Who is Brent and why we should care?

tazmeah2809d ago

He's the author of the article and nobody said you should care. It appears N4G allows gaming websites to submit opinion pieces and Brent took advantage of that. Hope that answers your question. :)

Lynx02072808d ago

Yes, thank you. I wasn't sure if he is a common nobody-want-to-be-writer or some gaming celebrity. So I will not care.

tazmeah2808d ago

@Lynx0207

Gaming celebrity? LOL! Oh heavens no, not even remotely close! His level of prominence among gamers is very low as of right now, similar to your standing here on N4G, though I'd rate him slightly higher than just "a fart in the wind".

smolinsk2809d ago

For sure Ghost recon wildlands is also my most anticipated game along with Red dead 2. Horizon looks boring and all the videos is showing the same running around shooting robots and nothing else

TheDude792809d ago

Ghost Recon has so much potential and will no doubt take up a bulk of my time this spring, despite all the other big titles launching in that window. I love Tom Clancy games and the open-world elements of Wildlands that offer multiple ways to tackle your objectives.

The Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster Proves You Don't Need A PS5 Pro

Why do you need a better PS5 when there aren’t any games that will utilise its power?

You technically don't "need" the ps5, ps4 or the ps3, lol. You don't need any videogame console, it isn't a necessity of life. If you want the best playstation console money can by, that would be the ps5 pro.

CS72d ago

While the article is pessimistic and negative, can we agree that typically playstation hardware allowed experiences that no previous generation was able to deliver?

With the PS5 and Pro that's changed and its because its first party are having trouble making exclusives that harnesses the PS5 power. And with so few using the base PS5 to the max, the Pro just seems pointless in a way that no other major Playstation ever has.

Idk, you guys keep defending Sony, first it was covid, then chip shortages, then live service won't hold back single player games. Now here we are with barely any good first party games in sight and the defense continues.

Sony needs to get their head out of their arrogant rear and get back in touch with what gamers want. And it's not live service games and it's not a $700 PS5 pro to see more detailed bleachers in Ratchet and Clank.

And just to rest my case, when you are showing your most powerful system (PS5 Pro) using a last generation game (TLOU2) something is very very wrong.

smashman982d ago

I don't think you quite got it. This isn't the ps3 gen where the cell was difficult to use and there was a period of time where the console just was not being properly utilized. These consoles are on x86 architecture and are performing at or around the level of comparable PC's. Sure there's SSD stuff more 3rd party devs could do but this isn't going to result in a big graphical leap.

_SilverHawk_2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Drinking water proves you don't need a ps5 pro. Get a brita water filter

rippermcrip2d ago

They could make games that PS4 couldn't handle. They've chosen not to. They did not want to abandon the huge existing PS4 console base. It is a shift in strategy from the past.

DustMan2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

"when you are showing your most powerful system (PS5 Pro) using a last generation game (TLOU2) something is very very wrong."

This 100%. Doesn't exactly build confidence in the performance of a machine that can't even be advertised as playing something new. Just older...but better lol.

Why does a random remaster do that? There's going to be plenty of games that utilise it over the next 4 years. And plenty already released that will benefit from it. If you don't want one fine, but what's with all the nonsense bashing of it

jambola3d ago

it's like saying "upcoming indie game on steam proves high spec pc's are useless"

Grilla2d ago

Gotta get those clicks. Later they’ll write a “I was wrong..” for more

Chocoburger2d ago

They'll never admit that they were wrong.

TheEroica2d ago

Sony has been milking their fans with unnecessary remastered/remakes all generation. They bet their first party budgets on GaaS games and failed so to save themselves they're gonna milk their base with more of these....

ClutchManeuvers3d ago

Uhhh. I was going to write something but it's so tedious knowing that everybody will just rip me.

TheEroica2d ago

Who cares what internet people think of your thoughts... You think they're opinion is more righteous? Please.

monkey6022d ago

I couldnt tell you how many times in the last number of months I've started writing a comment or reply here, only to hit the X to clear it and move on. There's no engagement or discussion to be had here. Just petty arguments.

Einhander19723d ago

There are over 8500 games that use dynamic resolution scaling and struggle to hold fps that out of the box will utilize its power.

Games are already lined up for patches and more games that haven't been announced yet will use it.

But of course talking about what it actually does won't get as many clicks.

Obscure_Observer2d ago

"But of course talking about what it actually does won't get as many clicks."

That´s because nobody knows what it "actually does" in real world yet.

DustMan2d ago

We were told that we get better bleacher resolution in Ratchet and Clank, and that The Last of Us 2 Remaster look really, really, good now. This is from the reveal...the absolute weakest reveal ever.

jambola3d ago

no
it adds to your opinion
it's doesn't prove anything

and even besides that, one game wouldn't prove that anyway
that's silly

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) Optimized Settings for PC: 2024

Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar Games’ latest heavyweight, with nearly 40K concurrent players even five years after the (staggered) PC launch. Despite that, it can be a challenge to run the game on midrange and low-end PCs. RDR2 has gotten NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 2 support following poor reception from Steam gamers.

"Use the Windows “High Performance” power profile and set your GPU power management mode to the same."
Not if you use AMD Ryzen CPU's. That needs to be set to balanced. "Overclock your GPU if you’re narrowly missing the 60 FPS mark." Actually it would be better to undervolt and increase the clock speed and see how stable it is in game.

I bought GTA5 but never really got into it. I just get bored of GTA somehow after a few hours.

RDR2 on the other hand is the best game I have ever played.. so mesmerizing from beginning to that platinum trophy pop and beyond.. a glorious masterpiece that redefined open world after GTA5.

andy8546d ago

Reverse for me, red dead undoubtedly pretty and attention to detail second to none but I haven't felt the need to play it more than once. At times it was a bit slow. Where as I've platinumed GTA 5 3 times.

P_Bomb47d ago

I still see ppl on my friendlist playing them. GTAVI is gonna sell something fierce.

shinoff218347d ago

I think it'll set records. I think there's gonna be major hype. Mayne they can do a midnight release in my area. Last one I remember was gta 5 back on ps3,valentines day night.

Ninver46d ago

It'll be funny if GTA6 sell less than 5

Sciurus_vulgaris47d ago

GTA V had a budget of 265 million, while RDR 2’s budget was between 370-500 million. Rockstar Games is one of the few studios that can invest so extensively in projects without fearing a lack of return.

GamerRN47d ago

There is always a fear. I don't believe Take Two tests on the laurels of their last game. They seem like they keep progressing forward.

anast47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

GTAV was between some numbers too. I could say GTAV was between 100mil and 1billion... Read Dead numbers range from 130 mil. to 600 mil. this isn't a statement that will get anywhere. The estimated development budget for RDR2 was reported to be around 200 mil. That 265 number is for developing and publishing. The price of marketing has skyrocketed. That 265 million is 427 million today.

vTuro2447d ago

I guess I'm in the minority, but I bought GTA5 on launch day (ps3) and to this day have yet to beat it. The game just kinda bored me. A lot of time has passed though, I wonder how much my opinion would change if I played it now. I'll give it another go, one day...

Pyrofire9546d ago

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've probably only played through half the story.
