For Nintendo, the Nintendo Switch will be a success when players will be seen playing on the go at various places and with different styles.
Sony’s PS5 era has generated over $13 billion in profits, surpassing the combined earnings of PS1–PS4, with $136 billion in sales.
Their recent Playstation revenue is also more than Xbox and Switch combined, obviously in large part due to 3rd party sales.
And this is why the game output for ps5 has been a tad slower…
1) they needed to be… games take longer to develop, and they’d burn out their teams trying to maintain the same pace as ps3.
2) they can afford to… games cost more than ever to push boundaries, so Sony had to figure out a way to match Xbox’s clever profit strategies in order to afford to continue to innovate and take risks.
The tour is coming to the states as new dates have been revealed.
Marathon was slated to launch on Sept. 23, 2025 across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, but Bungie will share the new release date in the fall.
Yeah, you can delay it as much as you want but you ain’t gonna wash that stink off.
Delaying the inevitable. Bungie hoping the negative publicity will blow over. 🙄
If they were absolutely certain about the quality of Marathon, then they had not delayed it just now.
So they've basically just confirmed what everyone, well, a lot of people saw: Marathon is not ready yet, still no soul to be seen.
success? it aint even out yet...more like potential if they do a 360 (not xbox) on all the bs involved
Nintendo, It's called "ONLINE".
Edit: I want to congratulate Nintendo for the recent discovery of the "INTERNET".
This sounds like the type of thing I've heard with other consoles. It doesn't seem to me like those worked out very well. What different styles? I don't see this idea taking off like Nintendo thinks it will. Could be wrong though. We'll soon find out
So, sales aside, they will consider it a success as long as people are seen playing it? That's sort of how I understand the quote.
The Switch could be the start of a new brand platform then (like the DS was) or a refocusing for the company perhaps--the switch could help get their name back out there like the Wii did but Wii U basically failed to do (not sales wise exactly or as a fad but sort of like how Pokemon Go had a lot of people talking about it even if they didn't care for Pokémon--a form of consumer based advertisIng).
I think it's a cool bit of tech but limited somewhat by different technologies and price (what really keeps it from One/PS4 level in its form factor today). I'll probably buy one someday (although i said the same for Wii U...).
If it's a totally new platform they want to focus on over several iterations though (like the DS), a Switch 2 could be awesome a few years down the line and today's is a nice start. I hope they don't give up on the idea (hybrid) since eventually the other big companies will be pushing that 4K/60 next gen onwards and a cheaper 1080/30-60 Hybrid with the same third party support and exclusives (Nintendo and third party) would make it a sweet deal and easier for masses to sign on with.
