Do Not Be So Quick To Say TitanFall 2 And Infinite Warfare Have Had Disappointing Sales

The last few weeks have seen a flurry of AAA game releases with Battlefield 1, TitanFall 2, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Dishonored 2 all releasing one week apart. As Such, Skewed and Reviewed have posted an opinion piece which explains why some games have yet to make an audience.

Titanfall player numbers are sinking each week

Garethvk2873d ago

When more people get it and free DLC arrives that will change

_-EDMIX-_2873d ago

I mean sure the number is going to fluctuate but trust me the overwhelming majority is not going to be purchasing this game out of the woodwork simply because it has the free downloadable content so did Halo 5 sold in Rainbow Six Siege the majority actually don't purchase downloadable content in fact the majority don't even play games past a specific number of hours to seriously suggest that the numbers will suddenly increase over time simply based on free content as there's no evidence that providing free contact will affect sales for the positive especially when you consider titles like Halo 5.

Star Wars Battlefront is an amazing example this site absolutely exaggerated this game in regards to its lack of content and it's overpriced season pass yet the title went on to move 14 million units all while the game Community was actually shrinking as the weeks went on but that's typical of most multiplayer games.

So if a game with limited content with charged downloadable content as the majority of the distribution model can move 14 million units I question the importance of free downloadable content if a game is not even coming close to those numbers.

The game that notoriously lacked content moved record numbers and is now the best selling Star Wars game of all time....has a season pass.

I'm sorry but I do not believe more people are going to purchase Titanfall 2 simply because statistically Games Lower in sales and communities lessen over time they do not increase typically.

I'm sorry but someone has to seriously be naive to believe MORE people will purchase Titanfall 2 after the fact for free downloadable content.

I'm sorry but what evidence do you even have to show that any game starts increasing and sales simply because of such a thing? The majority of the Gaming Community doesn't even play games to the degree in which they would even stick around long enough for that to even factor into sales.

The numbers and statistics regarding the majority of the Gaming Community completing games or lack of that or the statistics of how many people even continue playing multiplayer games after release is very sobering.

It's not what you think it is.

I wonder if BF1 will have higher numbers even though IW had "disappointing sales"

Garethvk2873d ago

Hard to say. Their disappointing sales were when compared to Black Ops III.

Manubiggs2873d ago

Im getting Titanfall sometime next year. There are just too many games right now and I have very limited time. I think in the long run it will do fine.

Garethvk2873d ago

Exactly my point. You will likely see many of them as gifts or early 2017 sales.

showtimefolks2873d ago

Disappointing sales for IW when compared to black ops 3 otherwise I think it's still gonna be one of the better selling(only talking about sales)games of 2016

I just don't know what EA thought it launched TF2 against BF1

So far this holiday season has been really under whelming

Hopefully publishers pay attention and start releasing games all year instead of cramping everything in a 3-4 month window

Biggest disappointments so far

Dues ex-yes it's a good game but not a great game and the story isn't finished only to be sold later to us via dlc and it's hard to believe that on next gen console under a big publisher a game launches with such bad lip syncing

Mafia 3-everything has been said

No man sky-wish it was delayed so all the stuff being talked about how they are gonna add content could have actually launched with the game

Watch dogs-yes I know it hasn't launched but personally speaking I have zero interest in the game and what's weird is I actually enjoyed the first watch dogs. WD2 is just trying too hard to be hip and I just don't know why but I haven't liked whatever they have shown

I ended up buying IW today and also the fusion pro controller. I'm taking the controller back because it sucks. I haven't played the game yet.

Microsoft's Absurd Antics Have Me Scared For Dishonored And Arkane Lyon's Future

With Arkane Austin no more and Lyon living for who knows how long, the superb Dishonored is in serious danger; Microsoft cannot be trusted.

Relientk77132d ago

I love the Dishonored series so much and really want Dishonored 3. Microsoft better not screw this up.

JEECE132d ago

I mean, I think the fans will probably kill Arkane Lyon by cooking up reasons to hate whatever they do next without playing it. I've never seen a game so artificially disliked as Deathloop.

thesoftware730132d ago

Lol, why don't we just say, we are worried about all studios owned by MS now. They will keep closing studios until they have none left ...🙄

Skuletor132d ago

Just merge them all into a single studio, have it churn out a single Call of Duty every year and call it a day, lol.

Barlos132d ago

Don't be scared, you'll be fine.

Skuletor132d ago

It's exputer, fine is one word I would not associate with them.

Profchaos132d ago

I think it's becoming clear based on matt bootys comments there's no future for any IP that can't sell above 10 million within the launch window. But is also a small game that gives them prestige

/S it's beyond a joke right now

I agree with this. The time travel mechanics. The sense of scale. The relationship with your mech. The bosses all had personalities. It's a wonderful game.

Yeah it was good, but it only did the time travel bit in one level. Dishonered 2 did the same thing. Now how about a game where it's implemented throughout the gameplay? Singularity says Hello (and deserves so much more recognition).
