your not getting one without paying crazy prices

GamingIVfun3039d ago

The Nintendo Classic Edition is still in production, those story's have been proven false. Stories trying to convince people to buy from scalpers at extremely high prices.

XbladeTeddy3040d ago (Edited 3040d ago )

Why are people going crazy over these? They will play it for a good few hours, realise nostalgia isn't all that great, then leave it on a shelf doing nothing.

Any gamer who has a love of past games would have purchased one of the many machines that let you play almost every old game ever made.

FunkyGoron3040d ago

That's what I did... great decision

CrimsonWing693040d ago

I can only speak for myself but it's like collecting any other type of memorabilia. It's an official Nintendo product and I felt like it'd be a cool edition to my man cave. A bit of nostalgia and I liked that it's a mini NES and it'd be cool to collect them all if they did a SNES and N64 one.

But really it's just owning an official Nintendo product and now that it's rare at this point.

FunkyGoron3040d ago

Too late... I bought a RetroPie and it's one of the best decisions I made. Works flawlessly and now I can play all the old games I want. Sorry Nintendo, but when a RetroPie was $100 less than what I wanted (which was your mini NES) I have to jump on it.

Recommend it to anyone who loves gaming early 80s thru 90s

deafdani3040d ago

I'm very interested in the Retro Pie, so I hope you answer my question.

Does it upscale NES games to HD properly?

Meaning, does it look pixel-sharp on HDTV's, no fuzzy pixel-blurring?

FunkyGoron3040d ago

@deaf

Honestly, I would say it does upscale HD properly. I mean, they look like old games and mine is on a 60inch TV (it looks prettier on my smaller 42inch) so sometimes I mess with the aspect ratio to make it look better. However, I am not versed in the tech or how it works other than my personal use of it.

BUT - I have (had) a SNES hooked up to the same TV and played Super Mario World on SNES and then loaded it up on the Pi and I 100% liked the way the Pi looked. So much so that I am selling my SNES to purchase an N64. Is this "pixel perfect HD?"... I can't be sure, but it is HDMI and the guy off Ebay I got it from was very helpful with how it works and how to add controllers etc. It was sold to me as being HD upscaled emulation and to this day I have had no reason to doubt that claim, even though I am not versed enough to "know" for sure.

Sorry for length

rataranian3040d ago

You mean a Raspberry Pi? Retropie is just a front end soft ware.

FunkyGoron3040d ago

You are correct, it is a Raspberry Pi, hardware wise. Sorry, I bought the device and it was labeled a RetroPi and when it boots up that's what displays.

deafdani3040d ago

Thanks! We don't need to be really versed to say if it upscales or not. It's really easy. Just look at this image:

https://i.kinja-img.com/gaw...

When you see a Mario sprite on your HDTV with your Raspberry Pi, how does it look? Like the Mario on the sides, or the center one?

FunkyGoron3040d ago

It 100% DOES NOT look like the center one LOL. It looks like the left one on my bigger TV and looks like the right one on my smaller TV (60 v 42). But again, I play smaller aspect ratio on my bigger TV.

I got it off ebay and the dude seems to always have a couple of options for sale, good ratings.

deafdani3039d ago

Do give me the link to that dude's eBay profile, then! And thanks again. :D

If you need a spare controller for your NES Classic, Amazon has them for $10

Let’s face it, the fact the NES Classic only comes with one controller is extremely lame. And ordering an extra controller hasn’t been that easy since most of them sell out so quick leaving most of the inventory out of stock.
