Brandon Salcedo writes:

"Across a fantasy skyscape of Miyazaki-esque contraptions and story-book anime, Sky Gunner carves its own little niche into the flight shooter genre. Every chapter floods the screen with machine gun fire, whizzing past imaginative flight machines of every size, zooming in and out in formation. Cannons fire from surrounding airships in every direction as the horizon dots with the tiny parachutes of the less fortunate, spouting their adorable verbal comebacks. If it sounds exhilarating, it’s because it is… most of the time.

Sky Gunner is a series of action-packed air skirmishes set within and around the fictional city of Rive. The infamous treasure thief, Ventre, has set his sights on the Eternal Engine, a device that promises limitless energy, and the gala unveiling is the sort of scene he just loves to crash. As the Rive police chief and a newly hired female cadet keep watch inside the museum, two famous sky gunners secure the outside, ready for action at a moment’s notice. When Ventre makes his grand entrance, with a myriad of pygmy soldiers and his impressive armada of clockwork warships, the scene turns to magnificent chaos. The Chief sends Femme to the air to meet up with the Sky Gunner duo of Copain and Ciel. A friendship, alliance and competitive spirit ensues between the three as they aim to take down Ventre and retrieve the engine."
