Calculating Nintendo Switch pre-order sales

"At this point, Nintendo Switch pre-orders are sold out virtually everywhere, both in retail stores and online. But, will these pre-order indicators translate to actual sales success? Unfortunately, we don’t really know what early pre-order signs mean for a console. After all, Wii U pre-orders sold out nearly immediately and the console was sold out everywhere for a few weeks after its launch. What can we glean from early Nintendo Switch pre-order information?" - Nintendo Enthusiast.

Since Wii U also sold out at launch, I gleam that you can't take much from Switch doing so especially when Nintendo is shipping less NS units at launch than they did Wii U

Moonman3062d ago

This feels totally different. It's not just sold out. It's in HIGH demand.

DillyDilly3062d ago

The question is will they post the numbers unlike Sony will do with VR ?

XabiDaChosenOne3062d ago

Explain how it "feels" different?

Scatpants3062d ago

Thats what they want you to think. For all you know they could have only allocated 100 units to each store making it sell out instantly and appear like everyone wants one but no one can find one. I didn't preorder right away so now I can't order one, I'm debating if I'm going to get one at all now since Nintendo usually only has a few good releases a year and there launch lineup is super weak other than Zelda. I'll probably grab one at black friday in some kind of bundle I guess. It's almost like they are trying to get me to NOT buy one though.

MRMagoo1233061d ago

I havent seen even one person talking about the switch or even pre-ordering it yet in my local eb games and jbhifi so it seems to me there is less interest in the switch than even the wiiu

Switch still can't sell more units at launch than Wii U

Vegamyster3062d ago

The Wii-U was sold in mid November while the Switch is being sold at the start of March, different scenarios.

jaymacx3062d ago (Edited 3062d ago )

That doesn't matter. What truly matters is what the lifetime sales will be. At this point Switch seems to be more popular than Wii U. However I won't make any predictions.

I remember the Wii U launch and it was very modest at best. You could easily get a console at launch. People were confused at what it even was.

FallenAngel19843062d ago

I mean Switch physically cannot sell more than Wii U during its launch because Nintendo is shipping less units

JustInTlME3062d ago

How many Wii-U's were shipped?

Moonman3062d ago

Wii U sold 400,000 week one in North America. The Wii sold 600,000 week one in North America. Both at the holiday. If Switch sells 500,000 week one during March then that would be huge as it is not the holiday and it outsold Wii U and almost sold as much as Wii. That is my estimate.

idk. i remember walking into my local gamestop by my school and there was plentiful WiiU units. Or maybe Ninty understocked

indysurfn3061d ago (Edited 3061d ago )

Last time I check JAPAN, UK, have sold more SWITCH pre orders than they did PS4 pre orders!
No wonder people say Sony and Nintendo for me, and some times they say Nintendo and Microsoft.

@FallenAngel1984 now I know why you like that name your a liar and a slanderer. You like twisting things and saying something you can possibly know do you? How do you know they are shipping less? Why would they? They have all the numbers and can see all the votes for there system. Common sense would tell you they are shipping MORE than Wii U. Just plain old common sense but here you are trying to act like you know they are shipping less! HATER

Seriously, man... informing yourself properly in order to not embarrass yourself is damn easy. Next time do that instead of automatically jumping into rabid fanboy mode.

Why the hell was GreenGangstaAAAA's comment marked as spam? He was making a fair point.

Neonridr3062d ago

because it spoke positive about Nintendo. No room for that crap around N4G I guess :P

It's a good thing that it's sold out. Would look a lot worse for Nintendo if there were still plenty of preorders. It means it isn't off to a bad start at least.

Neonridr3062d ago

@Shin - lol, fair enough. Thanks for the response. Yes his spamming lists are ridiculous.

Mistry3062d ago

Because he spams constantly on other articles so now people rather just flag him for spam even if he comments normally.

kneon3062d ago

I report his whole account as a spam account every time he starts with that crap. And I finally made the list! It's probably because I call him names every time he starts another round of idiocy.

Vegamyster3062d ago

He's made like 50 accounts spamming stuff, not surprised.

Eulderink3062d ago

Cause it was told by nintendo, in december, that they had limited supply of switches. So this comment is prolly seen as a troll comment.

Make sense because http://n4g.com/news/1278863... or any other limited supply statement.

PS5/Pro/Switch 2 version of RDR2 seems most likely. I’d love a RDR3 but that seems years away

Profchaos43m ago(Edited 42m ago)

Their contracts are iron clas if they leak anything legit they are threatened with immense legal action.

My hopes for what this is are minimal its probably a meet and greet with the cast

I dont see why they would be involved in a upgraded version of rdr2 when the dialogue hasn't changed

1f y0u're a gh0st ca11 me here! review - ChristCenteredGamer

CCG writes - "Overall, this isn't a game I really enjoyed, though I did find the mix of visual novel and memory match gameplay interesting. It's technically sound aside from some UI issues. Morally, it has mild language concerns and mentions of the undead are frequent. If you like memory match games and don't mind it being mated to a visual novel, then this title is worth checking out."
