Report: Dark Souls 3 Running on Switch, From Software Considering Trilogy ReRelease

According to industry insider Laura Kate Dale:

"From Software has Dark Souls 3 running on the Nintendo Switch with a level of performance they are happy with. They have not committed to releasing it yet, but discussions internally at the company have discussed the financial viability of re releasing the main three Dark Souls titles on the Switch with their DLC bundled in."

I think this is the first rumor I see (from an already proven and reliable industry insider) about a game running on Switch that's not available on previous generation platforms. If this is true, it could be indicative of the Switch actually being in the same ballpark as Xbox One / PS4 after all.

Here's hoping!

i cna see that goign very bad for people on the go. i broke 2 controllers playing darksouls, immagine breaking your entire console... err handheld because fo the dragon rider.. oh god

deafdani3063d ago

Lol. That won't be a problem for me because I never break stuff over videogames. I'm pretty patient.

As for people like yourself... well, play with a Switch Pro Controller with the tablet on stand mode, so you only break a controller in worst case scenario... although it would be better if you learn to manage your frustration. :P

Goldby3063d ago

My frustration is fine, i need to control my obsession with Soulsbirne games while drunk

ziggurcat3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

Drunk Souls!

I watched a video once of a guy who streamed Dark Souls, and took a shot every time he died. He drank... a lot...

quent3063d ago

Nintendo should bundle the games with a boomerang like attachment for the Switch ;)

wonderfulmonkeyman3063d ago (Edited 3063d ago )

Good thing using the Pro controller is an option regardless of whether the system is docked or not.XD
@ quent
That would explain any returned systems.XD^_-

PlayableGamez-3063d ago

That is a problem on your end not the console.

NukaCola3063d ago

This makes me curious to know what the cartridge space is for data

xtheblackparade3063d ago

@Ziggurcat
I tend to actually perform better in games when having a couple of beers, up to a certain amount ofcourse. Guess I overestimate risks.

@quent:

"Nintendo should bundle the games with a boomerang like attachment for the Switch"

So that when you throw it out of frustration, it just comes right back to you?

Yeah, considering DS 3 is a distinctly current-gen game, I'd say that's very good news.

Neonridr3064d ago

Having never played their previous games this would be a no-brainer buy for me on the Switch if they included all three games.

moegooner883064d ago

And who exactly is gonna fund this??

deafdani3064d ago

I don't understand the question. Bandai Namco founded all the Dark Souls games. Is there any reason why they wouldn't do the same for a Switch version, if it were to happen?

moegooner883064d ago

Hardcore games sells loaaads on Nintendo consoles as proven before. I bet Namco B is dying to do so

The 10th Rider3063d ago

Bandai Namco does have a great relationship with Nintendo, and a trilogy of all three games would certainly be worth the cash. Also, it'd mean the souls games were playable on the go. Maybe Nintendo would let them throw in some Nintendo content too.

wonderfulmonkeyman3064d ago

Bandai Namco wouldn't have any issues funding this. This isn't the Wii U.

_-EDMIX-_3063d ago

I would assume Namco Bandai also it doesn't cost that much money to transfer games so I don't really see it hurting them financially.

They could probably transfer all 3 games for a fraction of the cost it would take to create a game from the ground up I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Thatguy-3103064d ago

I'm curious to see how these third party games will sell.

AizenSosuke3063d ago

Nintendo is making ideas here.

Goldby3063d ago

ya what better way to guarentee sales than have a game known for braking peoples controllers. only diffrence now is the controlelr is part of the tablet

deafdani3063d ago

You can detach the controllers, or use a Switch Pro Controller. Also, people shouldn't break stuff over videogames (or anything else, really).

Review: Mastering Dark Souls 3 Is A Monumental Achievement - Gamescordia

Dark Souls 3 is easily the most replayable game in the Dark Souls Series. But, is the game good enough to spend nearly 10 hours killing Silver Knights alone?

These games bore me to tears. I don’t mind the difficulty it’s just the constant killing the same enemies over every time you rest that makes it so monotonous

jznrpg526d ago

You open up a lot of shortcuts so you can skip many enemies. But if I don’t like games I don’t buy them.
