According to my friends who have been playing for the last 12 years say it is a lot worse now and is more casual than it used to be. There is still a huge chunk of the community that prefers old WoW and that's why Nostalrius got so much support from the community.
Of course there are some parts which were better. But overall, it's definitely not. It's just nostalgia talking.
I played for six years. Vanilla was great but I have loved how the game evolved over the years and adapted to newer systems in order for the game to stay fresh. I totally agree with others that it's only nostalgia talking.
Lol WOW is much better today.
