Only one detail needs to be known. It will be garbage. Like every other internally developed game that SE has released the last 10 years.

luckytrouble3101d ago

But...but...FFXV is a pretty good game...

mikeslemonade3101d ago

Agree for Turn Based

Disagree for Action Rpg

Gazondaily3101d ago

The main question we should be asking is: when will this be released?

NecoTehSergal3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

Something tells me you're one of those Hardcore 'OldSchool' RPG Turn-based fanboy Trash who don't know how to grow the fuck up - always whining whenever something 'Turn-based' or 'Heavy RPG' goes more 'Action oriented' and you'll whine all day about it.

Only thing garbage is you - the game should do fine.

ninsigma3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

Kalkano you're the last person to be calling people childish.

Edit: I don't think you know what a tantrum is because no one here is doing it. Let me explain, it's more akin to the crying you've been doing in every ff 15 article about how it's not turn based. Talk about throwing your toys out of the pram!

SoulMikeY3101d ago

Kalkano, except you're the feet stomper, and he just came to your room and spanked you, and told you to shut your mouth...

Sounds like you got sonned fool.

1L4stCh4nce3101d ago (Edited 3100d ago )

I'm in the middle of playing World of Final Fantasy and you can play it entirely turned-based if you want. It is pretty fun too. It is a bit cartoon-like compared to FFXV, but it has many similarities to a classic FF.

djaparatic3101d ago

Ninsigma comment for burn of the year <3!

NecoTehSergal3101d ago

*Spanks kalkano and grounds him for a day*

whoa there, c'mon FF 15 is good and this is coming from a long-time fan and someone who didn't particularly care for FF13 or any Square-Enix RPGs from last-gen.

Vkviz3100d ago

Lol dude I'm 70 hours into FFXV and not planning on putting it down anytime soon. That's some pretty good garbage

I really want to be excited for this. Not sure yet how I feel about it being split into 3 parts... maybe the first is the first half of the story and game(the death of Aeris, Sephiroth finding and using the black Materia in the crater to summon Meteor? The second could easily be all of The Golden Saucer and side quests... The third the ending half, hunting the Weapons and stopping Sephiroth and Meteor? I dunno it's all speculation at this point. The graphics look amazing, but I'm not sure how I feel about the combat change, what will they do with Materia considering they were so important the first time around? I'm not going to hold my breath considering all the overhyped let-downs of the last couple years, but I will be cautiously optimistic until proven otherwise. Just my two cents...

Pennywise1383101d ago

In some way she the remake looks a lot like ff15 but re skinned with ff7 characters. All I know is that I would have loved a true ff7 remake with the original turn based combat. No need to reinvent the wheel on this one. Just make it beautiful and have the story be as engaging. Leave everything else alone.

_-EDMIX-_3101d ago

So you're telling me you're surprised Final Fantasy characters who look like Final Fantasy characters?

....

Final Fantasy 7 is also running in a different engine you're also disregarding that the character design is by the same person.

So I don't entirely know what you mean by "looks like" as you do more with a game then simply look.

How do you know if the original creators of the game even want turn-based? If you read the interviews with the original creators even they never wanted it to be that way , clearly they're remaking it with the intentions of what they've always wanted to technically create.

Also FFVII was ATB.

If you want Final Fantasy 7 that is action base , the original still exist ,go play the HD remaster if that's what you want.

shauzy3101d ago

would be pretty awesome if they were labeled discs 1, 2 and 3

Omnislashver363101d ago

Materia will work exactly the same. In KH3 they now have pages on the shortcut menu, making it easy to access all spells. I can only imagine FFVIIR will be the same. In KH-BBS they showed that situational spells like mini, frog, and poison actually work better in an ARPG system IMO, still tons of tactic.

The only materia in question are All-attack(forget the name) and 2x/4x cut, and it shouldn't be difficult to get an equivalent. All-attack will just have a wider attack area, and 2x/4x cut will just double attack rate. Then there's the Master Materia. Obviously these aren't going to be useful as it'll take forever to scroll through the menus, but still, they're end-game materia just there for fun.

As far as 3-discs go, I can only imagine this will be a good thing. FFXV was anemic on story, so FFVIIR will need 3 discs if they want to expand. I want to see Sapphire Weapon, Topaz, and whatever else. I want to visit other sectors in Midgar. I want to see Loveless. The game needs 3 discs. This ensures that we'll not only have more content, but we'll get to play it as it develops. The way I see it, you're paying to get in on the game early, and get more content. You can always wait until the entire game is released to get it for a lower price if it suits you, but I'm paying to play it early, as it's developed.

joethetimelord3101d ago

I feel it's going to be Part 1: Midgar, Part 2: post-Midgar up to Aeris's death, Part 3: everything else.

muttsurini3101d ago

ff15 = 2 major cities(Lestallum and Altissia),a bunch of similar pit stops + a bunch of dungeons including Insomnia as a dungeon.
ff7 = 2 major cities (Midgar and Junon) + 6 minor towns or cities + Golden Saucer.
Midgar size > Altissia
Junon > Lestallum

yeah just think about how big ff7 than ff15, it would probably have a 7-10 years of development and it would not fit on a 50 gig blueray disc if they made the game as a whole.

_-EDMIX-_3101d ago

Agreed and agreed.

When factoring in today's technology, that is no simple feat.

can't wait to play this in 2021

FallenAngel19843101d ago

The first episode/part should release next year to coincide with the game's 20th anniversary

Omnislashver363101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

Really hoping this turns out to be true, but Nomura has said he's "just seen" parts of the Scorpion boss battle so that's kind of difficult to see in 2017. If it is, you can expect the first part only goes until the end of Midgar(meaning a 4-5 disc game which would kind of suck). 2018 is my expectation though. KH3 will probably be out late this year and FFVIIR will probably follow up next year.

Who knows, I could be wrong though, the situation may be reversed with FFVIIR this year and KH3 next year. Maybe the boss battles require that much more programming and they may have made more progress in other areas. We'll see how much progress they've made at e3 hopefully.

ninsigma3101d ago

I think that will be the case too. Really hope it does, I'm so psyched for it!

-Gespenst-3101d ago

Super excited for this, but there are a number of things that can't see making the cut.

Hojo sunbathing at Costa Del Sol surrounded by bikini-clad women. I'm fairly sure that part's not even optional - it advances the story. So weird and out of place.

Resuscitating Priscilla in Old Junon. That was just weird and kind of unnecessary. Square seemed desperate to insert mini-games wherever they could. Maybe Cloud will resuscitate her, but it won't be a mini-game this time.

Using a dolphin to propel Cloud to the top of an electricity pylon so that he could reach Junon proper. That was just completely silly, and was another contrived mini-game.

The snowboarding mini-game. Again, so out of place. I'd imagine Cloud and co. will make their way to the Great Glacier some other way in the remake.

That RTS mini-game at Fort Condor. It's pretty hard to imagine them including it or something like it, but I can imagine them trying a kind of Dynasty Warriors approach. The game is going to be an action RPG after all.

The submarine mini-game. This one's weird in that it's super, super short, and you basically never do it again. I feel like it will be replaced with something more substantial.

The play at the Gold Saucer Event Square that Cloud and whoever his date is perform in. I think it would be quite difficult to work this into the game just because how goofy it is, but perhaps they'll find a way.

During the scene in Kalm where Cloud tells the party about what happened in Nibelheim, you can root through Tifa's dresser and find "Orthopedic Underwear". Of course, it's supposed to be a joke on Cloud's part, but it's kind of out of character for him I think. It's a minor thing which I doubt will be in the remake.

And then there are things that will probably just about make the cut.

I'd say the Midgar highway motorcycle mini-game will be in it. It'll probably play like that G-Bike android game.

The Honeybee Inn. They kind of have to include it somehow.

Cross-dressing and infiltrating Don Corneo's mansion. Again, this will probably make it in. In the context of the game, it's not actually that out of place, because it's Aerith's idea, and as a character Aerith is sort of quirky, cheeky and mischievous. Having said that, the execution of it could be disastrous.

Finally, there are things that need to be improved.

The way Cait Sith joins the party is so stupid. He literally just says, "I'm coming along with you guys and there's nothing you can do to stop me!", and they're all like, "alright, fair enough". It's so bad. So Cait Sith needs to be written into the party better.

Cid isn't written into the party very well either, and in loads of his cutscenes he's just dozing off, not listening to anything that's being said. He doesn't really have much of a reason to be in the party other than to be the guy who pilots the inevitable airship. So they need to beef up his motivations a little better.

Irishguy953101d ago

If alll of that is missing it'll be missing my money haw haw haw...

No really though. They can advance the gameplay all they want. Removing what made FF7 great is another thing altogether.

ninsigma3101d ago

Disagree. I can some few missing maybe (like the dolphin propelling cloud up, don't know how that will make sense with the more realistic graphics) but most mini games would work. Just because the game is action orientated doesn't mean the rts fort condor wouldn't work. It's why they're called mini games, so that the gameplay can change drastically from the main game.

showtimefolks3101d ago

I hope it's more along the lines of FF15 combat than turned based. FF15 combat isn't great but it's a good start for future FF games. With improvements and tweaks this combat system could work

The sales of FF15 prove that a lot more people were interested in the game so by going the action combat route they made a lot more gamers interested. I understand longtime FF fans don't like that so I hope they can give both types of gamers an option to play future FF games

Turned based has had its day but the market size is much smaller compared to real time action combat

Kyosuke_Sanada3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

But variety is still nice. I'm not saying that Final Fantasy VII Remake should go turn-based because SE already have made up their minds however It would be nice to see them release their lesser known RPGs or brand new IPS with turn-based mechanics (and with actual marketing that bigger than a shoe box). Everyone touts that they want more options but praise developers when they conform their titles and condemn those who wanted different.

At least Atlus tries to please all fronts and I expect Persona 5 to sell well.

FallenAngel19843101d ago

You know World of Final Fantasy released just a month before FFXV. Not to mention that Dragon Quest XI is a thing. Square Enix does have variety

3101d ago
FallenAngel19843101d ago

@ kal

No it isn't. Bravely Second released this year and it had classic FF turn based gameplay and it had a sizable budget for a handheld game. Not to mention the aforementioned WoFF.

You've got to be extremely conceited to start overlooking the other various turn based games Square Enix has released throughout the YEARS.

_-EDMIX-_3101d ago

@Kal- "DQ11 represents their first actual effort at Turn-Based in YEARS" Nope.

Bravely Default (which is actually a successor to FF-The 4 Warriors of Light)
Bravely Second
World Of Final Fantasy
I Am Setsuna

and so on.

I don't know what your talking about, I'm not even sure you play turned based games by Square to really know if they do or don't as many of your post seem to not even know of theses games, so your view on this is pretty much irrelevant. That isn't a "change" that is what the company currently makes in regards to some of its JRPGs. In fact, I can't even name a time where Square didn't make a turned based RPG or didn't have one in development etc.

Square makes more then just Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts you know.

Kyosuke_Sanada3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

I am happy for the release of World Of Final Fantasy (which I am planning to play after finishing Yakuza) but we all know this far from Square Enix's best especially after seeing the amount of effort put into Persona 5 by Atlus. Dragon Quest XI is what I am legitimately excited for but Square Enix has deeper pockets that could've released a new Parasite Eve, a new Chrono or even more turn-based games. Hell, they could have invested more money into World Of Final Fantasy to make it a titan of a game instead of investing it in the awful Kingsglaive movie and the soon to be cancelled Justice Monsters game.

What I am saying is given SE' size, we should have much more and better to chose from by now.

_-EDMIX-_3101d ago

How well did World of Final Fantasy do though?

More money isn't going to make a better game. I'm completely fine with who World Of Final Fantasy turned out, its not a "instead of" situation.

They still need to market FFXV, not an either or, simply both. Spend money on World of FF that actually justifies the cost, spend money to market FFXV.

Seeing how World Of Final Fantasy did, i don't see any issue with Square's funding. I just don't see MORE folks buying such a game simply because it has a bigger budget.

They spent the right amount of money based on their projected sales. I bought World Of Final Fantasy for the same reason I bought FFXV.

To play a JRPG.

Their budgets are irrelevant to my purchase. I also bought I Am Setsuna.

All 3 games have different budgets, I own them all.

Omnislashver363101d ago

The FFXV system is a terrible ARPG system. The KH-esque system it has is miles better. Magic menus are still present, magic shortcuts for all magic, heavy block, aerial combos, not to mention they've got the Dissidia team on it for cinematic battle effects. FFXV can suck a big one. The KH/Dissidia system FFVIIR currently has is lightyears ahead of it. Even keeps some of the oldschool ATB strategy with options and a similar pace while still being action oriented.

ninsigma3101d ago

Agreed, there are way better ARPG systems and KH is top class among them. I hope it's not an exact copy of KH though. I would like it to be different and unique for itself.

ninsigma3101d ago (Edited 3101d ago )

I'd like something more challenging than ff15 combat. I liked it, don't get me wrong but as I said in a previous post, I only game overed twice. I like what I saw from the trailer though.

Edit: posted without finishing.

muttsurini3101d ago

i would like FF7 remake adapt what tales of Zestiria had been doing on it's combat, switching characters in real time to have more strategic options.

FallenAngel19843101d ago

FFVII Remake will have character swapping. This was even shown off in a trailer

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit
