Square Enix has been working on the upcoming "Final Fantasy 7" remake since December 2014 and has already revealed a few details gamers can expect in the upcoming title.
Many games have come and gone as gaming began its illustrious history in this world. So let's talk about the top 100 video games of all time!
CGMagazine narrowed down some of the best reviews of the year to name our top 10 games, and ultimately CGMs Game of the Year 2024!
Nearly 27 years after the original game's release, Final Fantasy 7 superfan Jamie Colliver has finished his magnum opus: A shot-for-shot remake of the original PlayStation 1 game, created entirely via LittleBigPlanet 2. Colliver's remake reimagines the original game as a platformer, with every scene, every location, every line of dialogue, and every song from the game's OST painstakingly implemented .
Only one detail needs to be known. It will be garbage. Like every other internally developed game that SE has released the last 10 years.
I really want to be excited for this. Not sure yet how I feel about it being split into 3 parts... maybe the first is the first half of the story and game(the death of Aeris, Sephiroth finding and using the black Materia in the crater to summon Meteor? The second could easily be all of The Golden Saucer and side quests... The third the ending half, hunting the Weapons and stopping Sephiroth and Meteor? I dunno it's all speculation at this point. The graphics look amazing, but I'm not sure how I feel about the combat change, what will they do with Materia considering they were so important the first time around? I'm not going to hold my breath considering all the overhyped let-downs of the last couple years, but I will be cautiously optimistic until proven otherwise. Just my two cents...
can't wait to play this in 2021
Super excited for this, but there are a number of things that can't see making the cut.
Hojo sunbathing at Costa Del Sol surrounded by bikini-clad women. I'm fairly sure that part's not even optional - it advances the story. So weird and out of place.
Resuscitating Priscilla in Old Junon. That was just weird and kind of unnecessary. Square seemed desperate to insert mini-games wherever they could. Maybe Cloud will resuscitate her, but it won't be a mini-game this time.
Using a dolphin to propel Cloud to the top of an electricity pylon so that he could reach Junon proper. That was just completely silly, and was another contrived mini-game.
The snowboarding mini-game. Again, so out of place. I'd imagine Cloud and co. will make their way to the Great Glacier some other way in the remake.
That RTS mini-game at Fort Condor. It's pretty hard to imagine them including it or something like it, but I can imagine them trying a kind of Dynasty Warriors approach. The game is going to be an action RPG after all.
The submarine mini-game. This one's weird in that it's super, super short, and you basically never do it again. I feel like it will be replaced with something more substantial.
The play at the Gold Saucer Event Square that Cloud and whoever his date is perform in. I think it would be quite difficult to work this into the game just because how goofy it is, but perhaps they'll find a way.
During the scene in Kalm where Cloud tells the party about what happened in Nibelheim, you can root through Tifa's dresser and find "Orthopedic Underwear". Of course, it's supposed to be a joke on Cloud's part, but it's kind of out of character for him I think. It's a minor thing which I doubt will be in the remake.
And then there are things that will probably just about make the cut.
I'd say the Midgar highway motorcycle mini-game will be in it. It'll probably play like that G-Bike android game.
The Honeybee Inn. They kind of have to include it somehow.
Cross-dressing and infiltrating Don Corneo's mansion. Again, this will probably make it in. In the context of the game, it's not actually that out of place, because it's Aerith's idea, and as a character Aerith is sort of quirky, cheeky and mischievous. Having said that, the execution of it could be disastrous.
Finally, there are things that need to be improved.
The way Cait Sith joins the party is so stupid. He literally just says, "I'm coming along with you guys and there's nothing you can do to stop me!", and they're all like, "alright, fair enough". It's so bad. So Cait Sith needs to be written into the party better.
Cid isn't written into the party very well either, and in loads of his cutscenes he's just dozing off, not listening to anything that's being said. He doesn't really have much of a reason to be in the party other than to be the guy who pilots the inevitable airship. So they need to beef up his motivations a little better.
I hope it's more along the lines of FF15 combat than turned based. FF15 combat isn't great but it's a good start for future FF games. With improvements and tweaks this combat system could work
The sales of FF15 prove that a lot more people were interested in the game so by going the action combat route they made a lot more gamers interested. I understand longtime FF fans don't like that so I hope they can give both types of gamers an option to play future FF games
Turned based has had its day but the market size is much smaller compared to real time action combat
