Dash Bomber writes, "Conflicts, studies, and dealing with stress are some of the staples of teenage youth. Adventuring, arranged marriages, fighting batmen, kidnappers, and even gods is not. However, if you’ve ever played Princess Maker 2, you’d be forgiven for the confusion. You see, your character has just fought off the Devil himself and saved the kingdom, but what is his reward? An angel child that has lived its entire life in heaven. Some god determined that you’ve had enough of your youth and she’s had enough of paradise on her tenth birthday. Now she’s your problem, but here’s the question: what will you do to guide your new daughter in life? Under your tutelage, will Olive become a tyrant queen of the demon realm or can she become the very queen of the nation you’ve sworn to protect?"
Tim Trzepacz has been involved in the video games industry since MicroProse’s Sega Genesis version of Pirates! Gold was released in 1993. He’s worked on games like Ratchet and Clank, James Bond 007: From Russia with Love, Magic Knight Rayearth, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, Silent Hill: Origins and Silhouette Mirage. We talked to him about Princess Maker 2, which his company SoftEgg attempted to release outside of Japan between 1995 and 2002.
Sakura Wars would have been great to see get a translation. I also think would be be nice to see the newer Princess Maker games come out in North America too. There has been many great PC games and console games over the years that sadly never came in in the west. Hopefully in the future that all will change and many games from the past, plus now have a better chance of getting a translation.
Princess Maker 2 Refine is a redesign of the “life simulation game” where the player takes on the role of an adoptive father who must raise his new daughter into adulthood.
From the article, "So, as you've all probably gathered, I'm a bit of a Princess Maker fan. Princess Maker is basically a glorified virtual pet, except instead of raising an animal, you're raising a kid. (Sure, you can argue that people are basically animals, but let's not get into that now.)
Up until now, you've probably seen my earnest recommendations of the games and series and perhaps brushed them aside. Sure, the game may be good, but is it really that good? Yes. Yes it is. And to illustrate that, I have put together some of the reasons why I love the Princess Maker games so much.
Since I've only had the opportunity to play Princess Maker 2 and Princess Maker 4 Portable, most of my reasons for loving the series stem from those entries. Almost every Princess Maker game possesses the same basic principles, so there shouldn't be too many discrepancies with the other entries."
