MS better have an amazing E3, or no Scorpio for me.

aconnellan3071d ago

Agreed. Previously I was pretty keen based on a spec upgrade alone, but the last couple of months (even the last couple of weeks) have rocked the boat a bit for MS, so E3 will play a huge role in swaying those who are on the fence about Scorpio.

They really need to kill it, nothing less will cut it

GtR35olution3071d ago

When will people realize that all this talk is 4ckery. Xbox one has been on the market for over four years now and its been one pipe dream after another with nothing to show for it. I remember xbox pr saying xbox one will be 10 times more powerful with the power of the cloud but after years of talk we havent seen anything. I remember e3 a couple years ago where crackdown was supposedly going to show the power but that game has had delay after delay. Xbox pr team needs to stop the lies. The playstation team isnt trying to sell any pipe dreams but game consoles and games

CP_Company3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

i can't understand, why people even considering to buy scorpio? just to show off? or what? i think, most important are games.what can they offer from games? almost nothing! it is not like scorpio going to cost 99$ or 199$,it is going to be at least 499$.a lot of people laugh from Sony because they don't put 4k drive into Pro or Slim, and look at it now? whos laughing now? no one is speaking about that,no one.now,a lot of people speaking about killer line-up games.console sales are huge because software is amazing and versatile.what will have scorpio? few games? that is it?
p.s. when MS was amazing in E3? :)

morganfell3071d ago

@aconnellan,

Just curious and I mean that but could you define "kill it"? Do the games have to launch this year for "kill it" or will you be satisfied with games that are shown that are not given a launch date along with enhancements for current and past titles?

TheCommentator3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

CP, some people just want the best tech period and may have bought the Pro for the same reason already. Others may not have an XB1 yet, and want to make sure what they buy will last as long as possible before becoming obsolete. Maybe they're interested in no compromise native 4K, 2nd gen VR experiences like the headsets debuted at CES, UHD BluRay, and BC/FC. Maybe it's just their preference to buy MS products. With assumption cast aside for a moment, the only real answer is that it's a consumers choice to decide.

OT: I want to say that I can respect your strongly worded opinion without defamating your character. You don't have to like MS or its' products and your perspective is valid. I don't have to like Sony or its' products just the same. Of course, now that I've played Devil's advocate and answered your question, I'm sure It'll be me who gets called out... yet again(SIGH)... for having an opinion that differs from that of a Sony fan. So be it, let the personal attacks commence, because I will continue to voice my opinions just the same as you were allowed to voice yours.

RosweeSon3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Selling my Xbox one s once I've finished the exclusives so yeah Scorpio got a waaay to go to get me on board Games first and foremost if i wanted a tech'd out PC I'd get... a tech'd out PC I want a games console.
Preferably with some games... from this gen.
that's not a dig at BC but I got a 360 still I can just use that more to the point I'm not buying most powerful console in the world to play BC games and watch Netflix. Pass.

Cloud Tech doesn't really matter anymore with PS PRO out and HDR on all ps4's!

aconnellan3071d ago

Would you mind explaining why not?

Obscure_Observer3071d ago

Well, people call out Phil a liar by using the Scorpio to ditch the Cloud for the Xbox One. E3 is goin to be interesting indeed. :)

BizarroUltraman3071d ago

I believe HDR made its debut on Xbox One S. Youre right, all old PS4 has HDR yet cant output any 4K content to reallly take full advantage of HDR.

Whats funny when you look up HDR games on PS4 on yt. 99% are all PS4 Pro vids. Where are the vanillas showing off that color gamut...lol

Liqu1d3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

What have they got to do with the cloud?

Aries833071d ago

It's not even true HDR on vanilla PS4 models. Look it up if you want to be honest with yourself.

TheCommentator3071d ago

Do you mind explaining how 20 XB1's worth of compute power from the cloud (25tf+) doesn't matter when compared to a 4.2tf system? Did you know that the cloud will also enhance the 6tf Scorpio as well?

aconnellan3071d ago

I wholeheartedly agree that they need to start showing it sooner rather than later, but the article was written about a reply to a Tweet:

"Please Phil, we need more news about Crackdown 3 or new gameplay. 2017 is looking kinda dry for Xbox One tbh"

His reply was "Just played Crackdown3 w/ @shannonloftis Best CD exp I've had. Agent control, world is very alive, diverse enemies, really fun"

Replying to a Tweet isn't the best format to show the first lot gameplay for Crackdown 3 - also, given how big the project is (and how much work publishing is in general), they'll already have a schedule of when they're showing it and what exactly they're showing, so they'll be sticking to that. Unfortunately for us, that'll probably be around E3 time.

It's interesting to wonder, however, if the last couple of weeks of bad press will impact that or not, like whether they'll show Crackdown 3 earlier/later, or shuffle around some stuff for the Scorpio reveal. Time will tell, I guess

Obscure_Observer3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Wait for E3. If Cloud works for Crackdown 3, some people will choke with crow stuck in their throats!

UCForce3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Look, I understand. But we haven't seen Crackdown 3 gameplay since 2015. So you believe Phil Spencer that much ?

Edit : @Obscure_Observer Ok, I see.

CP_Company3071d ago

after 4 and half year, some people still talking about "cloud",so how many years we will need to wait that mighty "cloud"?

nowitzki20043071d ago

And if they dont show actual gameplay with enemies and all? or if it doesnt work as great as everyone thinks? Will anyone be choking then?

Obscure_Observer3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

@UCForce

Yeah. I belive Phil is honest at heart. He doesn´t run or shy away from the Scalebound´s cancellation fallout! And to me, it says a lot about a leader. He faced (and still are facing) angry Xbox One owners, fans and fanboys like a boss.

He is nothing like the PR clowns at MS like Greenberg. Heres what he said about the "Year of the Scorpio" despise of his fellow co-workers corporated PR BS claims:

"Going to be a good year. Work to do on games, platform, XBL and hardware, fun times. Im waiting to hype until we show games"

If he is not hyping the Scorpio, why would him hype or lie about Crackdown 3´s development? Doesn´t even make sense.

So yeah, i´m expecting Phil and Xbox team to deliver on this and shove crow down the throat of the naysayers. ;)

I understand that might turn out disappointed on this. But i rather stay positive than negative. :)

nowitzki20043071d ago

@Obscure
"I understand that might turn out disappointed on this. But i rather stay positive than negative. :)"

Its a good way to go about life. I hope it works and works great. Just from what we have seen and little they have shown, doesnt tell me that they are very confident with it.

tyasia03071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

@Obscure_Observer

"Wait for E3. If Cloud works for Crackdown 3, some people will choke with crow stuck in their throats!"

I'll wait untill the game is in peoples hands and not on a closed network.

"Yeah. I belive Phil is honest at heart. He doesn´t run or shy away from the Scalebound´s cancellation fallout! And to me, it says a lot about a leader. He faced (and still are facing) angry Xbox One owners, fans and fanboys like a boss."

What, going on a twitter rampage to distract people and try to change the conversation topic?

"He is nothing like the PR clowns at MS like Greenberg. Heres what he said about the "Year of the Scorpio" despise of his fellow co-workers corporated PR BS claims: "

He is the head of Xbox, he's greenlighting what these guys say. Do you think he was unaware of how misleading the "Best Selling Console" or the "4K Gaming" ads ect. were? Did he stop them? No.

"If he is not hyping the Scorpio, why would him hype or lie about Crackdown 3´s development? Doesn´t even make sense."

Why... because you Xbox guys keep falling for the Microsoft hype machine every time they do it.

"I understand that might turn out disappointed on this."

Good.

Obscure_Observer3071d ago

@tyasia0

Since you call me a "Xbox guy", is clear that you don´t know nothing about me. I understand. You don´t trust Phil. Good for you. By reading your comments i´m not gonna waste my time trying to change your mind.

Happy gamming! :)

Gazondaily3071d ago

Don't worry. When they show the tech then the goalposts will move for the naysayers to something else...

Oh wait...they already showed it......

RosweeSon3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Took the words out of my mouth Talk is indeed cheap look at patcher.. I could sit hear and talk Crackdown 3 up doesnt mean anything tho. Show the game of let us see it play a demo the game will talk for itself if it's up to scratch. They better hope so otherwise they better go buy up games.
I'd say sweet it's good septic I've got no problem with saying something is good if it's warranted. They've shown naff all of the game as all we hear is yeah it's looking sweet.. show us trailer a recent one. Cloud stuff is all good but pretty crap if internet is down. Reckon it'll be a mess Myself not like it's a top series anyway Crackdown 1 was cool 2 was alright 3 is MIA. ✌🏻

Gazondaily3071d ago

So say it works. Say they do what you're saying and let you play the demo or the game. And the tech works.

What will you say then?

nowitzki20043071d ago

He could at least tweet "New Ips are coming along great!"

tinynuggins3071d ago

Why does he need to tweet what we already know? Of course ms has new ips and unannounced games in development. Same with sony and Nintendo. They shouldnt have to show their cards early just to make you feel better right now. Just be patient and wait for e3. If after e3 you're not happy, sell the system.

game4funz3071d ago

Didn't they already do that?... Phil already said new ips at e3

mark_parch3071d ago

i'm really excited for crackdown but i think i might be disappointed

nowitzki20043071d ago

Same here. CD1 is one of my all time favorites. CD2 was forgettable though. Keeping a very close watch on CD3 but not getting my hopes too high.

kassler3071d ago

If it's working great, why not show it? Xbox are in need of some positive news!

Obscure_Observer3071d ago

Why would they do that? E3 is the perfect event to show the cloud power to the world. (if it really works like it supposed to on multiplayer mode)

nowitzki20043071d ago

So far the only video I have seen of gameplay had 0 enemies and looked like a X360 game

Obscure_Observer3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

@nowitzki2004

In case you didn´t notice the "gameplay" you´re referring to was intented to show the cloud tech behind the game. Zero "enemies"? Of course! It was a tech demo and not a full multiplayer competitive match. And oh, it looked like a 360 game to you? Guess what? The game wasn´t polished either!

Nice try though. ;)

nowitzki20043071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

Its not my fault thats all they showed. If I had something great and it worked, I wouldnt wait 2 years to show it again lol.

sinspirit3071d ago

@Obscure_Observer

Many tech demo's actually have great graphics nowadays. And, from how much time has passed between so many of these games MS revealed we have gotten next to nothing for updates. Not even screen captures. It's ridiculous to see you trying to spin more positivity out of their continued lack of support and lame attempts and numbers games at marketing.

Cloud is a gimmick in the way they are trying to present it to you and what they want you to believe. 99% of the things they pretend are new are actually over a decade old. And, the make believe that they will dedicate so many resources to your console on their dime is a ridiculous thing to think. I did really intense research a while ago on this, and so have many others. The latency is too much. Their servers, even locally, are not up to par in power, consistency of server units(they have a ton of variations of low to mid range server hardware from 5 years ago), and it costs to much resources just to get it to function properly in software at the level they want you to believe they will do, and even if they do make it work it is financially a waste of their own time and money and as a business they won't actually do it. That is why all of their demos have been connected to a local server.

Obscure_Observer3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

@nowitzki2004

"Its not my fault thats all they showed. If I had something great and it worked, I wouldnt wait 2 years to show it again lol."

The cloud computing that will (hopefuly) power Crackdown 3's multiplayer mode is a PIONEER technology on console games. The tech is in its infant days. The project and investment are HUGE. And you just expect it to work like charm? The game was announced on June 2014, will take 3 year to be released and yet here you are ranting, complaing and making demands like things should meet your agenda/expectations. If the game so far doesn´t impressed you at all, one can wonder why do you even care?

E3 is not far away. Give it time and relax.

Obscure_Observer3071d ago (Edited 3071d ago )

@sinspirit

"Many tech demo's actually have great graphics nowadays. And, from how much time has passed between so many of these games MS revealed we have gotten next to nothing for updates. Not even screen captures"

I´m also dying for some screenshots, videos, news and updates for Detroit Become Human as well. And so far, nothing! Does it make me angry? No!

"It's ridiculous to see you trying to spin more positivity out of their continued lack of support and lame attempts and numbers games at marketing."

Maybe. But not more ridiculous than fanboys ranting, hating and spread FUD and lies on every positive MS and Nintendo articles. They fool no one with their false concern and biased agenda. They´re only fooling themselves to think anyone really care or fall for their tired, lame and repeated hateful gospel sh%$.

"Cloud is a gimmick in the way they are trying to present it to you and what they want you to believe."

MS is a leading cloud computing company (Azure). So forgive me for take their words in consideration on this matter after many years of experience, research, resources, money, investiments, structure, marketing and manpower over your "intense internet research".

But hey, we shall see soon. E3 is not that far. :)

rainslacker3070d ago (Edited 3070d ago )

Yeah, I mean, last E3, where we were told to wait for that event....remember? I do. They gave a developer diary saying how exciting it was working on the game, and barely showing anything.

Kind of what they did with the Scorpio reveal....saying how all those developer dreams could now come true.

MS likes to talk about the game, but they do seem to have a really hard time actually showing the game. That's not usually a good sign. Consider they showed off Scalebound in what Xbox fans now claim is a terrible state, which everyone else called a terrible state before, yet all we get from CD3 is some canned "simulated" footage for a video of the developers talking about how exciting it is to develop the game.

nothing to worry about though....no reason for concern.....MS is good at delivering on the hype.

The developers behind RIGS say hello. 3rd Sony studio to close down recently, right? Both companies cancel production, but it obviously has less impact on a company that has more studios to absorb the loss (like Sony). You got downvotes by pathetic gamers for feeling hopeful about good games coming out next year. Imagine how small your brain must be to downvote someone excited for future gaming joy? It is pretty neat to see people's world view blow up in front of them as they realize Microsoft has put themselves in a driver's seat that Sony hasn't been able to touch all generation.... What's even more pathetic is the same people downvoting you are the same people wishlisting Microsoft games on their ps5s 😂

NGL, next year might be one of the best years in gaming ... starting off with RE9 and GTA VI ...
and then all the good games that's been cooking
Pragmata, Sands of Time, Saros, Gears E-Day, 007 First Light, Blood of Dawnwalker,
Mortal Shell II, Onimusha, Marvel1943: Rise of Hydra
current-gen only Infinity Ward's CoD, Duskbloods
+ My guess: Wolverine, Exodus, Mudang, Crimson Desert, Clockwork etc ...
~ seems like it might get too stacked

1Victor1d 1h ago

@rokos:”Hopefully “
I downvoted you not for been hopeful but because I have seen the same “NEXT YEAR WILL BE SPECIAL “ comment for the last 10+ and hasn’t seen anything special from Microsoft.
I hope next year will be the one that everyone been waiting for since the last 3 years of the Xbox 360, it have to be after over $80 billions spent on acquisitions.

Lightning771d ago

So the new excuse is they don't count because it's from the ABK now huh. I guess all those 3rd party games count even less because they don't own them. According to your always crappy logic.

neutralgamer19921d 10h ago

I don't know they have delivered this year and even last year. And they have a lot more content in the pipeline right now than anyone else. We can't just keep hating on MS

Indiana Jones
South of midnight
Avowed
Flight simulator
Hell Blade 2
Minecraft update
Gears of war reloaded
Indian Jones:expansion
Gears E day
Clockwork revolution
Fable
Doom the dark ages
The outer worlds 2
Grounded 2
Call of duty

OtterX1d 10h ago

How many of those titles were just buyouts of companies that were going about making their games anyways? *Throws cash - "Oh look what we made!"

dveio1d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

This list, that's been posted again, and again, and again in every single topic like this, contains almost nothing, literally almost nothing from Microsoft's own creational thoughtprocess.

It's a bunch of former 3rd party IPs.

Now even slowly returning to Playstation in some cases like Indiana, Hellblade, probably Starfield soon too, after they were made exclusively to Xbox on purpose.

Due to Microsoft's lack for own IP material except Halo & Forza. Which, the lack of, was the sole reason for all of it to happen in the first place anyway. Please don't pretend it wasn't.

And just look at all the games that come from Obsidian alone.

You really think Obsidian wasn't already working on Avowed and South of Midnight even without Microsoft buying Zenimax?

Microsoft delivered nothing but cheques.

OtterX1d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

@dveio THIS. Lol, this dude thinks Call of Duty wouldn't exist without Microsoft! smh 😂

neutralgamer19921d 10h ago (Edited 1d 10h ago )

Common narrative I see often — that Microsoft shouldn’t get credit for the games its studios release because they “just bought them.” But this viewpoint ignores key context and sets a double standard that other platform holders aren’t held to

No one is saying these games wouldn't exist at all without Microsoft. But let’s not pretend that having a trillion-dollar company backing a studio doesn’t make a massive difference. Obsidian never had AAA funding before the Xbox acquisition. Pillars of Eternity was crowdfunded, and their resources were always stretched thin. Now they’re working on Avowed, with proper support behind it.

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was made by around 20 people, using borrowed equipment and doing mocap in a boardroom. It was a passion project held together by tape and willpower. Today, Hellblade II exists because they were given resources, time, and freedom — something many developers don’t get unless they’re owned by a company that believes in their vision.

ZeniMax (Bethesda’s parent company) was in real financial trouble before the Microsoft acquisition. Reports and insider accounts have pointed out how much they needed a cash infusion. And while some people want to write off Xbox’s ownership of Bethesda titles, they forget the alternative could have meant layoffs or even closures.

The same goes for Activision Blizzard. Would you really prefer the company to stay under Bobby Kotick, after all the documented workplace misconduct and toxic leadership issues? Say what you want about Microsoft, but their acquisition brought accountability and change to a company that desperately needed it.

At the same time, Xbox gets hated on for doing what every major company does. Sony bought Housemarque, Bluepoint, Insomniac — but no one says Spider-Man 2 “doesn’t count” because of that. Why does Xbox get treated differently for acquiring struggling or undervalued developers and giving them a chance to thrive?

And the idea that Xbox locks games away is outdated. They're pushing cross-platform releases, cloud gaming, Game Pass, and backward compatibility more than any other platform holder. They're not forcing all studios into live service. If anything, their upcoming lineup is less GAAS-heavy and more focused on narrative and creativity — Avowed, South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Perfect Dark, Towerborne, and others show real variety.

Whether people like it or not, Xbox is now the biggest publisher in the industry and owns the most gaming IPs. But what matters more is how they treat their studios. Most of these teams were previously stuck making AA games with limited scope — now they’re getting the tools and support to aim higher.

So when people say “Microsoft didn’t make those games,” they’re missing the point. It’s not about who started the studio — it’s about who enabled them to do their best work. You don’t have to love Xbox to admit they’ve helped a lot of developers and are taking a player-first approach.

Instead of writing off everything they do, maybe try recognizing the good they’re doing for both devs and gamers. At the end of the day, we should want more studios to succeed — no matter who owns them

BeHunted1d 9h ago

I'm surprised Clockwork Revolution (BioShock meets Dishonored) isn't getting more media attention. The game looks interesting and reminds me of the old RPG games.

anast1d 9h ago

The only good game on that list is Flight sim. The rest are either average or will be average. It's not a good look for MS.

TheEroica1d 8h ago

My god.... Look how many comments are upset about microsoft's successes... 😂 This may be my new favorite thread. Not one gamer saying thanks for all the goodness coming their way, just bitter anger and downvoting the very games they themselves will purchase throughout 2026.... Sony really worked you guys over this generation.... Condolences.

DivineHand1251d 7h ago

@neutralgamer1992 You said what needed to be said.

I have heard for years from older gamers that fanboys are the biggest issue with any fanbase. They will defend or gloss over negative news as long as the correct logo is on the box and they bash the competing platform no matter how much good they are trying to bring.

Right now their advocacy for PlayStation is elevating that platform so high that Sony no longer believes they need to do anything to satisfy their loyal fanbase like they did in the PS4 days.

I just hope most of them will eventually start advocating for themselves and encourage others to do the same. No one should blindly support one platform because these companies do not care about anything other than profit.

neutralgamer19921d 7h ago

Hunted

And first proper game done by the studio with proper AAA budget and saying it will be released when ready

Anast

I believe we went through this before that you are objectively wrong. Meta critic, user reviews, game sales. In Playstation top 10 best selling games were 5 from Microsoft studios

Otter

No this dude is saying so many other studios wouldn't be thriving without MS money and people would be getting abused physically and mentally with Bobby kotick and his side kicks

Also maybe look up how the original founder of Bethesda and zenimax was kicked out of his own company by his best friend lawyer. So that was always a shady place and had been struggling financially before MS paid a premium of almost 7 billion

Eroica

I use to be a die hard Playstation fan and now I only have a Pc. I see how these fans are so toxic. They just can't handle any positive news regarding Xbox. When the best selling games on playstation are Xbox titles. Look at Forza horizon being best seller and that's years old game by MS. I guess ms don't deserve credit for that success too since they are the only company in gaming making acquisitions

Forget the fact Sony paid 3.6 billion for bungie and MS 6.9 for zenimax. Which investment has turned out better

Destiny and marathon with a lot of controversy

While zenimax output is nothing short of amazing compared to what bungie has released

crazyCoconuts1d 7h ago

Yeah it's tricky. "Xbox" has morphed to mean different things to different people.
Console, now Windows, GamePass, and the cross platform games. There's a mix of attitudes towards all those things individually, and maybe an overarching attitude towards MS. But can't argue that the game companies MS recently bought continue to flourish, and GamePass PC has been a great value over the last year.
