Console Overwatch player proves his skill with Lucio isn't just because 'he's on console'

YouTuber DPStanky had a point to prove. About two months ago, he showed the world how good he was at Overwatch while playing as Lucio, one of the game’s more popular characters and also one of its hardest to control and utilise. This guy absolutely destroyed the competition.

I would be more impressed if he done it with a joypad on the PC - the guy is clearly a talented FPS player no doubt, But I think that mouse and keyboard has the upper hand over joypads for obvious reasons

Indeed. He used M/KB for this exact reason. You can't compete on PC with a gamepad, which is why he didn't do it.
He used M/KB like everyone else on PC, because you play better that way. And he played great.
Let's just not pretend that he proved controllers or consoles are better (or on par, even). He proved himself to be a great player on both systems, nothing else.

I'm not disagreeing with you guys... but the main reason the guy did this is because there's always an excuse. They told him "you can't do this on PC, you would get merc'd" So he went on PC and did exactly what he did on console. They told him the jumping around from wall to wall wouldn't work cause a McRee would just pop him easy... they didn't.

But now it's he play on PC with M/KB? He can't do this with a controller on console? Yes, it's clear that M/KB is a lot more precise than a controller. I think the point here is that in you have skills it doesn't matter if your on console or PC.

Would have been impressive if he didn't use the mouse and keyboard. It's the same case for me, I can aim good witha controller, I can aim my best with a Keyboard and mouse, so this is practically pointless. I know a friend who used to COD4, and he used to wreck most of the guys with a controller, but when he required his true skill, against good players, he used the mouse and keyboard. Null article.

This Youtuber played on console first before switching to PC. This wasn't about which set up or controls he was using but that his playstyle could be adapted to PC. Everyone was saying that he couldn't pull these Lucio moves off on PC because people had better aim, so he proved them wrong lol

Yep, I play on anything that can run games, and even though I have a really nice PC some of my all time favorite games run at 30fps, the elitism thing is really annoying, we're all just trying to have a good time.

agreed, I owned all sony and Microsoft consoles since ps1 and xbox first gen, and I still have them all..on top of that I have a windows 98 pc for testing and playing older games and fixing them on my windows 10 pc. having a blast on both consoles and pc gaming! Screw the PC Master race crap.

He's got some sort of mental block against PC gamers. He calls out PC players, but is too stupid to understand what it's all about.

As a PC and console gamer, it isn't about one 'race' over another. It's all about control scheme. A person using a 360/One/DS4 controller will have a serious disadvantage over a person with a KB+Mouse or controller+mouse.

So the author of this tripe thinks PC people thinks everyone sucks who plays consoles. Nope. It's control scheme.

Now, some people can hold their own, but you are still at a disadvantage. There are some games which are easy to then others. Overwatch actually is one of these. (of course it also depends on what characters you pick).

So this guy decided to use a mouse, and somehow it's PC master race got destroyed? It's like a 2 year old talking politics.

What this means is... he used the 'elite master race' control scheme against others... and won. Which means what? Not what the author thinks it means.

He needed to be all controller against kb+mouse, controller+mouse, or kb+trackball. He didn't, so what this author thought was won, it wasn't.

Even then, once again let me remind you, that being controller with Overwatch is one of the easiest games to compete against people with PC control schemes.

How do I know because I use controller+mouse, and sometimes just go controller. But oh is it alot easier to destroy people using a mouse.

Actually, that's exactly the charge PC gamers will often level. It's not even limited to input device, but everything with associated with it as well (game speed, aim assist etc).

The basic criticism is that console players are not skilled and that the controller merely covers up their inadequacies. That they can't aim as well, that they can't react as fact etc; i.e they are more deficient as players and people not FOR their input device but BY ASSOCIATION OF their input device. That is to say that they are somehow mentally less capable of ever being skilled because of some bizarre imagined console taint. Which this article shows is complete BS.

And if you don't believe this is honestly what is happening (despite it obviously being the case because there is so much self-superior BS) then you need to be first in line to quell this nonsense and let people know you aren't okay with them speaking for your community.

And again, I stress these criticisms are almost NEVER fair assessments of one control input over another (that would call for a technical comparison, not wong-waving ego-trips of ill-gotten superiority). i.e they are not criticisms of the player's skill output being limited by input device, but their skill ceiling being pre-determined by the kind of box they play a game on.

Headline is a bit misleading. He didn't destroy PC records while playing on console. People basically said his tactics would not work on PC so he switched to PC, and spent 2 months working his way through the ranks, using a KB&M.

I had few friends who kept linking the stupid Kotaku website(I think that's the original site that made article about this) and kept kinda annoying me so I just told them that the guy used KB+M; which no PC gamers would argue about KB+M > controller that's what they get off on(one of the things) because the console friends thought he was using a controller in PC servers and were still doing great.

and if somehow there is still "console peasants" who believe controller > or = KB+M in FPS then please tell me you can agree with this statement;

since KB+M=controller why don't we merge console and PC Overwatch servers because KB+M doesn't give any advantage. "console peasants" shouldn't have any problem with that right? cause as PC Overwatch player I would LOVE to play with console OW player :D
