Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford fights fires over lack of Bulletstorm upgrade discount

During The Game Awards, Gearbox announced it was behind the Bulletstorm remaster. Bulletstorm is a superb first-person shooter, as our Christian Donlan insists, so news of the Full Clip Edition was welcome. But shortly after the reveal, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford battled calls on Twitter for an upgrade discount programme that - it seems - is not going to happen.

What he said was correct though. If you're buying the game and want a discount then that means you already have it and you probably should just skip this. He can't win this, if he would have given reasons to buy it then people would say that it is normal PR responses.

Like, I totally get OMGGitzThatGuy's point, Randy's just being straight up about the Full Clip Edition, and how owners of the original Bulletstorm got the experience back then, but that's the problem. This Remaster seems so pointless, considering the only real improvements or significant additions are pre-order bonuses and the typical technical upgrades we come to expect this generation. There's nothing to offer unless you take the risk and buy it before info is out for Duke Nukem. I don't know about you, but I'm not pre-ordering a game that has the guy who lead the whole Aliens: Colonial Marines controversy, let alone for close to $60. If it's meant for people who haven't played the original, then it wouldn't be $60. I feel like they should've sold it as a budget title to grow the franchise, not milk it.

Randy Pitchford really is becoming more delusional by the day. Here you were able to find Battleborn for 5 effing Euros in the Bargain Bin, for Consoles, 1 month after release. So it was probably the biggest failure this Year. They probably dont spend much Money on this Remaster (it looks exactly like the original Game)

There are a few old games that have been remastered & were sold for 60 dollars...FF-Type-O,Odin's Sphere.I paid the 60 bucks but that's because I never played them before.I paid 60 bucks for Bulletstorm on the PS3 5 years ago & it was a decent game,got it again 4 years ago on PS plus,if it was 20 bucks I would buy it again.For someone who has never played it & with the enhancements I say go for it if you can afford to spend the 60 bucks.

It sounded like a great idea and the Duke addition was welcome but I wouldn't shell out full retail for it. I don't know many that would either.

I'm not going to buy skyrim at full retail either but at least I can see why somebody would. I cant see why anyone would pay full price for a bulletstorm remaster. It seems like a bonehead call. It will price drop faster than battle born.

I really liked bulletstorm when I owned it on the PS3, I'll do what I did last time and just wait for it to be 20.00 or less in a month or so when no one buys it, thanks Randy Pitchfork for the PS4 remaster! :)

The original sold appalling when it first came out. Sales figures so far down for a decent game that sold itself on its own hype, that the multiplayer side was dead within 2-3 weeks.
Now they have decided to remaster it and sell it again and expect full price for it, a few years later, in a time when sales figures for much bigger franchises like Titanfall and Call of Duty have suffered from below average sales and there is a big question mark over whether gamers are still willing to fork out money for games like they used to do 5 years ago....... and his reaction is "if ya don't like it, get lost!"
I am sorry but Bulletstorm sank without trace first time around, it is sure as hell going to sink even faster the second time around and its only saving grace was to encourage the few fans of the original version with a discount to tempt them to give it another play and build a bit of hype, and they just middle fingered them!
But then, is this not the same company that has made a few bad moves with their games lately and seen nobody playing them?

I was really looking forward to this but at $60 that is ridiculous. I rented the original Bulletstorm from Blockbuster then accidentally dropped in the drive up bin at my post office and they wouldn't give it back, lol. Only game I ever rented twice. Then I bought it for a dollar used about a year after it came out.
