PC/Xbox One Owners Will be Able to Buy Halo Wars: Definitive Edition as a Standalone Game in 2017

Microsoft sent out codes for an “Xbox Game Preview” version of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition to everyone who pre-ordered Halo Wars 2 last week. The remaster will continue to be tweaked and enhanced ahead of its “final” release, but the consolemaker had yet to announce if it would ever be available to PC and Xbox One owners who weren’t interested in the sequel… until now.

Wouldn't that be kind of like "Timed Exclusive DLC"?

SlyBoogie19933066d ago

No it's a pre-order bonus, and Halo is a Microsoft exclusive franchise anyway but I see where your thinking comes from

Overload3066d ago

I understand it's a preorder bonus, but any DLC could be a preorder bonus. What I'm saying is, it is available now for certain users and not for other users until a later date. It sounds like timed exclusive content to me, just in a bit of a different form.

"Wouldn't that be kind of like "Timed Exclusive DLC"?"

the original is backwards compatable at no extra charge. the remake is packaged with the new game as part of a bundle much like the new call of duty was and will be sold seperately in two months. if it was the other way around and you could not play halo wars 2 unless you bought the bundle then it would be a big deal.

Ok so were people thinking they were gonna follow Activision's sales practice and limit the remaster exclusively to the purchase of their new game? I was always under the impression that pre-ordering HW2 nabbed you simply early access to the game.

I think Crackdown would fit in a more turn-based tactics system via Xcom then a RTS type game play. Being able to customize multiple agents, deploying that group in an crime infested urban zone, going against other super powered enemy and fodder type thugs. The potential for that is huge if they won't do another successful, ground breaking, GOTY open world outing like Crackdown 3....

P_Bomb799d ago

I could see that. I feel like State of Decay could spin-off into something strategic as well.

giovonni798d ago

Actually that would be kind of fly if they made it a turn base RTS.

Crackdown tactics would be legit!!

Halo 4 has the hottest Cortana too which explains why the MC is the hardest in that campaign and why H4's multiplayer is the illest. Chief ain't afraid to take on teleporting enemies that can one hit melee kill.
