DF: Hitman PS4 Pro vs PS4: Improved in Every Way

No ifs or buts about it - Hitman represents a solid improvement on PlayStation 4 Pro. 1440p resolution, better texture streaming and faster frame-rates.

Excellent! And with the current Black Friday sale in the PSN store (both US and EU!) it has a nice price to boot!

Genuine-User3133d ago

Yep. I'm wondering if I should buy it now or wait for the physical release.

Damn the first world problems lol

freshslicepizza3133d ago (Edited 3133d ago )

It really is a great game and there is tons of replay value. I bought it for the PC (50% off) but this is how PS4 Pro games should be. Good job

Aenea3133d ago

I was planning on waiting for the physical release but I couldn't pass this deal up!

VERY nice to see framerate improvements on top of resolution. This was my main concern with the pro, and aside from TLOU remaster it has passed with flying colors.

I finally gave in an traded mine in! One day 50% extra credit at GS. Yay! Great deal before Thanksgiving. And I must say I have no regrets. Not that my games look significantly better than on my PS4 - My 4K TV is at the other place. But everything is just that tiny little bit smoother. Just this little subtle difference. Unfortunately I can't do a side by side.

This game is, what I'd expect from the Pro. Yes, it isn't native 4k, but it is a significant boost over the PS4 and the 1440 is a great base to push this beyond 1080p and onto a 4K TV. Incl. higher frame rate and higher level of detail. I am totally fine with that rather then pushing it to 1800p/2160p and drop below 30 at places (see Deux Ex, even though reaching native 4K in that game is quite an achievement).

What nobody has yet mentioned that Remote Play finally works!!!! I had a blast with Titanfall 2 on my MacBook Pro last night. Full 60fps @ 1080p on a remote machine! Totally awesome, now I can play this on my patio whenever I want. the 720p @ 30fps cap on the Standard is just too laggy.

freshslicepizza3133d ago

One of the improvements along with better built in WiFi, that's why I expect the Pro to become the standard model. I don't see the slim offering as good of value any honestly it looks worse than the original.

kraenk123133d ago

I don't think they will officially fade out production but people buying it are already in the minority and it will become even less in the future.

gbsrnctaln3133d ago

Get that 4k tv to your place, or make the place that its in "your place" immediately lol

Ju3131d ago

Yes, eventually I will replace my 1080p here, too...but it's still a great improvement...no jaggies. Yay!

kraenk123133d ago (Edited 3133d ago )

You'll be delighted to hear that Deus Ex just has been patched and now runs flawlessly at 30 fps despite running at full 2160p at times!

Btw Digital Foundry just yesterday (before the patch was even out) put out a video in which they analysed performance and, despite what they had told earlier, they came to the conclusion it was almost always performing better on the Pro already!

gbsrnctaln3131d ago

This is great news! Time to download again!

Ju3131d ago

I got so many games this weekend and Deux Ex didn't make the cut...Maybe I'll get one more. It's still $29 until Monday I think

Master of Unlocking3132d ago (Edited 3131d ago )

Cool. I'm probably gonna get mine before this Xmas or at the very beginning of next year, too. One thing I wonder is, considering I don't have a 4K TV yet, and I probably won't have one in the foreseeable future, is it still possible to enjoy (some of) the extra bells and whistles the Pro offers, but without setting its resolution to 4K and just 1080p instead?

kraenk123131d ago (Edited 3131d ago )

You'll benefit from better image quality (via supersampling) and more stable framerates in general, as well as additional detail and/or even higher framerates...the exact improvements in 1080p (as well as 4K) differ from game to game. Some games offer different modes where you can chose between better framerate or improved detailing. What is important to know is the games need to be patched, otherwise they will just run like on normal PS4. It is unknown if more older games ever will receive patches, new ones certainly will. PSVR also benefits greatly from the Pro.

It’s the 25th anniversary this year?

I’d have assumed it would have gotten something like a remastered trilogy of the original games or a remake of the first game. Something for a 25th celebration.

Super lacklustre
