"Leading up to the release of PlayStation VR one of the games that had my attention the most was Job Simulator. I had seen this game which had already been released on other VR devices and the uniqueness and humor of it drew me in immediately."
Tune into VR Games Showcase for the latest announcements and updates on Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2, and PC VR titles coming in 2025.
With Hitman: World of Assassination on PS VR2, Flat2VR Studios, Slender VR and much more confirmed for the show, this is something you won't want to miss.
This will be a roughly 35 minute show.
Robo Quest VR looks pretty slick with that fast gunplay.
Shadowgate VR looks good too, perhaps in the vein of elder scrolls.
Shadowgate VR. Thought it might be connected to the old point and click game. But it still looks good.
y'know, VR needs something can can only be achieved while in VR. Immersion isn't enough, it has to have a hook that is so cool that you would want to own one. Having the same games you could play on console doesnt warrant a purchase.
Job Simulator dev says we're close to mass market immersive VR.
What is the evidence for this other than 1 VR developers opinion? PSVR2, AVP, WMR have all stopped production not to mention countless other headset manufacturers have bowed out. Meta sales are flagging and Valve are pretty much nowhere. The remaining players are all interested in the latest shiny thing "AR Glasses", a far cry from what VR is.
All I hear are excuses from VR enthusiasts, But the reality is the patience and the consumers wallet is now empty with over a decade plus of trying to get VR to catch on. You have been given much longer than any other tech to catch on and it hasn't happened. I can attest from using VR extensively games are not inherently better in VR actually quite the opposite, they tend to be worse, They are more like Wii+ games, often shallow and janky controls that if anything takes the immersion out of the game. Sure you can get odd fun horror game but you don't even need to play a horror game to get jump scares.
The non game part of this isn't much better, I haven't seen any productivity app which makes the process of data input or graphic design faster, it just makes things slower. So it isn't even a more productive way of doing computing like Apple tried to sell it as. For this to ever catch on it has to be benefits all around when you put on a headset on and it isn't.
For most people wearing a headset is a negative to begin with so it ends up being a psychological uphill battle from the get go, especially if it is for work.
Virtual Reality (VR) gamers will be eating well the next few months with what seems like solid titles releasing from now until December.
Has Hitman: World Of Assassination been confirmed for PCVR? If not, then this article is seriously misleading.
I’ll have to put the dual sense down and pick up metro and alien vr to see me out till the end of the year. Good to see companies supporting psvr 2 .
Looks like a tremendous few months coming up. I won't be able to keep up with these.
VR is really starting to flesh out recently. The hardware is finally getting accessible and with the quality it takes to deliver a compelling and immersive experience. Good times ahead. I hope Flat2VR Studios can bridge the gap with some excellent conversions as the industry matures.
