With Japan losing ground to America's developers and audiences in the video game industry, 1up recently conducted a series of interviews with several Japanese creators in order to gather their opinions on what has happened, and what they can do to take back what they had lost.
Among those interviewed was Capcom's own head of R&D, Keiji Inafune, who is best known as being the father of Mega Man, and who has spearheaded the company's initiative into making games skewed more toward a Western audience, such as Dead Rising and Lost Planet, as well as finding external developers for fare such as Bionic Commando. Hey Survivors! Tymon here, your favorite Dying Light Franchise Director.
It's been an absolutely wild month here at Techland! We're in the thick of what I'm calling the "Summer of Dying Light," delivering updates and big news across all three Dying Light games. Just a few weeks ago, we dropped the first gameplay for Dying Light: The Beast, revealed its release date, and kicked off pre-orders (if you haven't seen it, check out my last dev blog). I'm incredibly proud of what we're building with The Beast - it’s the culmination of more than 10 years of experience in open-world survival horror!
But here's the thing: we never forget where we came from. That's why, this week, we're not just looking forward - we're rolling out significant updates for both the original Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human. We promised to support our games for a long time, and we're committed to continuing that support, right through and beyond the launch of Dying Light: The Beast.
Two Point Museum is getting its first DLC next month, with curators gaining over forty more exhibits to display and many new items to decorate with.
Lara Croft and co bring two new exciting tables to Pinball FX in the form of Tomb Raider Pinball, although one in particular is a standout, providing some of the best licensed pinball so far.
I was thinking of buying the real table (or the unveils and Dragons table) for my game room. These games are fun but can’t replace the real thing
"On the other hand, Japan mostly has developers controlled by publishers. The developers' aspirations and innovations first have to be evaluated by the publishers. Unless the publishers accept the developers' ideas, they'll never have access to the players. In the U.S., there are free competitions between developers."
LMFAO LMFAO
with EA/Activision/Ubisoft etc buying up and dismantling studios.. buying franchise licenses
this guy sounds like an idiot who has no idea of whats going on.. sooooo american developers have an edge because they are doing what makes japanese developers suck?

Kenji is the man!!! One of my favorite developers and he tells it like it is.
Now get to work on that Dead Rising sequel!!
... I believe that it is more of a motivational stance than anything else. I seriously doubt that they feel that they are inferior in any way.
