everybody who says Heroes of the Storm takes an average of 20mins per game and sometimes exceeding that, is incorrect. I earned the oni genji skin within the first 3 hrs and we were averaging game lengths of 10-15 mins. The fastest matches were 5-6+ mins. Literally tore thru matches.

I just played 5 matches right now. None of them lasted longer than 15 mins. Thanks for showing me the "stats," statman, but im speaking facts from my experience, actually just having played the game. and I KNOW FOR A FACT, that i started playing HotS on the 15th, exactly at NOON and I had the skin before 3:30pm. If matches were 20 mins, it would have taken me 5 hours to complete. F that. That is NOT what happened and you & your article or stats cant convince me otherwise. I have the skin; I've actually played the game, not pontificated about it. smart guy. #Literally

People aren't going to play quick match games to earn the rewards. Your "statistical data" takes into consideration this, and takes out of context what people are going to actually do . Data without context is not relevant to actual situations

What's wrong with you? The guy has shown you hard factual evidence of a documented average and your argument is:

But in your first post you said:

So no. You're wrong. The guy just proved you wrong using what's known as FACTS.
And you respond with:

"I've actually played the game, not pontificated about it. smart guy. #Literally"

Wha'st that got to do with it? It isn't shameful to acknowledge when you're wrong about something. But to act like a bell end against someone who simply presented you with statistical data....what does that say about you?

You need to take things into context. Despite the average map length time being correctly indicated as such, people who are playing the game simply to earn the rewards are not going to be playing a quick match style of play (which generally takes longer than vs ai matches) In general, these individuals are going to play the easiest mode of competition (vs beginner ai) with the path of least resistance. Some players, however, may not try to take the fastest route possible, and may actually play within quick matches against other real players. In these instances, the game matches will likely correspond appropriately with the data provided. Personally, I did play all 30 matches as quickly as possible, and the poster you took the time to disagree with is correct in that the average game length of those matches was 5 minutes, not 20. Context is everything

I can understand why people are bothered by it.
I know the skins are only cosmetic and do not affect matches but I dont like how Blizzard have handled the addition of new skins post launch.

They invent artificial rarity based on randomization and arbitrary goals such as playing a completely different game to reward the player.

I wish unlocking skins was based on in-game challenges. It would give owning a particular skin meaning.

Agreed, I remember Halo 3 implementing that notion and it was great because it never gave a Vegas feeling but encouraged players to play better instead.

Why is any one surprised when a company wants to promote a product by putting in incentives in another product.
The skins have no effect on the game and no one has to go after them.

I looked at this skins an thought, that looks cool, but when i read what you had to do to get it, I was like "Oh, oh well" and then I moved on.

I say I understand why people are bothered by it, but I also completely understand people who don't mind at all too. :)

Like you mentioned, the skins have no effect on the gameplay, and the core game loop stands on its own without them. For me, personally, I think it's wasted potential and could have been an opportunity to enhance the game loop by adding in-game challenges that encourage good game-play. For example, a skin for Hanzo that encouraged players to play the objective on Attack. :P

I'd feel the same way as you though. It's not that I feel a desire to go out and buy Heroes of the Storm just to earn a Genji skin. I'm just lamenting on what could have been. I just don't think lootboxes are fun. If you could trade them with other players or have some control over your inventory, that would be something cool but as of right now, I'm not into their implementation personally.

Again, it's only cosmetic and isn't important to the game loop, but I feel they could have been a great way to encourage the player to improve in certain areas by attaching challenges to them. (This instead is connected to certain sprays and achievements/Trophies).

I take it that most fans aren't concerned either way and that's totally cool too.

as a player who has tough times with LoL and Dota this game is actually a solid middle ground for players like me. Micro managing is hard especially when you need to make split second decisions. I'm good at rts like AOE, but moba is harder. HotS takes away lots of the micromanaging and focuses more on objectives and team play. Its refreshing!
