Considering if you have a decent PC the only real upgrade appears to be the god-rays (everything else they did was already done, and way, way more, by modders) it makes sense. Not worth dealing with getting everything re-installed just for that.

Ogygian3105d ago (Edited 3105d ago )

Actually, the major improvement is 64 bit, which makes modded games more stable by allowing the use of more than 4GB of RAM (modded games reaching the RAM limit is responsible for most crashes).

So the major benefit is modding. Most mods require SkyUI. Hence, this news is awful.

The only solution is for someone else to somehow take the mod forward, or for a new SkyUI alternative to be created.

I have no doubt at all that another modder will pick this up and update it for the SE. Same goes for any of the 'essential' Skyrim mods - they'll all show up for PC sooner or later.

I have 128 mods installed and still haven't hit the 4gb limit. I don't know wtf you'd have to do to hit it, but I'm suspecting the answer is "nothing smart or necessary."

@Forum Pirate

It's if you have lots of script-based mods. Papyrus stores information on the RAM, and when it goes over the 4GB limit ENBoost gives you, the game crashes.

Mods like Frostfall, iNeed, Civil War Overhaul etc. Also many quests.

64 bit should in theory allow more complex scripted mods.

You can use the existing cbbe and it will still work for Skyrim SE. It's in my load order right now.

They could toss a patch out to fix launch day bugs still around but na they need that money sense they are part if a trillion dollar corporation now.

Let it die. Bethesda is trying to kill it, so they can go all mobile casino games.

Hasn't this been a thing for like a decade? How is this news?

anast1345d ago

Is there a mode that has more than 4 NPC voices?

diepdiep1345d ago

It's called "Interesting NPCS". This adds +200 more characters that aren't one dimensional and has 80 voice actors.

anast1345d ago

Nice. I might revisit the Rim.
