Square Enix Teases New Title Helmed by Chrono Trigger and FF IV Developer

Square Enix tease a new mobile Final Fantasy title that may be developed by the director of Chrono Trigger.

But yeah, definitely was hoping for some cool indie title for consoles/PC! However, the last time I was excited about a game helmed by a Chrono Trigger developer, I was left disappointed... *cough Blue Dragon *cough :p

EDIT: actually, it was just Akira Toriyama who was on Blue Dragon so it wasn't really a game developer, per se.

More mobile games. Though they are porting the others they released to steam soon still those games are "designed" around micro-transactions instead of being a fun or good game. It's a 99% this is a new mobile game. There are Iphone and Android logos on the bottom left for a reason. *sigh*

Mobile doesn't have to be BS any more with Nintendo's Switch coming. I'm going to be a 3 platform dude this year. PS4 Pro, PC and Switch. Gonna be comedy to balance the budget and buy what I feel is good!

Do they even care about us console owners anymore? I mean, a new Chrono Trigger type game would be AMAZING!! But sadly, all their good games go to mobile. I'm really ashamed in SE these days. Those Squaresoft days were just so magical.

Hear hear! Loved growing up in the 90s when Squaresoft kept Final Fantasy games relevant while tossing several surprises our way, like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG.

Do you not see the massive difference between games designed for consoles/Pc and games designed for cell phones?

Not so much actually. Mobile phones are quite good nowadays. Games like old Final Fantasy titles can be emulated really good on them. If the game has a good story does it matter if it has snes graphics?

??? I don't think that it's the graphics as to why people don't like mobile games over console ones. Yes there have been a few that are, but for the most part console games are way more in depth. They take time and have a good control scheme. The production values are usually way more than mobile games. Screen size is a huge difference too. I know me as a console owner would like something that shines on my HDTV.

Most mobile games are copy and paste. Games that are made with minimal risk at a cheap price for maximum profits. They also have in-app purchases which in some ways is worse than DLC on console. Mobile games are made with time as a factor so they're "quick and easy". I also don't need anything in my mobile to drain the battery more than it already does

Read what I wrote. I'm not talking about graphics or resolution, I'm talking about the way the games are designed.
Cell phone games are like short game samples meant for people with short amounts of time. There's nothing engrossing about them, there is no depth. Many of which are designed effortlessly to make a quick buck.

Mentioning emulation of old console games on a cell phone has nothing to do with the difference between games "designed for" consoles/Pc and those designed cell phones. Emulated console games are still games that were designed for consoles.
